Yeah I think I will probably wait till China and keep savings up till then to do the 7950x + 4090 upgrade.
why 7950x?
fair enough
And I don't need a 7950x3d considering the 7950x already gets way more then enough fps with a 4090 and a 7950x3d will hurt Blender and World Painter perf.
i'm kinda suspicious of the 7950x3d
i don't want windows game bar to be in charge of my cpu scheduling lol
Any news on 14th gen or 8000s ryzen?
It's mostly the chipset drivers though
We're expecting 8000 series Q1 next year
^
I had to double check but we're also expecting IPC to improve by 15% from Zen4 to Zen5, in addition to a minor bump in clock speed.
is 15% good or bad?
Should I hold out for 8000 series for a big upgrade?
Save up a few grand and do that?
It's decent, nothing huge but way better than some generational jumps
Absolutely wait for 8000
Never buy the first gen on a new platform
7000 has been literally catching fire
fair.
Aight will do that then.
Will also give me some time to save up a bit extra for that sweet Aorus Master board.
So I can get my whole setup matching the shade theme.
Just ordered a GT210 off Amazon for $20. $25 after shipping.
Should arrive in a couple weeks.
how much could i sell

corsair 1000 psu
ok thank you
sweet thanks for the input 👍
lmao. I bought it so I can turn my 10700f into a server.
Prob 1100 - 1400 usd
Is there a way to get the am4 mounting bracket for the deepcool gammaxx gt a-rgb I can’t really find it anywhere
And also the fan clip to put it on the cooler the fan
Should come with one?
Any issues with this PSU?
Plan to power a server using a 10700f + gt210
Hasn't Yeyian been around for a while?
Got it free with a cpu I bought
Didn’t come with am4
Bracket
Ah contact manufacturer then or maybe on Amazon or something
I've literally never heard of them and i would not trust a no name psu with no data, if it's not on the cultists list don't even think about it
Ooof.
What do you guys recommend on amazon.com.mx? Would like to spend as little as possible since I am doing this server on a tight budget.
$190 is my limit for PSU and SSD. Already picked out the SSD leaving $45-55 left for the PSU.
Why are you buying new parts
The only viable upgrade for your system is a larger SSD, why are you replacing the PSU?
I can up the budget to around $80 if I wait another week but I'd prefer to spend as little as possible.
Is there really that big of a difference for psus at such low wattage?
Alright.
I will wait an extra week for my next paycheck then.
What PSU do you guys recommend then with the budget upped to $80?
I will take this.
Whichever is cheapest that can offer stability and consistent power.
I plan on upgrading my build here pretty soon, and I was wondering if the PSU I have would be able to handle it,
I have a EVGA 850W 80+ gold Supernova

Hi im pretty new to pc could anyone tell me a budget build around 700 *
Get a smaller/slower ssd
It will but there's better chocies for basically every part, what's your budget to upgrade, what's your gpu and what do you want to upgrade/add?
SSD has already been settled. Also it's a $20 difference between a gen 3 Kingston NV2 and the gen 4 S70 Blade.
ops, forgot to add the GPU, its a Zotak RTX 3080 Trinity
What are your current parts and what are you looking to upgrade?
the parts above and what I was looking at
to get
So upgrade cpu, ram, ssd and cooler, just wondering what you currently have to see if you can reuse any other parts

It's worse
ah
alright gamers
$950 pre-tax PCPP budget (pretty hard limit)

typical just a gaming PC, want to try and stick with Nvidia GPU, but could get away with an AMD if we can fit like a RX 6800
typical 1 TB SSD, basic stuff, wanna try and get some sort of RGB in it, basic fans, or whatever
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Montech X3 Mesh ATX Mid Tower
Could spend $10 more for an A tier 750w RME, and throw in a 214xt for an rgb cpu cooler
Could spend $10 more for an A tier 750w RME, and throw in a 214xt for an rgb cpu cooler
@potent portal, can I justify buying the 7600X now?
The non-X 7600 is $15 more than the 7600X
7600X is $200 RN so I might try to snag it while it's at this price
Man
Most reviewers saying they never got the item
Does Amazon ever refund scams like this?
Yes but it can be a pain
Which is what a scammer counts on, they want you to give up and take the loss
Amazon is literally promoting it 💀
I can't find the actual 7600X listing
You can find it under "other sellers", the actual amazon listing has Jedi Survivor bonus too
But then that's also a bonus with the $215 7600 from wegg
I was planning on this combo from Newegg
Had the board and CPU I wanted
Unsure if I'm saving that much doing this, but whatever
Considering there's other B650 boards for $125 it breaks about even I think
I am building a new PC and the CPU is going to be the i7-13700 or i9-13900
I dont know what Motherboard to chose does anyone have suggestions? Looking to spend 400$ or less
If you're just gaming there's no point in the 13900 when the 13600k gets within 3% of the performance for way cheaper (plus you don't need as much cooling)
Do you have any special needs like front USB C or wifi?
