Oh yea I just watched invincible start to finish yesterday and loved it
I recommend the g242 over the g24c4 since it's IPS instead of va
Ohb yeah that then
it's $190 on newegg and B&H but a slightly better deal might be out there if you look since Ik I got mine for $180
Monitor naming so confusion thats the one i meant lol
Makes me think of this comic lol
Lmao so true
Part of me almost feels like its intentional so people won't ever truly understand what they're buying and it's easier to overcharge or mislead
yes and the fact 4k is actually 3.8k lul
^^
Yea like it was a huge thing for me and why I asked a lot of people for help on this discord and elsewhere because I was like I don't know what to look for in monitors, and unlike other hardware I don't understand what any of the specs mean
like i understood refresh rate, resolution, and sorta panel type and that was it lol
Naming scheme isn't as bad as Intel's naming scheme rn
nah
Yea or like color stuff or brightness was super lost on me
intels is sequential
Intel at least I can look at the product number and know the generation and know where in their lineup it sits
yeah lol
like yes a ton of products makes it confusing but at least they pretty much make a tierlist of sorts lol
lol
Lmao
Msi g242 is pretty good it's what I use
Hi, so my computer has had some blue screen problems that I couldn’t figure out, my computer crashed randomly while playing a game and my monitor just went into basically sleep mode (orange light) instead of staying on (blue light) not sure why or what happened
Also sorry if this isn’t the chat to ask about that
Tried the monitor on a PS4 and it was fine, also tried unplugging multiple times
Yeah that's a pc crash not a monitor problem but are you running any overclocks or anything
Update video drivers
What should i use to clean my monitor? I already know glass cleaners are bad but what should i use just kitchen roll and water?
Yee just water
Maybe some isopropyl alcohol
Really would that not affect the coating?
Thanks tho think I'll just stick with water so my monitor doesn't smell awful tho lol
If it works for phones which literally have touch input it works for monitors
Alcohol evaporates quick
No smell after 2 mins
Cleans cleaner as well
Hmm i guess
Think I'll just stick to water anyway effort of finding my rubbing alcohol
Download whocrashed then
Can’t get into pc
mightve shorted something. Try unplugging and plugging things in. Reseat your gpu first. Goodluck man
Oh right look for any obvious burns on your mobo. What kinda psu are u using?
+any mobo codes?
What cpu do you have? Integrated graphics might save the day
I'm just assuming it wont even boot
Black screen, monitor isn’t getting any hdmi signal
try another input on the monitor, if you have a cable for it
I’ll have to buy one, could it still be the input if it worked with my PS4 but not pc
Just for the sake of it, clear cmos and does your cpu have Integrated graphics if so hook it up to that instead of gpu for moment
Unplug the computer, take out the silver, round battery on the motherboard, and wait 10 minutes before you put it all back
Well what cpu do you have?
Ryzen 5 3600
Ahh not an option then
Rip
Maybe you guys can help. Think I have a borked monitor but I bought https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34gp83a-b-gaming-monitor from Amazon. Hooked it up and worked like a dream for like 45min then went to do some other things. Come back, turn my PC on from sleep and now it just flickers constantly. Tried switching outlets, DP cables, changing settings on the monitor and computer. I have another Gsync that still works perfectly so it's not the GPU or drivers. Any other suggestions?
have you attempted to turn down the refresh rate at all? (or at least check where it's set)
also make sure you use the included power cable or one rated for use with that 34gp83a
yep, tried @ 60hz and still flickers, and also am using the dedicated power brick that came with it
what's odd is this morning it was acting fine - but it still flickers occasionally, not as bad as it did yesterday
but still annoying
how about leaving the monitor unplugged for a bit? sometimes purging voltage helps
other monitors work with your setup too?
The samsung g9 seems to have mixed reviews.. and the g9 that some youtubers reviewed seems to be the 2019 model (lc49g95t) ... anyone have the C49G97T model?
Try it with gsync off. No clue why it would be flickering. Def might be borked
On my weekly dumpster diving trip i found a 4k brand new pristine looking dell monitor
Problem is it has one of those LCD impacts with the black and the colors if you know what i am talking about
What should i do?
Replace the LCD
Which is better, Nano IPS or LED IPS?
Did someone summon me using the words “nano ips”? The LG fanboy?
LG is the bestest brand in the screen space change my mind
Couldn't agree more! I love my LG Nanocell 4k TV. Performs flawlessly (other than the built-in buggy web browser lol)
@fading wyvern I'll definitely take heed since I'm window shopping for a better gaming monitor

So as a follow up another person replied to your question, (think he got banned) he said something along the lines of, “Nano ips for response times and LED ips for color accuracy.” I believe LG is starting to refresh their lineup so if you wait a bit you’ll see older panels for cheap and the new ones with cool features.
And yes he is generally correct.
So as a follow-follow up Zechter actually bought the new refreshed line up b-b model LG https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gp83b-b-gaming-monitor
HDR10 on that bad boy
what type of stuff will resetting the cmos do?
It clears all of the bios settings, which can help in a few cases like bad or corrupt settings.
ahh I see
Very happy with the purchase~ Even without HDR 10 on it's definitely an awesome monitor!
Alright so i ordered an m27q, but they sent me a brand new gigabyte g32qc. do i say anything?
You should but I wouldnt
i mean rtings rates the m27q slightly better but its also smaller and not curved
Morally? Yes tell them.
