Definitely feels that way for sure, you wanna see mainstream affordable cards that are able to handle technology like this at native resolution easily without any use of upscaling or FG. I think what's going on is two things, one is that Nvidia just have so much of a foothold on the tech space that whatever they implement goes, another is that games are getting more and more complex so solutions like these are needed to save "time" because it's just realtime calculation instead of predetermined values.