Another option https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8ncG3C/gigabyte-z790-ud-ac-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-ud-ac
Has both USB C and wifi
No I dont need wifi idk about usb c
I still hesitate to recommend asrock on intel
Did it have the power limits set to intel spec out of the box? Because asrock was the only one doing that
Thanks for the suggestions guys I will check them out :))
They were set to 230/253 out of the box with properly set tau iirc
That's intel spec
I'm currently running the default PLs with infinite tau
What are his needs? He never said
infinite tau is nice to have
but aside from that, I wouldn't recommend any config changes for the average user
Intel does not void the warranty if you change tau
so it's an easily recommended setting imo
If your talking about me yea lmfao
tau being the time it'll spend running at PL2
Gaming and some video editing
What program for editing
Premiere Pro
Ok that's actually a good reason to get a higher tier processor. More threads is more better.
Hi, I need a tech help, I am building my gaming PC, I purchsed LIAN LI LANCOOL II MESH C RGB SNOW WHITE Tempered Glass ATX Case - White Color, Type C Included - LANCOOL II MESH C RGB-S and for the motherboard i got the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5 AMD B650 SATA 6Gb/s DDR5 Ryzen 7000 ATX
what do you need help with?
Do the standoffs not line up?
It definitely should
The standoffs are the little hexagonal bits that stick out of the case
the IO shield should line up just fine
I usually go in at an angle, so the shield goes into place first
but then i can't add back the IO shield
Sometimes you need to push the IO shield in a bit more
or in some cases, carefully push the board against the shield
Wait, this board has a preinstalled IO shield.
@jaunty hill which IO shield are you using?
that looks preinstalled to me, is it actually separate?
NO WAY DAWG 😭
lmaoooo
"1k ssd drive"
There's delusional, and then there's this
how do I get my monitor to display from my igpu? I have it plugged into the mobo and it isn't displaying anything
nvm got it
Nah it's got rgb def worth
"""RGB"""

Yessss
update talked down to 1050
that's pretty good
with the added savings im upgrading storage n ram
also probably rgb cables because
feel like it
cool + ratio
women attractor
yeah babes, i have rgb cables, how could you tell?
Doubt
I repel women
It'll attract women. Just not human women. Female moths are attracted to ultraviolet light for example, and there would be a good bit of that coming off all those RGB devices.
Frfr
Keep dat rgb strapped
naw dawg rgb cables women magnet
@little osprey take away that RGB and you'll see your fps tank.
More like moth magnet
mad + ratio, rgb = unlimited egg
Does a vertical GPU mount look decent in a 4000D Airflow?
How to connect my NAS drive to the Starlink internet using wifi
That's completely subjective, but there are a bunch of Google image results
Yeah, just wanted a general opinion
@earnest olive or any other mod we've got a scammer or hacked account here
#building-and-recc-chat message
thanks
damnit
Which one of you dimwits gave me the idea to use Cyberpower PC
You didn't build one yourself?
@mossy venture
Technically I did, just on their website
I didn't buy a pre built in a way
if something went wrong with the computer, it has a warranty
contact customer support and they will help, i apologize if something went wrong but no company has 100% foolproof quality control
It is a prebuilt, but it's already been mentioned
Contact customer support for issues with it
I also don't appreciate being called a dimwit for no reason
Not every issue comes up during their testing
Nonono
See the thing is
I DIDN'T GET IT
That is also not a me thing... take that up with whatever carrier they ship through, and or cyberpower customer service
also, coming at someone doesn't get you anything.
It's all your fault smh
Sounds like Cyberpower is nothing but a scam
How long has it been
And is it marked as delivered
ok
if you would rather believe that than do a few simple things to get your pc or your money back, then go ahead
have you checked the tracking number?
It was supposed to be delivered on Thursday, I checked the UPS website, and just a few minutes ago it was requested to be sent back to Cyberpower
Like wtf my guy
then you'll get your money back...
how much do you guys reckon i can sell this for https://pcpartpicker.com/list/83Xjtn
Part List - Intel Core i7-11700KF, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
i have to check the psu
PSU is what matters most
🗿
man idfk im struggling over here 😭 sh mysterious as hell
take a picture?
