That's the weird part looking at the board specs again. There is the lightning bolt, but it looks like a USB Port.
should be fine. the bolt uses thunderbolt 3 so itll work but thats also another $100 youre spending vs the live gamer ultra
the mobo has thunderbolt 4, just a usb c
ye 6 is thunderbolt 4
So Thunderbolt 3 and 4 looks like USB C, while offering something more akin to a PCI Express Slot. Yes?
ye
Sold.
again though, id just opt for the live gamer ultra instead of the bolt to save the $100
this is completely stock all I have done is add density to my Space-bar by adding some foam under it
should I mod it more? what could I do
the base plate is kinda really hollow
any good budget speakers for recoomendation?
Check out the Redragon website for their speakers. They honestly have good quality ones for very good prices and well they have RGB too
there's multiple options but yeah they're definitely worth it
Thanks for the recommendation!

What kind of budget
can i talk about headsets here
Yep
oh cool
yes, also dont ask to ask
nah ye i know i just was making sure it was the right channel first
anyone got headset recs for under 80$ ish, i was considering the arctis 3's
With or without microphone?
with
Beat me to it. Yep
alright cool, is there any other ones?
Got that at BB for $60 price matched
i like the look of the arctis ones
are there any other ones
damn
ive read some good reviews on the steelseries arctis stuff
it's not bad either
alright
just wasnt sure which one to check out tho
since there's 1, 1 wireless, 3, 5's and 7's
I mean if I had to pick one better then I'd say it's hyper X but by slight means
if its by slight then id probs consider the arctis since i dig their look better
yeah im not into the whole gamer-y look of most products lo
and thought they looked simpler
oh thank u
That's cool
i also got a question cuz
i saw that its wired but it says it has bluetooth too
how does that work
It's wireless
am i misinterpreting
He's talking about the arctics
some of the places said that u could have ur phone connected via bluetooth and have it plugged into a console/pc
Yeah I don't really have a thing for wireless stuff especially headphones
but confused me since its wired
damn the websites comparing the wireless version @dire tartan
oh alr
thats good then
as long as its decent ill be happy
they both are really good headsets overall you see
but in comparison they have their own tweaks
yeah its a stepup from having nothing at all rn lol
yeah i guess ill just figure that whole blootooth thing out when i get it and test it out myself
wired
it just says bluetooth also in
its description
really confusing
there's no Bluetooth for wired
yeah i didnt understand it either
yeah i was beyond confused
detachable
it's probably microphone
mic is retractable not detachable
i cant send images
it says it on their website
in connection
yeah i dont either
bad review articles then i guess
was p sure they were reviewing the wired ones too
confused me for a while lol
aight good to see thats cleared up
thank u guys
@proper summit that's the wired version
I believe there are wireless ones too
I'm not sure of the price
ye ur right
the wireless ones are about 100, while the wired versions are about 54 right now
thank u for the help
website says no bluetooth, but wire is detachable
i guess thats just for portability then?
if you're looking for gaming wireless under 100, I'd recommend the corsair hs70 pro
thank u as well, will definitely consider them too
they look cool and it being wireless is p cool
right now theyre 80 which is p good, ill check up more on it

