Yeahhh I usually use barbed fittings with the metal hose clamps on them
I also thought about using a press tool to put press fittings on copper pipe but I think I wanna avoid copper again that was a headache

1/2" copper fits in regular 16mm compression fittings really well. My biggest issue was 90s. of course you can just use dual compression fittings but that's kind of expensive. I bought 90s to solder on but my soldering skills made me not use them. I also got a crossbow bender but didn't realize how horrible the bend radius is. 3" bend for a 90 is huge in a computer case
plus you gotta anneal the copper
I tried using refrigeration pipe too but even with that tool to straighten it, it doesn't get perfectly straight like regular Type L/M sticks