Personally? I'd keep it
Got my case fans that way...
i dunno cuz the one they sent is worth more it looks like
M27q is a better panel than g32qc afaik
yeah rtings rates it like .7 higher
I mean, it's also just better
but g32 is bigger and curved
Refresh rate color accuracy response time etc
ips vs VA
Yeah M27Q is better panel, but it's also $100 cheaper than the 32" they got
ya
Yea, and it's IPS while g32qc is VA
i mean it is on sale atm
I'd personally definitely tell them
also no curve and smaller than the one the guy recieved
Many people don't like curve, and bigger isn't better
yeah true
true true
You're a videophile though lol
Hell, I'd get 27in 1440p for the better pixel density than 32in :p
only a benefit if they like curved ;-; but tbf sounds like they do
i did get it for $198 too
well now u got choices i guess
Videophile? >:(
v
You know, like audiophile but video?
Lol
contrast on g32qc blows m27q out of the water
thats any va vs ips
Meh, VA tends to have better contrast, that's to be expected
angles are crap ya
But color accuracy is bae
It's not an insult it just means you like your stuff to be better quality
Yeye just saying how it sounds very very made-up
yeah m27q is 9.1 cvompared to 7.5 in color
post cal its 9.4 to 9,4
hmm
ya i'll tell em
just so i dont get in trouble i guess
Oh gawd
haha
my monitor doesnt have a display port, if i were to use an adapter would the monitor still cap my fps
uh
what
If the display itself is only rated for 60hz, switching cable won't do anything
check your video card settings (nvidia or AMD driver) to see if you have vert-sync forced for all games.

does anyone have a rtx 3090
Yes
Why though?
Yeah I've got the Aorus Xtreme Waterforce one, with an AIO attached. Not cheap at all. I honestly would have preferred a 3080 but I'll mine the cost difference.
yea
nice
i think
theres a pny rtx 3090 nearby lemme check
wait there is one online
It's far from the best model but it'll serve me well for a long time I think
SLI supported games are getting pretty rare tbh
Even using a weaker GPU as a dedicated encoder or PhysX processor is dying out
good graphics dont come cheap
yea its kinda crappy thi
Definitely can't argue that
We're a US based server, it's the middle of the night
Apposed to the super smart Europeans right? XD
ayo which is better
PXC327
or g32qc
or
best 32 inch 144-165 hz gaming moniter?? va/ips under 350 dollars
well i would like a bigger moniter D:
I like better pixel density
i was originally gonna go for a 27 inch+side mounted 21.5-24 inch moniter but my desk is 48 inches in total so its not much space
do you think a 48 inch desk would be enough for a pc, 27 inch moniter, and a side mounted 21.5 inch moniter? @visual pilot
yeah ican get the acer montier+cheaper side moniter for a bit more
Eh, depends on you and how you use your space
ig i could if i have the side moniter off the edge
m27q
Hi guys, i own a Benq EX2510 and in games theres this kind of ghosting, like a black trail of previous frames on moving objects. however when i took a ghosting test from blur buster it seems fine. Does anybody know whats up? i tried turing AMA 0 - 3, turning on blur reduction and all but the issue seems persistent on AAA titles. i dont notice it elsewhere.
Not too educated on the issue but it’s gonna be between your gpu, monitor, and cable. Have you tried using a different cable or monitor first to see if you can replicate the issue?
i tried using another hdmi cable, the issue was still present.
is your pixel response set to the highest setting?
Have a cheap monitor or even TV to try it with?
or the lowest setting?
Its not the wire or the card
I tried various AMA settings, 0 - 1 as well as blur reduction.
Oh ok
yeah i tried it on my tv, the issue seemed worse i take it had to do with worse pixel response time than my monitor
what graphics card?
RTX 2070 super
also is AMA on premium?
i dont get you
Go into AMA settings
there are 3 AMA settings, from 0 to 3.
so 3
yeah like i said, tried all 3 options
Switch it off then
yeah 0 is off, right?
no, the setting just shows options from 0 - 3
can you stream this to me?
Because the datasheets I have pulled up are giving conflicting data
Hey guys, quick question. I have a 1080 and I currently run a 27inch QHD monitor and want to buy 2 more QHD monitors. Will a 1080 be able to run 3 monitors at that resolution smoothly?
My current monitor is 144 refresh rate, and the other 2 im thinking will be like 60 or 75. i jsut want them for work / coding
Oh yeah, no problem. All could be 144hz if you wanted
Yes
The only issue you'll have is if you try and game on all three at the same time in an extended format
i dont plan to do that. If i game i only use 1 monitor to game and the others for windows or music etc. good to know. ty
Yeah, no issues with that whatsoever then
monitors are expensive right now. Do you think its worth waiting at all? OR should i just bite the bullet you think?
If there is a GoodWill near you you might want to go check them out. Can often find good second hand monitors at cheap prices
It looks to be about 200-250 for a QHD monitor nowadays but i dont know if the prices will ever drop back to what they used to be
Monitors arent too expensive rn
I'd say monitor prices have gone down for the past year
If all you want is 1080p 60-75 hz, they cheap
Ah
haha fair enough. Yeah i want 2 more 27inch 1440p monitors
they run at about 200-250 but I thought that was ok price. BUt people at work were saying they were cheaper at the start of the year, but i wasnt looking then so Im not sure
Cheapo 1440p panels should be around the 150-200 mark I'd say
Lemme check
Refurb monitors around 180$
yeah. and i am always hesitant to do refrub when its only 20 bucks or 40 bucks cheaper. paying 10% more for new is ok with me.