Peepee poopoo
I use pcpartpicker to check specs of certain items n wen I go to buy sum full tower cases says they are mid tower case wen I crosscheck specs on Newegg n Amazon website
There's no set definition of "mid tower" or "full tower", it's marketing speak
O I c @potent portal
Tier list here
https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
Get at least c tier, but preferably b tier and higher depending on the parts
In most cases, b tier will be fine. If you plan on overclocking then def go for a tier.
If you're already spending for a top tier GPU you might as well get A tier too just in case
RMe has been a good price lately
True true.
On topic of GPU, I'm trying to find a teardown video of the zotac 1080 blower, but I can't seem to find one. It should be pretty simple to tear down yeah?
Most GPUs are more or less the same
The only major differences would be where the fan cables and rgb cables plug in
Gotcha, I've not torn into a GPU yet, but this little thing runs wayyy to hot. I'm pretty sure the paste is done for
It's about that age yeah
They’re a lot less delicate than they seem(in my experience). Still be super careful but I’m ngl, I dropped a few screws here and there and it all still works perfectly lol
S70 Blade 2TB compared to the SN770 2TB which ssd is better?
You don't need to double post lol
This might be a dumb question but is it possible for my gpu settings to automatically apply when i turn on my pc?
do i use msi afterburner
you can do it in the amd drivers since youre on amd
how
what about without
1200 maybe
Customer brought this to me because it wouldn't turn on. He had his son replace the PSU, but still won't turn on. Can't wait to get it home and tinker with it.
I don't have any display devices that use VGA so I'm thinking I'll need to put the 580 in it.
Ooh that should be fun
First thing I would check is the caps personally. They liked to use liquid caps in that era.
Ah l, I'll check em out.
24 pin is unplugged, not sure if you did that or not
Oh yeah it is lmao
If it wouldn't turn on before then it could have been the old power supply or mobo still
Yeah I did that myself.
What I noticed off the bat though was there was no power plugged into either of the HDD.
I'm gonna pull it all out though and just set it up on a box and inspect it like falcie said to. If all looks good, I'll start putting it together with my known good PSU and go from there.
anyone wanna help me build a 1440p for ARK/Rust? My very antisocial cousin wants a PC, 1500ish build but the most money he can save is best, near an MC https://pcpartpicker.com/list/y8FwNc
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700K, Radeon RX 6750 XT, Lian Li LANCOOL 215 ATX Mid Tower
12700k can likely be upgraded to 13600k for 14$ more, and RAM could probably be adjusted.
what does he do
well he can’t do much on a hp laptop with a i3 from 4-5 years ago, so it’s just minecraft, roblox and terraria atm. He wants to play Ark, rust, and some other games though
He isn’t into COD/fortnite really
MC deal
plus it’d probably be worth to upgrade to 13600k, considering the whole bundle is 349.99
also mc deal..
Pc fans so loud. Noctua is most quiet n reliable?
yeah i mean its fine
kinda like buying the bundle, then paying just a little more for 32 gb
like 1 fps diffrence in some games
RAM is a no brainer, but anything else really?
also depending if the microcenter clerk rings it up total only on the CPU or whatsoever, I could probably upgrade to the 13600k for free
eh, i mean it’s one of the best coolers for the 12700k, otherwise the ag600/ak600
for air cooling atleast
i like the ak 600 personally
but i would go with the 13600k
I have the pa120 se so..
for 14 dollar extra
alright
2 more cores and more threads will be nice
if they even let him upgrade like what i did back in December lmao
ye
true. my cpu never gets above 20% usage which is kinda cool
but not a bad build
for the price
maybe change psu to 850
df revlution
850
is good
and about the same price or 10 dollar diffrence
i see
otherwise good build but ask someone else for recommendations because i dont know anything about drives and you could save money and jsut get a 6700xt
Debating between these two drives opinions? both 176 layer TLC, comparable read speeds both micron nand
https://www.newegg.com/corsair-2tb-mp600-pro-lpx/p/N82E16820236837?Item=N82E16820236837&SoldByNewegg=1
I would get neither
Just go with mp33 and be done with it if you don't need the speed
ok, 1.5k build?
might as well stick with my sata drives then
6700XT is very underwhelming for 1.5k pc lol
@manic cloak https://pcpartpicker.com/list/d6jRQ6
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Grab this instead for 1.5k
MC might get you better deals though, but the general idea should be like this
Hard pass.
Oh the mushkin would be alright
But SN770 is probably better if randoms aren't high
But the mp600 is a definite hard pass
controller bad on the mp600?