seemed like the nicest one all around
if you don't need wireless you can get better stuff that is wired for the same price of course
and lower latency
ye
id probs get the wired considering the hs70 pro work by dongle and not bluetooth so couldnt connect to something like mobile devices anyway
thank u tho
can sum1 pls help me pick out parts for a custom keyboard
what price
is $150 enough, thats not my max i just wanna know like how much im gonna need to spend
it really depends what type of "custom keyboard" you want. If you are just trying to get a hotswapable keyboard and swap switches then yeah 150 is good but if you want a kit and then get switches and keycaps then no its not really close
im not super familiar with keyboard stuff but i know some
I think that the bakeneko60 is fairly often recommended (keeb people dont kill me if im wrong) and its 130
you would then just need switches and you can get some for like 30 ish dollars
is this not just a case?
case, pcb, plate, and stabilizers
k thx
if you want high quality then youre gonna have to spend like 200 minimum on the kit alone and even then there are not many high quality options
most boards are still entry level up until like $230 or about
if you wanna connect to phone you can look at the razer barracuda
it has USB c
nah its not something that is necesarry for me, its just if i were to go for wireless id go for that could connect to phones as well
and thank u
yeah
you could connect but with an adapter lol
one of these things basically
USB A to USB C
I love this thing so much
often times I end up hooking up controllers with wire to my phone and there's no lagging because it's not Bluetooth
and yeah
Ah yes the USB host adapter, super useful
I love this thing so much
it feels like I'm cheating IRL
like that one keycard that opens every door
I literally hooked up a whole keyboard to it
and tbh these things just cost a dollar of two at most
ive saved 3 for now
or*
headsets i mean
You could do more than that, you can hook a USB hub to it and connect a keyboard, mouse, and USB drive all at once
@proper summit I'll just throw one in
I know, I did that for my mouse and keyboard
that's why I didn't buy a wireless keyboard
Makes mobile devices SO much more usable, I'm glad my new phone came with one
not that I use it often on my phone
True though
it's just
awesome
which
okay no worries take ur time 👍
currently have the Razer Barracuda X, arctis 3 wired, and Corsair HS70 Pro on my list
@proper summit either
Redragon H510W Zeus 2
or
Redragon H520 Icon
@proper summit
I pinged you twice lol oops
its okay
@proper summit those 2 are wired, here's a wireless one
Redragon PELOPS H818
thank u
eh
i highly prefer coolermaster mh751/752 myself
same price as the h520
but better
my guess was that they really just meant like better than a plastic corsair board
can you extend the range for wireless headphones?
i ordered a new headset. it comes in monday. in the meantime my arctis 7 is way too quiet to game with, even with everything on max. anything i can do to fix this?
amp&dac, apple dongle is good enough as a cheap solution that tends to be better than onboard
only if you care about following the laws
when tyranny becomes law rebellion becomes duty
hindering my wireless range is the last straw
Well if you want to go all rebellious about it...
Do you know what protocol the headset uses?
i'm a computer idiot
Bluetooth? 2.4G?
i got a new gaming headset but reviews says it only has a 6-8 foot range
That's plenty to use while sitting at the PC but maybe not if you want to listen to music while doing dishes or something
Probably just going to be Bluetooth
yeah but i like to go to the fridge across the house while still chatting
my arctis 7 works across the house and out the front door but i've had too many problems with it
What headset is the new one?
audeze penrose
2.4G
i'm a computer idiot. i learned about parts to build my amazing computer. shopping for headphones has been the hardest part of it
Should have PLENTY of range if you use a good wireless adapter on your PC
If the one it comes with is too cheap you can go the hacky way and connect using PC wireless
it comes with a dongle and i heard they're proprietary, so you can't do anything about them
That sounds like quitter talk, I thought you were an anarchist lol
libertarian, but close enough
i know more about doing gun stuff the government doesn't like that computer stuff, but i'm down to expand my horizons
If it has an antenna you can make it go brrrr
2.4 is a very nice band to go brrrr in because you can blame it on the microwave
i just returned my corsair virtuoso. it was the best headset i've ever heard but it's too problematic. i needed to get 2 programs to get the sound right and it just goes in and out. even if i can get it to work it's just gonna keep giving me a hard time
Sounds like a corsair product to me
@calm cobalt how good are you at soldering?
Mustve not heard much
i did welding in high school
Oh
i think i can
Welding is very different
Welding =/= soldering but a few of the skills transfer
i'm good with my hands
What you would have to do is open up the dongle, find the antenna, find the leads to the antenna, splice and solder solder wires to tiny little things about a mm wide on those leads without causing a short, connect an sma connector to the other end of the wires, hook that up to a cheap UHF/SHF amplifier, and connect the other end of the amp to a cheap WiFi antenna
And hope you that the wires you soldered on don't introduce too much noise or impedance and fry the transceiver
i will save this info and think about it when my headset comes in monday. thanks!
As long as you stay under 53dBm and don't cause harmful interference it's legal
my friend's saying there's laws against it because if you mess with wireless wrong it can become dangerous
my concern is messing it up and then voiding the warrantee
That's why you have to stay below 53dBm eirp
This would 100% void the warranty lol
WiFi and the 2.4GHz band in general is the exact same thing microwaves use to heat food. Pump too much power in and you have a microwave without any safeties or shielding
gotcha. thanks
Sure but that takes a few hundred watts to really become dangerous lol
Can u guys recommend me a good but relatively cheap mechanical keyboard
How cheap is relatively cheap
500$?
10$
40-60 bucks
If you are willing to shell out a bit more.. I realllllly enjoy this one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08VNT658R?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Oh dang. It's actually cheaper than when I bought it. The sale It's on is a pretty darn good deal.
Oh. I suppose I should have asked where you were from. My apologies.
Ill look into importing it tho
May not be worth it with customs cost.
Any good 144hz TV's?
Do you mean monitor? Are you looking for 1080p 1440p or 4k?
No I think they meant TVs
But forgot tvs only go up to 120hz really
@ashen ermine https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/by-usage/video-gaming a lot of the tvs on this list have 120hz and would be good
AKKO keyboards or CoolerMaster keyboards ?
model is more important than brand