I'd say the M27Q is pretty gud
When I first got it for whatever reason it was locked in 4k bc of a nvidia setting though but now that's in 2k seems pretty great for the price I got it at
little more than i wanted to pay. I already have a nice 144hz gaming monitor i like. I just want 2 other ones to mount and use for work and what not.
i was hoping to get em under 200, but it looks like for the 1440p resolution, you need to pay about 200-250 depending on brand for a 27inch
Gotta wait for a sale to happen again
yeah it is memorial day this weekend so i was hoping something would pop up.
think i have gotten a good deal here, LG has monitors for $170 @1ms and 144Hz 24in, i got two of them, no better than any other monitors i saw over or under this price
Msi have one i think
Do you think i should get quest 2 or 1440p 144hz monitor?
Ehh depends on if you want a quest/1440p monitor more lol
Need a tiny bit of help; trying to get sound through my monitor working but having some trouble
I have an HDMI cable
It's plugged in and noticing it
But seems like no sounds coming out
(And yes it is indeed unmuted)
Does your monitor even have built in speakers? Some don't
Last I checked yeah
Has two little red speakers on it
I have the HDMI plugged in through the GPU
Is that the problem?
No
Have you updated your gpu driver
Outdated drivers?
That would do it
@quartz sandal Hate to ping but still no sound :/
Nah I will RN
Still seems to do nothing....
Where did I mess something up hmmm
Output device is set to your monitor in sound properties?
Well
It doesn't have speakers according to their spec sheet
It DOES have an earphone out though
Hence the reason for colume control
That one you're sure?
Can you confirm the model number?
Yes, it does not have speakers. It just has a pass through audio for connecting headphones or speakers to the audio port on the monitor
Confirmed by a ton of sources
Sorry :/
how many dead pixels is too many dead pixels on a new monitor? 😅
I have one dead pixel in the top right
Depends on the brand, but most I've seen will only accept RMA with 8+ dead pixels
It's MSI but I ordered from Newegg
Maybe ask @true iron about it, they'll check the specific return policies
it's more so one of those things if it's being too picky to return because of one dead pixel
That's your call honestly. A single dead pixel wouldn't bother me too much personally, depending on where it is.
top right on a 34" monitor
Probably wouldn't bother me too much then but again, that's your call
how can i get freesync to work with a gtx1650 i have TERRIBLE screen tearing in game
my monitor has freesync support but doesnt have displayport
model numbers, it's normally listed in the spec sheet or manual
it just lists it as hdmi in
Ok so i found a website that lists it as hdmi 1.4
I guess i can't use freesync
good 200hz curved? 1080p.
Question for high-end monitor minds: If you had a 27" Samsung Curved 1080p & were about to get an RTX 3070 or 3080, & only 'upgrade' once every 4-7 years: What monitor would you target? Asus Swift ROG, LG Ultragear, Acer Predator, LG CX Oled...?
M27q
M27Q, 1440p 165hz
GSync & HDR thoughts to the above?
no concerns about lack of dp 1.4?
(suppose i ruled that one out a while ago due to freesync & older dp std)
Also- Do I have it right that freesync works w/Nvidia now? (sorry- a bit of news to me)
Well that'll save some money on the options- tyvm - had no idea
You bet!
for now I need the GPU to get either perk 😄 - GTX970 only works w/Gsync native. zero freesync support.
I had an HDMI cable connection to this Samsung C27F591: swapped it out w/a DP 1.4... oh my- what a difference even for an older monitor
Dp just superior especially with older models when hdmi was hella lacking
wait what changes with HDMI -> DP?
I have a 1080p 74Hz connected thru HDMI.
(yes, 74Hz. My other monitors run at 75Hz and this one suspiciously only lets me OC to 74.49999Hz. I smell firmware lock? 🤔)
(sort of a tangent, but I wonder if it's possible to mod the fw to allow 75Hz?)
ehhhh 0.51 frame doesnt make a difference
it's frustratingly close
This looks interesting: https://www.monitortests.com/forum/thread-custom-resolution-utility-cru
Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) is an EDID editor that focuses on custom resolutions. CRU shows you how the monitor defines resolutions and other capabilities and gives you the power to change it. Add
eyyyy
I made a number go up slightly!
I used CRU's "Exact Reduced" mode
Just curious, was anyone in robeytech stream on Friday and he was showing/telling specs of a gigabyte monitor but couldn't get the rest of the name.
whatever platform he was streaming on, the stream should be available to rewatch as video. You just have to remember which part of the stream it was
Anyone got any recommendation for a dual monitor mount. Trying to work with two diff 27in mounts budget is around $100
$100 is a very large budget to work with, I'd just recommend getting one that mounts to the edge of the desk if you're able, from there it's just if you want them fixed or to have the flexibility to move them
@inept, he never said the model, just the specs, and while he was doing a giveaway. So chat was impossible to read. That why I'm asking
Features Multi-Platform built-in KVM 4K UHD 144Hz & HDMI2.1 SS IPS panel with 1ms GTG 8-bit color & HDR400 Black Equalizer & Aim Stabilizer Sync GameAssist...
Hey I'm looking for a cheap second monitor, I currently have an ASUS VG278Q 27in 144hz but want like a 24 inch second monitor display. Also am on the fence of if I want to vertically mount it or not. Any feedback would be much appreciated!
