It is illegal though. You don't have the right to the music. YouTube has the rights. Downloading from YouTube without using YouTube itself is illegal. Same thing with downloading Pandora/Spotify songs without their respective authorized programs being illegal as well. You literally aren't paying for the rights to the music like you would be if you bought the song specifically or a CD, etc
With YouTube, etc apps, even the free versions, you get limited rights in that you are free to listen to them whenever.. On those platforms, since they lease the rights of that music from the artists.