p sure any akko board will be better than cm tho
Suggestions for earbuds that have the thing that goes around your ears
The sport loop ones?
Like this
Yeah the sport ones, that's how they're marketed since they hold better in your ears when jogging
Budget?
But the ones he bought a while ago are cheap crap that sound terrible
65-80 if possible
Can go higher if needed
Those jlab ones in your pic would be a decent option I think, my wife uses those too
That's what he has, one of them straight up doesn't work
They were like $35
Battery in it doesn't work
$35? Really? They're usually closer to $70-80
Or was it this super cheap model? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/jlab-go-air-sport-true-wireless-earbuds-graphite/6503903.p?skuId=6503903
They were 70 apparently, he just remembered wrong
Ah ok
Hey, y'all, I'm looking for a small VESA-compatible monitor to mount vertically in order to keep pdfs open in for reference. I'm having trouble finding a monitor the size I'm looking for that isn't an expensive portable/touchscreen monitor. 17in max is my preference, since I'm just keeping a page open at a time and don't want it to tower over my landscape monitors. Any suggestions?

@daring zenith kid loves red and is only playing fortnite and roblox

He is 9 if that helps
Eh meh, this'll do fine then

any good mmo wireless mice worth buying right now?
check razer. they have a lot of sales going on right now for their mice
royal kludge
thx
whats a good wireless gaming mouse
for under like 70
the aerox 3 wireless is like 60 right now and im considering it
the viper wireless clone, razer orochi v2 is $40 rn. death adder v2 pro wireless is at the $70 mark, razer mamba, logitech g604, razer basilisk, logitech g305 at $40 granted id rather spend $20 instead of $40. Steelseries rival 3 wireless at $33
my top pick would be the orochi v2 at $40 but its on the smaller side of mice
ye, delux m800db
its smaller than the reg viper and slightly bigger than the mini
and it needs new skates
i have one
it keeps breaking
o ggs i misread
i tried the grexta for a bit and i enjoyed it
its a bit larger than the m800 tho and im not sure about longevity since i only used it as my main for about a week or 2 at most
it looks pretty cool
its shaped similar to a medium sl12
i prefer smaller mice but i managed to ftip it with no issue
since i got the m800 ive been using a ftip grip too
i think i got mine for liek 70 ish after tax
if you can splurge, my fav ftip mouse besides my starlight phantom was the hati s ace or some

My friend is building a Pc with a o11 dynamic razer edition case and he will have 2 27 inch monitors on a mount. How many inches length wise would his desk have to be in order for everything to fit easily and have a lot of mouse movement room as well? Is 63 inches good enough?
63 is more than enough. i have 3 27 inch monitors, a corsair 4000d airflow on a 55" desk and i have space for mouse
since i play at 400dpi, i need a good amount for motion
also my third monitor is vertical so its not taking up as much space but still a good bit
this is old but ye, sits comfortably
This is what I considered
But he said
He may make the monitor horizontal at times
So that’s why I think 63 is good
63" is still more than enough. as you can see in the photo, i still have 2 27" monitors side by side
monitors dont hang off the desk either
Do you have your pc on your desk?
well slightly now but thats because i have an arm for a camera behind one of the monitors
He has a lian li 011 case
cant see it in that picture because its old but itll fit
It’s bigger than the 4000D I think
slight
And he wants to display his Pc in the open cause it’s a very aesthetic build
not a crazy amount bigger
The latter cause it’s easier for him
But thank you @neon root @dire tartan. You guys helped a lot
even though thats an older picture, i just realized now nice it looks with nothing on my desk and no cables just all over the place

lol
I have the edifiers from Amazon and they are good but I’ve heard really good things about the swans I think they are called
Is the g pro or the superlight better they is a 10 dollars difference between the two atm

this is kind of an odd question, but do any of you guys know how to clean the finger marks off of matte plastic mice? Assuming it's oils and not the matte finish being worn off, of course
I'll give that a go, thank you
Xlite v2 or da v2?
I assume da stands for death adder and both are good, just depends on what weight you’d prefer
not sure about the da bu tthe xlite is using flagship sensors and switches
What about viper v2 pro
Bit expensive shipping is like 40 usd
Or xlite v2 superglide
if youre in the market for a xlite or da, i woudlnt consider a viper as an option
kinda suits a dif grip style unless youre not certain about yours