If it's just to watch videos and check discord while you're gaming literally any 1080p monitor will do
If you want to mount it just make sure it's vesa compatible
My secondary was free
My old roommate left it behind
What monitor should I get for my RTX 2070 for 400 and below
Valorant, Cold War maybe, warzone, Minecraft, csgo
Like it’s a pretty okay card not exactly 1440p but it can do it
Ah okay so probably a 1080p screen
Yeah
Looking for crazy refresh or just 144?
144 or above is fine
Something that will make my flicks better and not too exspensive
Msi g424 is a good budget monitor at 144hz the hp x24i is also solid for cheap
If your looking for something more expensive https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0845QFDVM?tag=rtings-mn-r-20&ie=UTF8

This is the smaller one
Ok thanks, if I’m prob gonna get my gpu in a couple or one week then gonna sell my 1060 for like 350 maybe
Np 👍
can a 750 ti support a 240hz monitor?
ok ty
It won't be able to game at 240fps so I'd definitely tune it to 100hz or something so you're not getting less than your refresh rate, cuz having less fps than refresh looks 💩
dvi and hdmi 1.4a can only do 144hz at 1080p, so no
itll run just not at 240hz
anyone have a 4k preference for the 32-38" HDR IPS monitors out there for a guy who just got an RTX3070! #Neweggshuffle
whats the best monitor under 190? should i go for the px248 prime s or something else
i'm willing to go to around $1k
not sure if I should wait for mini-led to drop or just add $300 & dive into an LG oled CX panel.
I have a 27" 1080p Samsung curved now. want to push this card a bit.
hp i24x msi g242.
This is usually where the LG fanboy in me shines and id recommend https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gn950-b-gaming-monitor
BUT it seems to be out of stock everywhere so im looking for alternatives
1440p is also a super noticeable upgrade if your looking to save some cash and still get crazy framerates.
I like the 32-38" options but I've heard the HDR on the ASUS ROG Swift's is a difference-maker. what's your take?
DLSS help with my wishes for 4K here you think? does it make a big impact?
I dont have too much personal experience with the dlss scene rip my gtx 1080... but my brother who plays on a ultrawide has said to me "its gross and weirdly blurry" that was about warzone
Ive also heard that hdr gaming like that is pretty awesome. its up to you though. The LG cx tv is usually great but like lots of people hate the size especially if u have to sit up next to it
right and I'm at about 3 feet currently could be 5 if I built it right.
good idea but wish they had a 32-38" 😄
there really aren't many "gaming" monitors that size that are 4k, most are 27" then it jumps up to 43"
it seems like a bit of a gap there- you're right
Features UHD with HDMI2.1 & 144Hz SS IPS panel with 1ms GTG 8-bit color with HDR400 Premium Sound by Audio ESS SABRE HiFi ANC For Console & Black Equalizer...
found one
uhh g242 is out of stock on amazon, what should i get instead of that
bruh, $3k???????
AND backordered
at that point just buy a tv
and that hdr is sus af, one brightest is 500 and the other 1400
granted, 500 is still great but what forsaken setting must you enable to get 1400
Still not worth $3k... lol
oh, it's mini led
wait a second, since when is monitor technology up to par with tv technology?
lul, did you see the "compare with similar items" section?
barely even equals half the value
if you go 1440p id strongly recommend going 27inches
34 because girth
but the blur oh the terrible blur
4k is really nice, even on lower settings compared to qhd and hd, but not many real gaming monitors at 32"
yeah the LG CX is prob the best bang for the buck if u really want some crazy hdr 4k gaming.
just over 1k perfect blacks insane response times only 120hz tho (but at 4k u cant even push that)
"just over" $300 over
yeah. I have a 47"LG 3D TV from 2012. it's still going. Super LG fanboy.
however.. 48" minimum..ugh
watch out for windows tho. the finish on it is super gloss
got one for my mom so when i visit if i ever pick up a new console
the 55" was the same price as the 48" for months
yeah
but ur shopping for a monitor not a behemoth

Amazon.com: HP X24i Gaming Monitor | Computer Monitor with 144Hz Refresh Rate and IPS Panel Screen | 24 Inch Monitor for Entry-Level Players | AMD FreeSync Premium Certified Monitor | (2W922AA): Computers & Accessories
one left
stands terrible but u can mount it to a nice one later
oh rip its used wasnt paying attention....
yeah I won't be downgrading- lol- 27" curved Samsung 1080p is still decent. we're doing a 10 year purchase that won't kill my retina's
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-nitro-xf243y-pbmiiprx-23-8-full-hd-monitor-hdmi/6425559.p? @maiden wedge its a bit over budget but its what rtings is suggesting
or u can wait for other stuff to get in stock
the lg cx 55 has been lower than the 48 before, the 48 is a terrible bargain
feel like they should've dropped to sub $1k by now considering the 55" rate
but... silicon shortage
the new panel version is dropping now if u wait a little
suppose to be much better contrast
i can. it'll be a 'i just sold a big contract'-type bonus. have time
nice gotchya
I got a 55" sony a8g back in 2019, they were doing 10% off open at the store I went to, I got a satisfactory one but it was acting up so they exchanged it for a geek squad certified excellent one and I still got it under 1k
games looked great on it but I realized I was watching more tv in bed so now it's sitting in my bedroom
my big screen is just a projector on a blank wall
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-23-8-fhd-amd-freesync-gaming-monitor-black/6442434.p?skuId=6442434 @maiden wedge in stock at bestbuy tho its not cheap
actually, just stalk best buy, they get tons of open box monitors
if they have too many you could even ask a manager for an extra discount
they also price match amazon if u push them
always wiggle room on open boxes at best buy
sony using some of them lg panels. think they actually have the new tech first
well it's not the panels that they push as new, more so the processors that do the upscaling and such
yeah the image quality and processing on them sonys is 👍
anybody have strong opinions on the best 34" qhd monitor? since my graphics card situation is settled I think I've got some wiggle room to splurge
eh thats over my budget
should i get this? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-optix-g241-24-widescreen-gaming-lcd-monitor-hdmi-displayport-black/6406781.p?skuId=6406781
the g241 is great the previous version of the 242
have you looked through amazon warehouse to see if they have anything?