It's the price
Not worth 130 when there's cheaper options
Premium gen 4 I would consider like, p44 pro or p41 platinum at 130, and that's only on the grounds if you ever find them at that price, otherwise 110 is about as high as I'd go
what am I looking for when looking at these drives?
X58 can't use nvme silly
I mean they all usually list iops, but controllers are usually absent and same with cache
Cos unless you're doing like, large file moving, or like 4K video editing/scrubbing gen 4 just makes no sense
Let alone gen 5
I'm sure we can solder something together to make it work
Random reads and more importantly sustained speeds are a bigger quality factor than whether it's gen 4 or from a name brand
Mp33 is far better than a sata drive, if you want a faster one, in the US I'd go for the soligm p41 plus
Alrighty Tech Wizards, I need your expertise on what the best use of money would be to upgrade this current system:
[CPU] Intel i7-11700K
[GPU] EVGA 3060ti XC
[RAM] 16 GB 3200Mhz CL18
GOAL OF UPGRADE: To play Cyberpunk 2077 in 4k at Max Settings (using DLSS Super Performance Mode) and gain much higher framerates.
(Currently sitting at 45-55 FPS at 4k Max Settings using DLSS Super Performance Mode)
Current decided upgrade: Spend $50-$100 on upgrading RAM. Currently thought-of upgrade: https://www.newegg.com/oloy-64gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820821212 (64 GB of 3200Mhz CL16 for $109.99? Whew!)
More Information: This is my Best Friend's PC. He doesn't know much about Hardware, but he does have $50-$100 to spare for an upgrade. The first thing that comes to my mind is to save his money to buy a better GPU, but he's also expressed frustration about not being able to run Discord & Cyberpunk simultaneously without lag on either screen. Maybe a RAM upgrade is more feasible than a GPU upgrade at this time? What do you all think?
32gb ram, 4090
^
New psu
Can always count on you, Fishlix!
Which upgrade first? Buy RAM now?
GPU first
This bit especially if you have anything like, sub 850w
It'll make the most impact
Ram first 100%
Ram now GPU later
You guys are awesome
Well conflicting opinion, so Imma follow with the other two lel
Np
Why RAM now and GPU later (besides lack of funds) though?
Most significant performance increase will be immediately seen with RAM?
Yeah ram first
16gb isn't enough for gaming these days, it's quickly becoming redundant
Also funds
cries in 12gb ram
Buy a 32gb kit then sell your 16gb kit and you'll be net more money afterwards
am sad and i shall eat tissue
Alrighty, RAM it is, then. I've heard that any speeds beyond 3200Mhz Cl16 have insignificant returns at 4k. Is this true?
3200Mhz Cl16 it is. Which 32 GB kit should I buy?
mp33 doesn't have a cache?
Dramless isn't a big deal on SSD's, yes, slightly less reliable, but mp33 is insanely good value for an nvme

Don't worry too much about dram when it has hmb on budget drives
For 4090, just pick the cheapest
As long as it's not a palit
Woohoo! I purchased this exact same kit for my brother's build 7 months ago! Too bad it was $79.99 back then
Palit gamerock is disgusting for a 4090, worse than a ventus imo
Yeah it's still the cheapest and best kit
Purchased! Friend's birthday is May 28th. He'll be super happy

Two days before mine
Should I have gotten the RBG one for $9 more? Any differences between the kits? https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Turbine-3200MHz-288-pin/dp/B07RWMKX94/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

@remote fiber send me ewaste
just seems weird 1800/1500mb 220/200k iops drive w/o cache for 70 bucks is the recommendation
Aesthetics
It's because it is 70$ for 2tb
Personally I'd go with the cleaner look of this particular non-rgb model over the RGB one, but I know he loves anything with glowy lights
Windows is out of the box limited well beneath what any of these drives can actually do
Yeah I'm the same way tbh, rgb has long died in my heart lol
It's cheap, and most people realistically don't see any improvement beyond it
there we go answer i was looking for
So unless you have a specific niche to use more than a basic ssd then yeah, it's basically a paperweight investment
I paid for xtremes to turn the rgb off
Like 4k video or big file transfer
Direct storage still not here :(
Yeah direct storage will change things
But at the same time a long way away until it'll ever truly matter
Supposed to have changed thing half a year ago and still no widespread implementations
this is for my daily btw, probably won't upgrade the drive for like 5 years again
Early directstorage benchmarks show marginal improvements over basic m.2's but early benchmarks also don't fully utilise it yet
Yeah by then, gen 4 probably matters
And by then we probably have gen 6 or 7
Geeze
Me too. I've been doing minimalistic RGB for about 6 months now. I love the Clean look of the blackout OLOY Blade RAM. 'Got it in my $999 ABS Prebuilt that went on sale 2 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdIe1yGPud4
CRE8 helped OLOy design this high-performance memory kit. Instead of anodizing, the stamped aluminum heat spreaders are finished by eco-friendly digital printing to present a quality metallic feel. A unique RGB lighting effect is presented in a way that hasn’t been seen before. The light guide is hidden in a metal-like thin coating when not in u...