teekayell
They can be reprogrammed.
Those types of keyboards are POS keyboards usually, looks like a magnetic stripe card reader on the top.
The keys have little plastic caps so a custom label can be put inside of them for cash registers and stuff like that.
You're on the right track, it's a smart card reader. People can use it to log in and unlock specialized applications and such.
Are you sure that is not a magnetic stripe card reader?
Most of those Cherry keyboards are used for POS systems.
I mean it could be
I mean a magnetic stripe card reader can be used in smart card applications but those keyboards are usually for POS applications.
Lmao
But without seeing at a better angle it's hard to know for sure
Or I guess we could just ask nachos
They do have smart cards with both chip and mag strip https://www.amazon.com/SLE4442-Contact-magnetic-stripe-10pcs/dp/B01DNB8MPC
any physical differences?
doesnt seem like it

Damn
and an app called iriun webcam
why lol
I mean
I don’t want to hand my phone on top of my pc
Like I wanna use my phone while I calls
then dont... keep it on the table

or against a wall
I really like the elgato facecam or a phone works too
or just reccomend and actual product that theyre looking for
they they said they dont wanna use a phone dont keep recommending a phone
Hey everyone! Looking for some help with cloning my nvme to a 4tb. Can someone recommend a hub that can handle a 4tb? Or just as a hypothetical, if i were to take out the current one(2tb) and put in the 4tb, would i be able to use a hub with the 2tb limit to do a reverse clone onto the 4tb that way?
thanks for any help provided!
dang relegendable prices kinda silly
The only thing I've noticed with using phone as a Webcam is that it gets the phone really hot. At least my phone does.. I would assume others do as well. So while yeah it probably looks better and is the free option.. the heat is way bad for the battery so I feel like in the long run a dedicated Webcam would be the cheaper option.
Leave the screen on minimum brightness, or better yet off
I've tried that. Still gets pretty warm. I bought myself a phone cooler though so it's not an issue for me anymore, but it's something to be aware of.
I need to look into webcams
Idk if this is where to post this but I want a pair of sennheiser headphones for gaming and music but idk what to look for my budget is around 400ish
I've also never used open back but I'm not against it
This chat is good
If you want Sennheiser, maybe 6xx with a schiit stack
Could go cheaper on amp dac and do like fulla
Or if Zen dac is at a decent price again
Ok ty I'll look into it
6xx with schiit stack is great. I currently use it with the the modious/magnius

Why
anyone suggest a gaming headset around $100?
beyerdynamic mmx 100, you could get the 150 for $150
Pc37x might still be on sale
because that was before I knew why the pricing was so ridiculous
https://www.soundguys.com/sennheiser-pc37x-review-27112/ Pc37x