i dont think i did
is this monitor good or is there a better alternative? https://www.amazon.com/VP249QGR-Monitor-FreeSync-Extreme-DisplayPort/dp/B083FMP35T/ref=sr_1_8_mod_primary_new?dchild=1&keywords=1080p+120hz+monitor+24+inch+ips&qid=1622774328&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sr=8-8

Msi g242 i think that's the model num is basically the same and cheaper
Alright, thankyou
They so similar idk what even is the difference ahh
242 is the newer version, I believe the bezel is different and maybe the stand
nooooo
Ah I'm nothing special

Potatoes are great
dont think your s/o would appreciate then lol
yeah ik but usually dont
What they don't know... can still hurt them
she doesnt mind tbh
explain.....?
She makes me watch chris hemsworth movies because she simps him
poly?
lol
ohhh lol
I can simp anyone as long as I keep it to simping
everyone does mate
Yessir
Well if someone is cheating (even emotionally cheating) they tend to treat their partner differently which can hurt the relationship
just look damm
ahhhh yes i getcha
same lol
yep fal is definately simpworthy... great choice.
I didn't realize I'd gather a cult following lol
Lol a few days ago someone couldn't remember who helped them before, just that "they had a cat pfp"
Like dude, that's half the server
If it was I didn't remember them
I don't usually do GPU overclock help, especially AMD
fal best
Now you've won me over
ill send a few after im done eating
Uhhhhhh
sure
I said sure
its mouse fried egg
i swear
yes
im big cat i eat chiken
tbh when fals pic isnt zoomed into it looks like a star wars helmet kinda thing
i only offer dog pics sorry :/
I can probably find another pic of my cat to use I just thought she was cute chilling in my backpack

ohhh i thought it was under a rag lol
Well the cat's out of the bag now I guess
This is why I simp you
This is what my cat think of you falcie
Hmm strange there’s a bunch of cats and simps on my display.
Might just be badly calibrated or you’re not use to that color profile
well my monitor is the lg gl83a-b or something if that tells you anything
Ohh night mode maybe also
im not on night mode
Darn so close
Check out the calibration section
Mess with the settings a bit and good luck
i must not be used to 6500k
because that looks super warm to me
like really really warm
Might just be more used to super blue screens then. Besides the color how’s the monitor?
Nice
another maybe happy lg customer
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824716001?Item=N82E16824716001 takes on this one?
Uh
If you're going to spend that much, you could get a FI27Q-X, a 1440p 240hz monitor for a pretty similar price @spring sail
upgrading from 27" if I can. you like the higher refresh rate @visual pilot ?
@spring sail bigger doesn't always mean better
I'd prefer pixel density over just big monitor
understood- hence the high prices I'm window-shopping - 4k res for 32"+ is the target you think?
That's my opinion
makes sense
32in is either ultrawide 1440p or 16:9 4k territory imo
so it's back to the $3k Asus ROG mini-led. lol
What's your current monitor?
Heh
With a 3070
@spring sail I'd say a M27q for 310$ is perfect :p
3070 won't have a lot of fun driving 4k AAA games
I've read that- if only the 3080 existed in our current reality 😄
tbh i usually make big purchases like this once every 6-10 years. for me this will be as future-proof as I can spec it
Apparently according to steam almost 1% of computers have a 3080. 1/100 people isn't bad at all.
Well
Best thing you can get atm imo is a FI27Q-X, but not everyone can notice the 240hz
You're not the first to point to this gem. I've been staring at the LG's & Asus Swift's. Didnt know I didnt have to buy a gsync. I like the idea of HDR but know results vary there too. Thanks for the discussion. Not many I can geek out on high end monitors with
rtings and hardware unboxed are very good monitor reviewers (one has a site one on youtube) for the details on things, their reviews on fi27q-x here:

They also have reviews on a lot of other panels, you could take a look at them for those too.
hows this monitor? it's a 1440p 75hz panel from dell
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-27-monitor-s2721d/apd/210-axko/monitors-monitor-accessories?
That link tho 😫
You can usually delete everything after a "?" in the link, like this https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-27-monitor-s2721d/apd/210-axko/monitors-monitor-accessories
Rtings has it as about an average display, 7.4 overall. https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721d
@foggy flame
Looks fairly decent, 8.2/10 for gaming
Compared to M27q, panel comparison wise, worse pixel response and color, but not horrible
It's va instead of ips
missed the VA difference
Oh yea subpixel layout on that is rgb instead of bgr on M27q and fi27q but doesn't really matter as long as the cleartype setting is set to bgr on those panels
then i see this: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/asus/tuf-gaming-vg34vql1b
subpixel is rgb
hdr rating is a big diff
Color and response time are good, but not as good as M27q or FI27Q-X xD
Good in general tho
thanks 👍
also, TIL about the link shortening. appreciate the tip
Yes, link shortening will help a lot in life
Unless? 👀
I just bought an M27q, what settings should I mess around with for optimal performance?