Ooo oloys are so nice
I used to own a set
I'll agree those are, exceptionally nice looking for rgb
Love 'em to bits. So clean
HBM takes like 50mb ram and acts like one over nvme
went with this instead so i can use it on my windows xp machine

Anyone have the best PC Airduster recommendation? I'm buying one now
i don't know about best, but i personally use the slightly older version of this and am very happy with it
https://www.amazon.com/XPOWER-Inflating-Detailing-Performance-Eco-Friendly/dp/B086WRHRSJ/
important note: if you use this on a pc, you should use your fingers to hold your fans stopped while blowing on them and use the low power setting; the high power setting is powerful enough to instantly destroy a case fan's motor/bearings if the fan is not stopped from spinning freely (don't ask me how i learned this)
If you’re looking for the perfect electric air duster, XPOWER’s sleek A-2S Cyber Duster makes the decision simple. Designed to maximize performance and versatility, with high CFM, multiple speeds, rugged and lightweight ABS housing, thermal protection, and a washable filter, it is multi-purpose, ...
ill send this but what i'm thinking it might be possible to like swap out the motherboard for that one you put on the list, same with the CPU for the 13600k instead.
considering I did that with a 12600k to a 12700k to my current 13600k back in December, but from what I heard they kinda cut down on that stuff
also what's wrong with the 215 case being 62.99?
but tbh, for him having a 1500$ budget I find it overkill considering I doubt he's gonna be gaming with stuff like a 6950xt, plus we gotta save him money for the monitor lmao
hi! i decided to turn my turntable deck into a handheld!
with desktop graphics cards as an option for the “boost mode”
i only need to wait for the backplate since a friend is printing it
that's more like a table pc at this point
anyone have an idea how i can speed up my boot time
it used to be like minimum 15 seconds and now its taking up to 3 minutes

what do you consider a boot? like everything loaded on the desktop or even getting to the desktop?
just the lock screen
is the memory training alot?
no clue what that means
Ddr5 sometimes does weird training boot loops a buddy of mine had a similar issue
basically if your memory timings are being remembered by your bios
how do i check that
It would usually be a post code on the mobo or just the memory light lit up
if your memory lights or mobo codes are getting cycled like 3-4 times your bios probably is doing a struggle
ohh
could try updating your bios
ill check the lights here when i get to my pc
Everything else in windows feels snappy though?
No weird super slow to open programs
yea everything is fine once i get to windows
sorta but not really noticable

like rn my headset software was loading for a good minute but i had to keep closing and reopening for each option i wanted to change
Oh that’s fine I was worried you were opening a program only to be greeted by a blank page for a minute
nah it just had the loading wheel in the middle for too long
I’ve seen windows corrupt in some wild ways
would of been the wildest id seen
Check for the boot loop though like mera was saying
windows could be unhappy, your boot drive could be wonky, funky ram doing unhappy things, Bios being unhappy and needing a clear/update. Really could be multiple things
Could even be a overheating cpu in some cases
I actually had a messed up stick of ram probably for many months that only under certain circumstances would cause issues.
windows would recover from issues, all sorts of stuff without little problem
So nothing abnormal with the mobo lights
No little red light that stays on
Nothing like that
sounds like a boot drive/windows thing
Might be
well worse case install windows 11 fresh
Didnt wanna do that if i could avoid it
and you have a crispy OS
Yea then gotta download all the apps
yeeeh
Just for giggles can you check your cpu temps? (If you have a aio)
core clock rate is jumping from 3800mhz to 4490mhz tho soo
ahh makes sense
it does that as it only needs a couple cores at high frequency
so, things I would try is if you havent in a while. Updating your bios and doing all your fresh bios settings
next test your drive to make sure its healthy
Bios would be the best bet ^
I mean thats pretty fast
actually no its not nvm
Mines so fast I can hardly see the screen to hit Del
yea but it jumped from 3 seconds up to 900 the first time it was weird
Yeahhhhh I was gunna say
usually same
ok yea, I would take a swing at new bios
but now i can go touch grass and come back and its still on bios screen
yea, you can try reseating or testing your ram too
ah ill do it after bios then
What nvme are you using as a boot drive (assuming you’re using a nvme)
oh there was a "recent" bios update
uh lemme check
it really makes me think your fighting with your boot drive though
980 pro 2tb inc
its a samsung something

did you ever update your firmware on that 980?