https://www.soundguys.com/beyerdynamic-mmx-150-review-65211/ mmx 150
all are great options
Fresh from Drop and Sennheiser comes the Sennheiser PC37X a minor redesign of Sennheiser's PC headset platform. Does it bring the heat?
The Beyerdynamic MMX 100 brings a straightforward approach—No big features, just a nicely made gaming headset. Is that enough?
wanted some recommendations if possible. i wanted to do a keyboard build thats either clear or translucent since i want it to be kinda like those gameboys and having a somewhat hard time trying to find something relatively cheap since this is mainly going to be a display piece and not a keyboard im going to be using as my main keyboard.
as far as clear keyboards go, only thing ive found really is the idobao cyrstal which is pretty expensive for a keyboard i dont plan on using.
for translucent, theres the kbd lite with translucent cases but ive also found this GAS67 granted they only have 3 colors. idobao also has a few and i think akko has a few cases as well but wanted to see if there was anything else out there
idk about any good clear switches and idk about clear pcbs
Does it need to be functional?
theres dummy keyboards?
You could just not put a PCB in there
then what would i use to hold switches and keycaps? unless theres dummy pcb or i just use something else to hold it
Just get a tester68
If it’s purely for display
You never see switches so who cares, why not just get some nice trays like jtk to show off ur keycaps?
Then get some clear containers for switches
i was planning on getting clear or translucent keycaps so youll be able to see the switches kind of and depending on the switch, the colors with clash a bit which is kind of what i want for the entire look. its for a build look vs just have components laid out
thanks for the recommendation though of the tester68, looks good for what i want
unlike rommys recommendation
well its just for display so its fine
Plate mount
oh ye forgot i could just have it sit on that, but ye the tester68 seems to be just fine honestly
wait clear pcb
looks pretty trippy https://vimeo.com/308634151
This is "Canoe Transparent PCB" by oldcat on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.
i mean ive seen not keyboard clear pcbs
Is a cem3 transparent pcb possible
that weird, wasnt expecting clear pcb, was more so just clear everything except pcb cool
wont go that far though
acrylic stacked kbs are usually p cheap
Been thinking of getting either the G Pro Wireless or the Superlight version, anyone have it and their opinions?
if the superlight fits your grip type/hand then go for it
I need to get a new set of earbuds and I was wondering
What do yall think is a better deal?
I like the moonsparks
Theyre what I have, $90 and imo better
Not at my local stores
Sad
I have cash to use
The airpods and galaxy buds pro are pretty close cost wise
I've heard they're both good
Grab the Galaxy buds pro for sound quality
I do have note though so the buds probably just work better out of the box
I've used the normal galaxy buds
The right side died on me and never turned back on again
So I'm kinda iffy about them
You use em?
No, but crinacle tier list
Crinacle?
I guess they make more sense then the airpods
Ranked higher
Cheaper (for now)
I use a Samsung
If its still on sale tommorow l buy
Which i hope it will be
Buds pro are the better option
And gen 2 airpods for 160 is p bad depending on where you're located
300$ does the job for like entry
damn 300
is somewhere around 200 not enough?
I mean, you can get away with 200$ for kbd67 lite build
Since you said mid range I gave a higher estimate
they're kinda meh
would rather get like kbd67 lite
or bakeneko
iirc alec has a entr that took a good bit of modding to become decent
so what would be some good parts
because i know nothing about it i just wanna upgrade
i have a corsair k65 rn lol
kbd67 lite or bakeneko with whatever switches you like and some decent keycaps, since budget on the low end, might have to do cheaper hkgaming keycaps
There's always the option of going keychron or some other hotswap board and swapping things in for cheaper
Just keep in mind Corsair is crappy and corsair keycaps won't fit most normal boards
(weird bottom row setup)
corsair is corsair
nah im talking abt matrix keycaps
they are regular keycaos
corsair is crappy, thats why i wanna upgrade
Okai
kinda cool but it got delayed alot 💀
that was part of mika right
lmao
What exactly is MX lock?
it works like a pen https://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_MX_Lock
yeah
mfw when it was like 6-8 week fulfillment or somehitng
scammer
oh that dude yeah
the viper ultimate or the v2 pro
i definitely want one of them or a similar shape but
i dont know if 13 grams is worth
80 dollars more
viper ultimate is only worth it at $80 imo, the 13 grams is pretty noticeable depending on the person but something to take into account if youre like me, is that the vu has the rubber side grips implemented into the mouse which is kinda annoying since i like just the plastic feel and the viper v2 pro fixed not only that, but also has bit better mouse feet and feet shape
if you like light weight mice, its worth the extra money imo for the extra weight cut off from the ultimate and also all the fixes theyve done
obv though, you lose out on the charging dock
Has anyone changed the springs inside their switches before?
yeah
long springs the move
ye
long springs (or slow) on tactiles is meta
for linears just get like sprit supremes
unless u like the feeling of certain length springs
or just use stock springs lol
I was wondering if the Keychron Q2 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard is a good keyboard and also if somebody has does it have relatively strong LED lights
Keychron keebs aren't really rgb heavy though
But yeah
I was wondering if this keyboard Epomaker Theory TH68 is overall has good RGB and a good build also if anyone has buys this can you tell me if it is good?
desoldering fun
So I just installed a wifi card supporting wifi 6 and Bt 5.2 from an older wifi card that had only wifi 4.0 or something. The wifi cards detected right away and everything working but I haven’t installed any drivers for it. Should I uninstall my current drivers and install new drivers for the new wifi card?
Ideally yes but if you're not having issues then no need. Wifi is finicky, if it ain't broke don't fix it usually applies.
Wifi 4?
The antennas could likely not work, if it's 1x1
Cause all wifi 6 cards uses 2x2 antennas
I was wondering what is the difference from gateron pro reds and gateron reds
I know that the cherry profile keys doesn't work with north facing led lights but with your honest thoughts do you think this would work:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwwTCN-cJQY