Where is the difference between the M27Q and the G27Q? they both seem to be very similar and the price is kinda the same.
Is it only the higher refresh rate?
Spec wise they look the same but could use diff panels for the 2 models
And pixel response time and color calibration out of box and kvm

Get the msi g242 instead
Cheaper and better
what is everyone's take on the Samsung Odyssey G7? top tier gray-to-gray response time- 240Hz- VA panel but seems to be the top of the heap there. HDR600 but it is 2k. Decent price & I'm not sure my RTX 3070 can push 4k as I'd hoped. Also not really crazy about buying another 27"
(I deserve a bigger panel :D)
Va is meh, I'd recommend looking for ips displays
IPS>VA>TN
cost tiers follow this as well^
VA is fine for light editing an gaming
IPS is necessary for great colour accuracy
TN is trash
^which i care about for sure. I'm noticing anything above 27" has negatives. I watch movies & tv shows but am not a content designer. Gamer for sure. Perhaps the pick isn't to pick- but to wait.
VA is great for you
that's what I was thinking but I need to be strict about gray-to-gray ms & local dimming performance
You wont see a difference unless you actively compare or unless you are into visual design and stuff
that isnt related to VA or IPS
just model
right- that's why i asked about the Odyssey G7- seems to compete w/IPS panels there
big negative there is 2k vs 4k but it might be perfect for my rtx 3070 if I'm being honest w/myself
1440 is still great
& context is I'm upgrading from a Samsung C27F591 so I imagine just about anything not 1080p will feel like a huge upgrade
Was gifted an HP vh240a, but when I unpacked it the stand was for a DELL (not compatible). I can't find a replacement that lists this model, stuff just talks about VESA compatiblity. Any recommendations of what terms I should be searching?
Grab a Amazon basics monitor mount or something. Just clamp it on your desk and free up space under the monitor 😄

Hey... does anyone know if there is a monitor out there that has a 4k resolution but will also have like a 240hz refresh if it's in 2k ?... or is that not a thing
Nothing can push 4k 240hz
Well like.. is there a monitor that runs 4k at 60hz but also has 2k resolutions at a higher hz ??
Usually displays would have to do the highest hz at the highest refresh
Not just usually
All displays have to run their Highest Resolution at the Highest Refresh Rate
No. There isn't a monitor out there like that because it physically can't exist.
There are some TVs that you can run 4k at 60hz and 1080p at 120hz. I'm not sure if any have really gotten beyond that
Mine
4k 120hz
8k 120 can't happen
No cable can do it
Displayport 2 will when there's something that uses it
8k 120 as in it can do both but not at the same time sure
4k120 with HDR on with a PS5, and it does a fake smoothed 240hz https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-75-class-q800t-series-qled-8k-uhd-smart-tizen-tv/6401971.p?skuId=6401971
Multiple cable things
It's not oled so it's bad
lmao ok
It's that simple
If you can go oled because you're OK with that type of size and you don't
You made a mistake
lol 🤡
You're a clown if you go QLED which is just fancy LCD
Not like I was recommending it, I was just pointing out its existence but ok
At this point not really mentioning you
Then why did you ping me
Initially I did but the responses are to this guy
I hate my ISP
Ok, and I was responding to your ping
Yeah
Just letting you know anything I said after the og reply wasn't directed to you
I know you looked for an example display
More like a lot of drawbacks
quick list all of them
I've never heard of that? And how would they? 720p is less pixels than 1080p for example
If any monitor is having trouble changing resolution then it's probably isolated to a few specific models. I've seen a couple 8k TVs that had minor problems before firmware updates but that's it.
Msi g242 is best bang for the buck in the us
Alright yeah, just making sure I don’t buy the wrong monitor and not able to use stretch res in games like csgo, siege, or rust
Ill check it out thanks for recommendation
OLED has a lot of drawbacks?
no lol
It's mainly only burn-in that's the drawback
Unless you mean old OLED, that stuff is dim
Cost counts as a drawback too
Well, higher cost for better picture quality
It’s really just burn in and darker grays that get washed out. The newest panels are claiming much higher brightness then the first few gens. Think it’s like 20%? If you’re looking at spending over a grand on a tv it’s a perfect purchase imo
Yeah
To get nitpicky the screen is super thin at the top of the cx lineup... it’s a bit scary to handle
Tbh who is looking to spend over a grand on a tv tho
Slowly raises hand
We're sure for an upgrade. Our old set is falling apart. I'm surprised it lasted this long, since it only cost $200 over 5 years ago.
Lol, yeah my tv atm was like 2-300 i think and is fine lol, noone in my family really watches enough tv to care, and even then most channels still do 720p video so
Pffft no one's watching cable in this house. Nothing but streaming TV and gaming for this living room. Granted, the kids still mostly play the Wii in 480p but it'll be nice to be able to do 8k on the PS5.
Can the ps5 even support 8k? I guess if it can do 4k 120 why not 8k lol
Yes an update got pushed that allows 8k now
But yeah my mom is the main one that watches tv usually cable or sometimes netflix chrome casted
You need hdmi 2.1 to do it
Consoles need to give in to dp smh
But TVs still don't usually have DP and literally everything has hdmi
This applies to the xbox series too, they can do 8k
Ik but a decent amount of ppl hook them up to monitors
I honestly prefer HDMI to DP
Might as well offer it just 1 port
No VRR for you then
and I also have my apple tv hooked to my monitor so yeah hdmi gud
VRR?
