Yeah that's the real question. PCIe is 100% backwards compatible in theory so you can put a 4090 on a board from 2010.

The issue is the CPU would be a hard bottleneck on a board that old. Even a more modern CPU can barely keep up at 1440p a lot of the time.

asrock is my favorite for a few reasons

1. scans for bios updates anywhere, even on your OS drive
2. settings persist through bios updates
3. full rgb control from within bios, so you can get away with never installing any rgb software ever