Out of these three keyboard base which one is better build and software GAMAKAY LK67, EPOMAKER TH68 DIY Kit, TM680
yeah
RKs and epomakers should be fine enough feel-wise, cant recc tm680s now tho
large enough failure rate to not consider
You could try, but you can also just get some xda or asa set if you don't want the hassle of trying your luck
And again, longer poles are still luck based solution on interference
Long poles just refers to pole bottomout switches, not the ones with lessened travel that actually could fix the problem
Fixing North Facing Cherry Profile Interference
North facing cherry profile interference can be an issue for many. However, if you have cherry profile and north facing there are still a multitude of solutions you can do
Paper Keycap Modding
The idea here is to raise where the keycap sits, therefore making the switch not interfere. You basically stuff some paper in the keycap stem holes until it raises it enough to where there's no interference.
Pros
- Cheap
- Convinient
Things to Note
- Requires you to manually level your keycaps
- Risk of Damaging Keycaps if done improperly
- Your keycaps will be raised a bit
- Sound profile will be different from a south facing switch
Ball Bearing Mod
One of my favorite mods to do to a switch. What you do is take a steel or brass ball bearing and put it inside the stem pole hole. Usually this ball bearing is 1.5mm in diameter, but you can usually go up to 1.8mm, sometimes 2mm. It is recommended you place the ball bearing in some lubricant before putting it in the stem pole hole so it does not rattle when in the switch. For cheap ball bearings (about $7 for 1000 shipped, take a look here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001175695365.html
Pros
- Also Cheap (about 1000 bearings for $6)
- Firmer Bottom out
Things to Note
Reduced travel in your switches
Sound profile also changes on the bottom out
Long Pole Switches
If you have a long pole switch, you don't need to worry about north facing interference. Long pole switches include Frankenswitches using the nk cream stem, Holy Panda, Boba U4T, Moyu Black, Glorious Panda, etc. To see if the switch you're considering is long pole, look here at the switch database (Credits to @issey83) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uE7yEliE1t5mYYeFJa14iVhLe5udmA9-NgZuRxzZLe8/edit?usp=sharing Long Pole Switches will feature a more firm bottom out with the sound being more pronounced, even more so than the ball bearing mod. Some people call these long poles "Thocky Poles".
Pros
-Firmer Bottom out
Things to Note
- Reduced travel in your switches
- Sound profile changes on bottom out (More pronounced bottom out)
- Long Pole Switches are typically more expensive than normal switches
Switch Washers
Switch washers are put around your switch stems. It stops the keycap from fully seating all the way. Imagine if your keycap stems were elongated by .25-.5mm mm. That's what it does. https://olkb.com/products/north-facing-keyswitch-washers
Pros
- Easy to do
- No permanent damage
Things to note
- Your keycaps will be raised a bit
- Sound profile will be different from a south facing switch
- More expensive compared to the other options (about $4 plus shipping for a pack of 120
Using O rings (NOT RECOMMENDED)
This is a similar though process to the paper mod, but with o rings. You put these around your keycaps stems and it stops the interference.
Pros
- Almost none lmao
Things to Note
- Bottom out is mushy
- Bottom out sound is nearly silent (not very nice)
Sanding down top housings (ALSO NOT RECOMMENDED)
You can sand down the area where your top housing meets the keycap. This requires irreversible altercations to the switch, your top out will feel less solid, and if done incorrectly will end up with your switches being scratchy. It can also be very difficult if your housing is made of polycarbonate or any harder materials.
Pros
- Barely Any
- Solves North facing interference I guess
Cons
- Labor intensive
- Permanent damage to your switches
- Top out sound profile is worse
omg i just upgraded from crappy $40 "gaming" headphones to $150 beyerdynamic mmx 150 headphones. holy crap i have missed out on bass wooo the vibration is crazy wooooh
so... what does it mean by North/South facing switches?
ohh ok. I have north facing switches
but I have kailh switches.
east facing switches are my favorite but ymmv
I have rotary switch
What plate should I get for my keyboard that would make the best sound the for the akko cs silver switch?
i reccomend looking up how not only the plate affects the sound
plate material feel is the less fool-proof part to talk about though
coz imo even for all those keyboard options you are looking at earlier, I don't think it'd make significantly better sound profile nor a predictable one
Juse use it as is, then play around later
No one can say what the "better" one is for you, but only you
oh ok
I am buying the akko cs silver switch and if I buy cherry profile keycaps will it have a north intereference?
depends on the keyboard youre buying, not so much the switch
What keycaps specifically and what keyboard
cherry profile keycaps and TH68
more than likely there will be a bit of a problem with the cherry profile sound unless those switches have tall stems
hey so recently my dad bought me a nice dell laptop with a thunderbolt 3 port
what would better a thunderbolt dock or one of those proprietary dell laptop docks?
like the ones with those big ports on the bottom of my laptop used more for enterprise applications