Fal mimicking a car
Then you A-have a new version of hdmi or B-are limited to 75Hz or less
I dislike gsync n freesync tbh :/
It's only good on higher quality monitors, cheap stuff you get worse tearing and such
I leave it off usually unless I'm between 120-140fps
Me playing esports titles
Yeah 2.0 would be good enough to do 120 freesync
2.0b to be exact
Me playing tomb raider in 4k max settings
You have 4k monitor?
Nope, it's 1440p but I use DSR and it's sooooo smooth
SOTTR is a great game as well
But whyy render 4k then ;-;
Better quality
Because if I don't I only use 70% gpu to get 200fps
That's fair, i had to refresh my dsr knowledge for a sec lol
@misty gyro is dsr per game basis or how does it work btw ?
Nah its global
it basically renders at a higher resolution and then downsamples for higher image fidelity
It's easy, you set desired scale options in nvcp and it shows up as a resolution in game, the drivers handle the rest
Interesting
So it's a global option that you can enable per game by simply choosing a higher resolution than your monitor supports
I should try 1440p dsr then
Good 75 inch 4k tvs cost like 2k here
75 inches? Sheesh I thought 60 was too much
We are buying one soon for our basement for movies
75" too big also 4k tv meh you sit so far away anyway....
I think my 55" is too much tbh
Where's that graphic I had for this...
My brother has a 55inch in his room its enough tbh
So for a 4k 75inch 2m will be fine
Yeah that's about right
Nice it will be good then
yep my 720p 55" is around 4m away from seating
Before anyone says "but where's 1440", there's no TVs in that resolution. There's large gaming monitors, but those aren't truly TVs.
Buy a projector instead
just have to replace a bulb if anything goes wrong
Projectors sound like they are about to take off too
Black uniformity and bleed are really bad on projectors, forget HDR
Yeah like a decent 4k one cost 3k and you cant compare it to a tv
🤷♂️
1080p and 120inches is fine on my wall got it second hand for like a couple hundred. Replaced the bulb and it’s golden
If it works for you, great. I couldn't live with the compromises myself.
Yeah I guess you kinda need to blot out any light source in whatever room you use it in. Besides that though I’d highly suggest it for anyone who wants a large picture who happens to have a blank wall
*for cheap and second hand
120" holy 💩
Washed out because of multiple light sources image go!
oo nice
looking for a cheap portable projector to present stuff, any suggestions?
oh hey.
yall knew what i needed before i did
i'd prefer 1080p, might as well buy the better quality one.
i'll add it to the budget list P:
got a newegg link?
P:
ah, i'll go ahead and wait; i don't need one today.
when newegg does a sale next, give me a ping will ya? 😛
thanks
yeah
IT?
imho, that's kinda a core part of business.
like i don't understand how that's contract work
then again, permanent temps are a thing for auto work...
i mean, if they didn't exploit humans, yeah, they do amazing things, but come on... pay people alright?
they went too greedy.
not the ones on the floor moving their logistics sides of things.
they get like $15-18 an hour for walking 20+ miles a day .-.
lots of walking.
how many miles is it? 30?
well, a fulfillment center worker who walks ~25 miles a day burns ~1800 calories just walking per day.
that's not including breathing or anything else... just walking, that's an insane amount of food.
how many lbs of veggies or fruits is that?
i'm just speculating how much food i'd have to smash each day to do the job.
like imagine, okay, this pays me $15 an hour, let's see if that's livable, paying an extra $$$ in food costs because the job literally forces you to consume an extra 1800 calories per day is something to take into account.
but #old-monitors-and-tv be displays P:
musk is worse tbh
yeah
such 1 am in specific niche chat.
[pst, i'm running for US House] and needed this projector so i can show them my projected map of the district because Ohio hasn't drawn the borders yet, and projectors are good organizing tools
mostly rural folks, but electricity is a given at every meeting, just gotta bring my laptop, projector, plug it in, kill the lights, and should be good
huh..
im looking for a monitor that will work well with valorant and csgo budget is $300 any suggestions if so @ me
Gigabyte M27q, MSi g242/g241. The two recommendation champions in this chat @cloud stirrup
If you're doing esports games like that you probably want a 1080p 300Hz monitor though.
Those are valid recommendations for less competitive games.
Go for a tn at 240hz if your going real hard. Not sure what to recommend though. HP omens line up has always had some of the craziest response times but they are fairly pricey
thank you guys for all of the recommendations
That Asus looks really good, great review on rtings too
Might wanna go for the 24/25inch variant though depends on you
yeah but that one is cheaper than 24 inch lol
id go for the tuf one just cuz it looks really good and 1080p 27" is fine
Oh no LG did a bad oopsie and tried to bribe a reviewer. As a LG fanboy I am ashamed.

Was hardware unboxed again btw.

Rip
It was a email chain that they published @modest palm
LG has like 3 separate entities tho for production design and marketing
This was the marketing side in Korea
So, the Korean marketing arm being stupid.
Yeah they make great products. Was very disappointed with that kinda behavior. Yeah the marketing guys were being dumb
Another dumb pr team is sad
It seemed like hardware unboxed critiqued the very fast preset on one of their models claiming it was “unusable”. They still loved the monitor though but LGs marketing was like hey yeah because of a statement like that can you not publish the review on the 32 inch variant? We just wanna make sure you stick to a script please follow these guidelines etc. etc. and we’ll pay you
And also random embargo’s on publishing reviews
Can anyone recommend a 144 hz monitor on amazon that’s in stock
Budget ?