samsung 980
if you didnt...it could be dead
Oh crap
ayo what
Just had to jinx it
those things had a bad batch that burnt themselves out
and the firmware was there to fix it
the pros or the 980 in general
It was generally the pros, the first gen but it also ended up effecting other drives
hmm
Download Samsungs magician software
well could try the magician and update your drives firmware first
It’ll update firmware and check drive health
yea im clueless when it comes to storage
oo nice
since I boguht my 980 pro its had a couple updates
Lmao
i only got the one samsung ssd
I have the same drives mera, just my 980 pro is 1tb
980 was overkill realistically but w/e XD
Running the 860s in raid 0
whats raid 0
Speed
Gl
You should be able to see what programs are causing boot time issues
eh even if i turn them off it stays the same so
Bios time
I dono my only other guess would be your windows install is unhappy or bios update
It’s probably windows.
cuz I think im faster than you on a standard Sata ssd
asus board
asus probably has something similiar
no clue
yea it did speed it up from 900 down to like 120
but slowly its been cutting down
where do you even check bios time?
How full is this drive? Some cheap SLC drives will slow down dramatically when they're 50% full
About 50%
Do you know what model drive it is?
More or less around the middle
oh
Just the base 980 model i think
Still faster
😐
Have you updated the firmware since you got it?
My second one is a wd sn750
Just a couple mins ago
Ok what does samsung magician say the drive health is?
did you turn xmp and rebar and everything back on as well
In the bios?
yea
Nah i missed the bios screen 😅
I accidentally just hit the sleep button instead of shutdown soo
also something like crystaldiskinfo should tell you how healthy that drive is
Yeah or samsung magician, which you would have used to update the drive
magician leaves info out though
What about when you click the smart info button
where is that at
@potent portal
slowly catching up
all i can think is your bios was unhappy with itself in some odd way
Havent updated it so it might be the last push to get it back down
Found my flash drives so thats next
Any idea what this could be?
nah for some reason the file copied to the flashdrive with 0 mbs of data so
had to redo it
gotcha
Says not a proper bios file
did you label it per asus's instructions?
and is it the correct revision for your mobo
Has a rename thing with the download thats what i used
As far as ik it is
hmm
I would just copy the bios file over manually and rename it to however asus says to do it
if you have TPM on you might have to turn it off for that
thats the only thing I can think might help
unless your fighting with something going bad
strange
when I updated mine it fixed the weird resolution issues i had
I would still attempt to figure out how to update
Yea mine was blurry
10.1
that an old set of bios
I try to check mine every few months
I was planning on doing it but whenever i had time i never did
Cuz i updated bios on the other pc i built last week
Whats d.o.c.p for
you will need to go hunt for Re-bar, and turn XMP/DOCP on. and if your windows 11 make sure TPM is on
TPM will be on by default
I always double check, my gigabyte bios its always been on since windows 11 launched
cant speak for others, but good if it is
Good point, doesn't hurt to check
Has search feature 😎
I installed a new ram into my pc and it doesnt turn on
Just an orange light from my motherboard
Clear cmos
What's the ram and what mobo
Little battery on your board
And is the ram fully in the slots? Did the locks click?
Yea it clicks
What ram/mobo/cpu
Gimme mins
Its this one
Wanted to install Kingston FURY Renegade Black 32gb
so ?
What specific speed
Alr, did you take out the old ram?
Yes
Did you put the new ram in the same slots as the old ones (not sure if there's two slots or 4 on that mobo, if there's two sorry for the stupid questions)
Alr, did you use the same slots as the old ram was in?
His bios is prob still trying to apply his old rams xmp
Not sure
Yeah try clearing cmos, take out that lil silver battery on the motherboard
It's probably right side of mobo
It's a little silver circle
Maybe not super little, a bit more than a cm in diameter I'd say
Could you please highlight it
That thing at the bottom of it might be able to pop it out if you press down on it
Silver thing immediately below the battery touching it
If it doesn't move with relatively light pressure don't push too hard, it might not be to pop it out
It wont budge
Then try using a flat head screw driver to lightly wedge it out, just be careful. Technichwlly anything thin and flat would work, I used a Swiss army knife, but screw drivers safer
I should remove it ?
Yeah, just for a little bit
15 seconds I think is what it is
Then you just pop it back in
Happy to
?cmos
How to clear CMOS (works for AMD and Intel)
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
For reference 😉
If you're doing the battery method you usually want to do 15 minutes, not seconds. It can finish a clear in 5-10 minutes but 15 is good to be safe.