ok nvm apparently the port is called "e-port" and its really bad compared to thunder bolt
planning on getting the razer seiren mini but the condenser version caught my eye
is there a big diff between both?
best affordable rgb keyboard rn? (i kinda like logitech g ngl)
probably the keychrons
Womier for lots of rgb
does rgb in mouses + keyboards affect performance or fps?
As long as you don't use software to control it, no
sheesh
Very noice
whats the best mic for 30 dollars?
Corsair mouse is starting to do the old double click trolling, kind of wondering about optical sensor mice now
Newegg doesnt have that as a search option on mice though
Fifine K669B
Would be just within budget
I mean, Asus has something fun too
They have hotswap sockets on some of their mice
Then again, the double clicking on some Corsair mice is just down to poor QC
Or undervolting in Logitech's case
I was looking up info shopping for a new gaming mouse and I found people saying that you don't need more than 800 dpi for a 2k monitor. It's this true? Anyone know about this?
That's up to preference
I saw that too much dpi creates errors because it's dividing pixels too much
I think my current mouse has 26,000 dpi, and I do feel like I have issues aiming in fps games occasionally
Is it the Basilisk V3?
G502 hero
Nah that's 16k
It's 25.6k with the firmware update
I gave it to my wife because her mouse stopped working
Also, CPI/DPI is part of it, you also have sensitivity
Oh what update? Logi software never told me about an update
And you can set it to preference in software anyways
They basically pushed a firmware update to all 16k Hero mice that increases the limit to 25.6k
Then again, around 2k you already get more and more smoothening as you go up
So most max out around there
Seemingly
But yeah, it's not a huge deal
Mice introduce a lot of smoothening at that kind of CPI anyways
I'll never use that speed of course but it's nice to have the option
That's why for example Zowie limits their sensors so low
They limit their sensor to a max of 3200 cpi, while the same sensor is used in mice up to 24k cpi
And technically forms the base of the hero sensor
ehem, fifine k669b, xm8500, etc
looking more into mice, I did really want to get another corsair one so I only had ICUE at start up for it, my keyboard, casefans, and CPU cooler
nice having all that accessible from one program but Im thinking I have to bite the bullet and either get a different brand or a "hit or miss" mouse
Reason: Bad word usage
corsair makes bad peripherals
yeah, seeing that in general lol
but I got burned by razer so Im iffy about going back to them
as I said in that message that got deleted
there is a guide on how to determine mouse grip
if you can determine what your is, we can narrow down the picks
I need a quality mouse with driver software that doesnt try to run a whole nasa physics simulation on start up
it used to feel like razer and corsair were fighting over each other every time I turned on my computer in the past lol
whats your budget
"yes"
tbh Im willing to go a bit into crazy territory if its a mouse that can really survive
mm, would you consider your hand large, small, average size etc
average, if the corsair nightsword is considered for large hands
I was looking at it until I saw its size, yikes
so you want a baller wireless mouse?
oof
so true
logitech is pretty good about their software
Id rather wired
funny thing about wireless latency is that its better than wired at the top end
when you have a 100+ dollar wireless mouse, they try as hard as they can to decrease latency that they end up making it better than when the mouse is plugged in haha
plus, they come with internal rechargable batteries and can be used with a cable
Im just not keen on batteries for desktop peripherals
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/pro-x-superlight-wireless-mouse.910-005878.html
its not a battery you change, its internal
trust me, not having a cable is super awesome
my favorite ftip mouse that ive tried are the sl12, hati s ace and viper mini prob
but having the cable as an option is even better
another hang up I have is wanting to try a mouse with non mechanical clicker
kinda feels like the mechanical switches in keyboards are 1000 times more durable than the micro switches in mice yet could easily fit in some
so I want to make sure a mouse I get has optical based switches for left and right clicks
see how it fares against all the mice Ive had before... problem is nobody seemingly publishes if their mice has that but razer
razer is real good at praising itself so they definitely wont leave that out... but most web searches will
the only optical sensor all mice seem to care about is the one looking at the mousepad, not so much one as a click switch
yup
it kinda sucks, I mean I know its an optical mouse... why does that still need saying in 2022?
its like advertising your car dont run on coal and wood though
I think optic based click switches are a way better selling point but who has them and who doesnt... who knows!
even that mouse guide site doesnt factor that
so the only personal metric I can run with would be another razer mouse which always felt kind of like they wrote checks they can never cash
razer opticals are no where as good as reg switches imo
but the shape was really nice for ftip
grexta is up there but wireless
I might be willing to go back to wireless , depends on the dongle
but would need those features Sassy said before