Hmm I guess 200 and under would be nice but if there’s one a little over that’s fine
1920 x 1080 for gaming, also doesn’t have to be exactly 144 hz, been using a crappy 60 hz monitor
Msi g242
@quartz sandal can u send link because u told me that monitor before and it said it was out of stock
Alright
@modest palm yeah g242 is out of stock on amazon, can’t find the g241 on amazon
Not showing for me
https://www.target.com/p/hp-x24i-23-8-34-ips-full-hd-freesync-gaming-monitor/-/A-80924360? @dire musk another great option
stand aint great but its well reviewed on rtings and has vesa if u get a different stand
any cheap options for a 24" 60/75hz minimal bezel display?
Main or secondary display?
If secondary look for 2nd hand should be able to get one for like 30-60$
Actually if it's main either save the extra 20-30$ for a 144hz imo or go 2nd hand
Curved 32 165hz 1440p or non curved 27 Inch 144hz 1440p or Curved 27 inch 165hz 1440p
I’d say either of the 27 inch models. Depends on if you want curved or not, the flat one might be a ips display though so I’d probably prefer that.
I say a M27q
Lol yeah there was no extra info
Is this a good display for gaming
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824012019?Item=N82E16824012019
It’s a great display for competitive shooters and esports but it is a bit pricey. Generally gaming you’ll have a great time with anything that’s above 120hz. Then panel/color accuracy wise the preference is IPS>VA>TN. TN has incredible response times and is generally terrible at color and viewing angles. VA is all bendy and stuff. IPS has the highest degree of color accuracy but can have backlight bleed and pretty lack luster contrast. I sleep now
So it's good but expensive, thanks
Good ultrawide 1440p 144hz+ monitors?
Around 500-600$ without taxes and 34-39 inches@quartz sandal
I saw the gigabyte one i will look at the acer one too
They both 400$ and 34"
👍
The acer is just cuz was ips
I have a va monitor rn and the colors are fine tbh so i dont mind both
How is the oddesy g5?
Probably overpriced , I think theg34wqc looks pretty good might go with it.
I think g5 is stoopid pricing especially compared to the gigabyte
Well one is the gigabyte is ultrawide and the msi one isn't so that's not really a fair comparison
In my country its on the same price or the gigabye one is cheaper, should I get i?
Its 34 I dont mind the curve
Looks cool too
Then you know what you want
what are the odds that I exchange a monitor with dead pixels just to get a monitor with even more dead pixels? 😅
anyone have a suggestion for a monitor 1440p and above, that also is 120 hz refresh rate or higher, and is reasonably priced? thats what im looking for.

im thinking about selling my current monitors, HP 27f's (2), should I? I wouldnt have one when i get my new PC, but, i would be able to buy an M27Q if i get a lil more money
i feel like its too good to be true for the price...
It’s a great monitor a few people in chat have already gotten it, it’s one draw back is text is slightly less clear. Totally blanking on what they use but it’s basically a bit cheaper. At work so too lazy to look it up. @zinc remnant
ight, thanks for the insight
IPS 24' 75 Hz under 150?
Is 1000:1 a good contrast ratio?
You can buy this monitor - Acer 23.6 inch FHD 165Hz Gaming Monitor(165hz and price is 165 dollars lmao)
What is better for less blur, free sync + g sync, or ELMB (also called aim stabilizer)
ELMB. sync tech mostly just removes any screen tearing @surreal quarry
but whats best overall is high refresh rate with good pixel response times
so g sync is better
Sorta
Elmb eliminates some perceived blur
It’s throwing blank frames in between refreshes
🤷♂️
how much do yall think i could sell my monitor for? its an HP 27f.
Looks like it’s on eBay for about 120
Does anyone have a M27Q monitor? For some reason if I have it at less than 144 hz it switches to 4k instead of staying at 1440p
Are you doing this in windows settings or your graphics card settings?
It's just on the monitor I'm pretty sure, windows is set to 1440p
Do it though software instead
Why are you setting less than 144hz
Also I do have a M27q
I don't know how to change the settings tbh, I didn't get a usb cable in my box I only forced it into 2k by locking the nvidia settings to 144hz
What happens when you set 170hz
Also you can navigate monitor settings using the little nub in the back
what is the setting that lets you control the hz? I don't see any options for 170. also are you using hdmi or DP
Is a single green pixel typical of a dead pixel or should i screw around with different cables and stuff?
nevermind answered my own question switched input to one where i didn't have anything plugged in and it was still there. love that
Displayport carries more bandwidth than HDMI
I don't think HDMI can support 1440p170hz without hdmi 2.1
but dp 1.4 should be able to
I'll try out the DP cable then and let you know
Using the DP cable let my go to 170, thanks again!
Yea it's on an really cheap Acer monitor that's been moved around a bunch. It appears to occasionally disappear and then come back. What is with a stuck pixel?
Try one of those stuck pixel sites mb?
More just curious like what exactly a stuck pixel is😂 but I can just look it up.
yeah it's dead, same thing literally just happened to me
I wish mine just kind of fixed itself but nope
Is this it? Coupon code makes it like 267. Or maybe their will be better deals at Amazon tomorrow say on like the M27Q?
Then again the Gigabyte G27Q is sitting at only 10 more dollars I'd the code works
pixio is legit i have a px7 prime from them
I've never heard of them either which is why I'm hesitant. There's an extremely good deal at Walmart for a monitor but it's VA and really aiming for IPS
For that sale price it's good, but I'd try to see what deals M27q will get
That's what I'm thinking too 🤔