15 seconds is for the jumper or button
I always use the jumper lol
Make a button
I will
You can wire your case reset button to the jumper points
Yeah lol
Great minds think alike 🗿
It might take a few minutes to train the memory
It was unplugged while the battery was out right?
No
Ah, well that usually is required
Unplug it and reset cmos
🙃
It can also help speed things along by holding the power button for a few seconds while it's unplugged, drains the power faster
Unplug the pc
Then
Then this
While the ram is pluged ?
The ram is irrelevant to this process
Ok
I did everything and stll
Man
Used jumper removed battery
And still not working
Ok, and you said the orange light turned off already while it's trying to start? Are any others on?
In that case try another video port on the gpu, sometimes it'll default to a different one
Or maybe just press F1
Which would accept the default values and continue boot process
There's 2 more things to try. Shut it down and take one stick of memory out and see if it works with 1 stick. If that still doesn't work clear cmos again. I've seen it take a dozen tries before it finally worked before, it can be finicky.

Now my pc wont boot up
Sweet
My power supply blow up
Just to install simple ram made that
It's plugged back in, with the power switch on " I "?
Yea
Battery is back in?
If so then I'm guessing something came loose while you were digging around in there, like the power switch or the 24 pin
Idk anymore
But it was a new kit of memory right? He's right, they don't look fully seated.
I'm thinking you reseat the ram properly and it's gonna turn on again
When it's all the way in the clips will be in the same position as the others
It can take a little force to get in and you might hear a light grinding sound, that's normal
Ram slots also * click * when you seat the ram properly
If a psu detects a short it won't turn on
Hello peeps, I've been having this issue with my new pc I built and I was hoping someone might have some insight in how I can potentially fix it. So, as I attempted to boot up and play WoW on my new rig, my computer turned all black with red hazy outlines of the past scene before crashing and shutting down after like 20 minutes. The first time this happened I got a cpu overheating warning. I went ahead and put more thermal paste on my cpu and tried it again. The game lasted longer this time, but then crashed again in the same way, but didn't give me the same warning. Now, my processor, motherboard, ram, case, ssd are all new. my power supply and my graphics card are carry overs from my past build. I'm wondering if for some reason my stock air cooler isn't efficient enough to play an mmo like that? My previous rig had a watercooler, but I can't use it on this pc. I've played I believe less demanding games before on this new pc for hours on end, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a graphics card issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@analog hearth, love the pc keycap I've actually been eyeing one myself. How does it feel?
it’s been great. I would have gone with a different linear switch but I already had Gateron Reds laying around. the switches mixed with the foam mod, lube in the switches, and PBT key caps, it gives off more of a cream sound rather than a thoccy sound
my boss convinced me to get COD MW2 so I decided to build a keyboard for it
get one. just don’t go with big brands like Corsair or Razer
tip: if the company makes PC components, their keyboards are usually overpriced
you can actually get double the features that a Corsair K65 Lux has for half the price if you go with Royal Kludge
Ah no I already have a keyboard I just also want a mini computer on mine too lol
But you've got the rk 61 right?
Oh, one for each day of the weem
Wekk
Wekk
Week
Oml
What are you most satisfied with?
Having tried the rk61 vs keychron k2 I would say keychron
On stock settings
With extra mods though not sure which would be better
My sister managed to accidentally pick out an rk61 lmao
Nah I told her to find a keyboard she liked
Out of all the crap board on amazon she chose that
With reds lol
Well, it's not a bad budget keyboard tbf
Yeah, I meant it as a good thing lol
It just came in
safe to say im jealous
LMAO
I'm not lubing the keyboard for her
She's 11 years old and wouldn't even notice a difference
Yea fair enough
bro my wifi speeds are so slowww
Should I buy the A-2 or the A-2’S’? I can’t find any real differences besides more free nozzle attachments on the A-25
idk, i have the A-2 and it's fine
Tysm for the response
Are there any differences?
I’m at work and can’t find any
Might need to reinstall Java. Ideally remove all installed versions and install the latest.
Hey, I got a quick question if anyone is around to answer it
If I am currently rocking a 1080ti but wanna get a nicer card what would the move be with about ~$1000 for budget
Give or take like $200
What’s your daily use case looking like?
odd that’s not a steam deck
@tidal moth what is that control box under your desk?
next to your headset
lookin for specifics but thanks
the placement of that gave me an idea on where to relocate my dmx controller at though
looks like some sort of proprietary xlr port on the front of it on their website. never seen a femal plug that looked like that before. :/
found it i think
damn that link is ass
If you wanna get as much perf as you can you'd be able to get a 7900XTX or RTX 4080 for around $1100-1200.
Otherwise I am pretty sure you can get a 7900XT for $1000
7900xtx is and has been sub $1000, 7900xt around $800
I have a question i have the 7900XT by gigabyte and a Freesync monitor. The Adaptive sync shows "On" in the monitor menu do i have to turn on Adaptive sync Compatible in the Adrenaline Software from AMD?
Yes
You know didn't even think of that solution I was reading online to update to windows 11 since a windows 10 problem but after updating still had the problem then did this one can't remember what it was at the moment and still having problems I'll try to update Java when I get home thx
You are kidding it’s a scarlet 2i2
It’s like the most popular audio interface on the market
Lian li a4 h2o
In what way is that standard XLR plug proprietary ?
And on that note, is this the plug you usually see?
That's not standard. There's a big fat hole right in the middle of it
That is standard
The big hole is for a 1/4” jack
dude doesn't know his audio interfaces
sorry i don't know whats common on the consumer market and not professional market. my bad
this is what is common
this also is what is common
you wont find anyone in the profesional market using xlr plugs like that one you provided
Yes you do lmao.
Bro, I’m literally in the professional market and I see them all the time
XLR3 with 1/4" jacks are incredibly common.
I’m in and out of professional recording studios almost weekly and I see them everywhere
i havent seen them so idk what to tell you
Your personal experience does not dictate weather or not they are an industry standard. They absolutely are.
so to me, its not common
Welp they’re industry standard for the most part 🤷♂️
Dude, they're an industry standard
Again, you not having seen any doesn't mean they're not an industry standard
I've seen em around even in consumer products
any particular reason you're still goin on about it or is this a you want the last word situation on it?
I dunno, guess I just don't have anything better to do right now
What do you intend to use the PC for?
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, Radeon RX 6800 XT
The build probably needs a different RAM, and a microATX case that can fit the GPU without the case being overpriced
if you're going to ram tune https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6JLFf7/teamgroup-t-force-vulcan-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-5600-cl32-memory-flbd532g5600hc32dc01
if not the kit you had is fine
Fractal pop mini is good too
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/tGmmP6/asrock-b760m-pg-riptide-micro-atx-lga1700-motherboard-b760m-pg-riptide this board as well if wifi isn't needed
Games
which games lol
Tic tac toe
Snake
Wait the gpu or cpu LOL
Fire
been used pretty much consistently since it was purchased
in 2016 or something
i am the third owner
Yes
Also that board is not really worth it
Asrock has a z690 itx for I believe the same price rn
Would be a better investment unless your cooling capabilities of the case is hilariously low
(needs a new cpu)
explain more
cause it'll probably be on XMP but that's it maybe, it's for my cousin who plans on building
also great case but i hate how you gotta pay for shipping + USB type C (but he might like it)
but uh do none of the fractal cases have fan hubs?
If xmp then the kit you had in the list is a fine choice
alr alr, I wonder if I can do that on my build though.
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600K, Radeon RX 6650 XT, Lian Li LANCOOL 205 Mesh C ATX Mid Tower
I mean the build will 100% need wifi but is it better to buy this + antennas or the network card thingy (I have no clue what it's called) or the gigabyte b760?
If you need wifi, you can get one of those intel ax kits and stick it in an m.2 slot
There's a slot on the board labelled for it under the first pcie slot
But that's only if you can do it for cheaper overall
ya i think i’ll skip that considering that has 2 m.2s for storage, and ik he needs a bit for photography
I mean, unless you can fit an m.2 2230 instead it's probably not gonna slot like that 💀
It's specifically made for wifi
^
i’m kinda lost ngl
does this wifi plug into the same m.2 i’m thinking about?
i mean ax kits
Yes
I mean they could take place of normal m.2 slot
Or one made for wifi cards
gotcha gotcha..
But in this case the board has only one m.2 slot, another for wifi I presume
ya, i mean there’s a 2230 for the asrock but
i don’t think i’ve really looked into 2230 SSDs before
or i’m stupid and there isn’t a 2230 ssd
but back to my build, is it possible to overclock effectively and if i were to upgrade to a 6800xt, would I need a bigger psu?
nah you wouldn't 750 is enough
alr alr.
850 is a rec but 750 ok
750 is enough for a 6950 XT on that note, unless it's paired with a 13900k
me personally i would save for a 6950xt
6950 $400 wen
6800xt is a great card its just 6950xt is really good for the price