optional wire for charging its integrated battery
most modern mice are on par with wired
which hopefully doesnt degrade after 3 years of recharging
maybe Im being too picky lol
Im just weary from my collection of 40-70$ plastic nunchucks
and how this corsair one will be joining it
most of the newer mice made are wireless
switch survivability and planned obsolescence are disgustingly intertwined which is why Im willing to shell out a lot for quality
I can cross off optical click switches if it really isnt much more endurable than mechanical
lotta mice good mice are using kailh 8.0s or a modified version of it
so double click isnt as big as an issue as it was 2 years ago or so
feels like I could use a mouse with a friggen PS/2 port and it would still work
if my computer even had one of those
hmmm
well that is good to know then as well
Need cheap keyboard and headset suggestions
How cheap?
a4tech non-gamer board and a moondrop chu
not necessarily a headset but imo iems wins for price:sound quality ratio if we're talking on the cheaper sub-$100 range
i do agree with that
earbuds offers the best price:sound quality ratio
for the cheap end of spectrum
What's your question?
What i have to buy for this
What do you mean? It's USB
Does it work well with usb
Haven't used it personally, couldn't say
Ok thx
Assuming you just want to drive it over usb... Nothing
If you want to do it over XLR it's a different story
i think usb is cheaper and easier
About a day and a half from China to the Midwest for me, DHL is great
Chinese logistics system op
you can get a xlr interface in the future if you want to slowly get into more pro grade gear but that mic works just fine with usb, the one issue ive seen someone have with usb on that is there might be static sounds if you touch the prongs on the xlr port so just don't touch it and you good
Yo K8 Pro
Tape mod?
Foam mod?
Also lmao do I see instant ramen in a bag in your table
BRUH ROMMY THE NEW NAME
ooo
new keycaps, how do they feel?
looks like slightly different shape than old keycaps
thicker maybe?
oh they swapped to pbt? thought it was doubleshot abs again
matte textured pbt, interesting, would usually associate abs with matte, my pbt keycaps have a bit more 'texture' to them
thx
is it common for a high quality headset to have a low quality mic?
they good nuff
unless its a pretty cheap headset
then theyll probably be pretty trash
it do be the stabs
wire what
theres stuff to install wires easier?
ah.... people normally use pliers
i used my hands
kept pressing on them until there wasnt anymore ticking
noise suppression and mute can be done through software
idk about any specific deals but you probably want a dynamic mic if you looking for isolation
Hey does anyone have a good recommendation for wireless headphones? Most of the ones my friends have are bluetooth and my pc doesn't have bluetooth.
You can get a Bluetooth USB thing for like $10
Which will allow you to use bluetooth
That's fair I was just wondering if there were decent headphone options that used a usb dongle if it's going to be about the same price as me buying a headset and a bluetooth dongle
wireless headphones are mostly meh, you definitely don't want to be using bluetooth if you are playing games or editing music, you want something with its own dedicated transmitter or dongle
That's fair, wireless headphones also just seem to be all over in price so it's hard to know what actually seems like good value
ye decent wireless headphones are going to be a lot more expensive, like ~300-500usd range probably
able to reference some?
those lowkey bad
whatttttt? how tho
3 of my friends have them and they told me how good quality they r
only con is the mic, but that’s every bluetooth headset 🤷♂️
buying the headset for the headset. not for the mic
able to link an affordable headset w decent quality? the one I have is at the end of its life lmao
RTX voice comes to mind, bunch of software like even discord has noise suppression options, mute button wise, lots of software out there for that
Hmmm, are there any programs that make audio quality better on discord? (i.e. use a decent mic and make your audio sound better)
Uh
Audio quality sound better?
We can't make things just higher res yet
Prob some experimental stuff somewhere but
Just get a decent mic imo
yeah ive seen stuff on youtube and tiktok where they use equalizers and stuff and it makes their mic sound more professional
You can tune how you sound, but when that raw input sucks, you can't really do that much to it
ohhhh okay
If you use a software like voicemeeter you can do some tuning. Some apps like obs also have filters. Maybe something you want for more pro sounding is a light eq, a compressor and mic technique
was it a maraca?
Why are you putting maracas in your keeb smh rommy
nice
eh, not a huge fan of them personally
rly? i thought they were one of the best headsets
in means of quality
I mean, it's not the absolute worst out there
Just don't really trust the build quality on them considering what happened with the hinges of many Arctis series headsets
what is bad about them
Frequency response on them is inconsistent
Oh?
Just saw. There has been many issues with them consistently
Then again, low latency wireless is pretty niche market as a whole
are those any good?
Are you specifically looking for low latency wireless headsets or?
quality quality audio and mic
I’m not great with this stuff
I'd grab a separate mic if you have the room for it with this kind of budget
and wired would actually bring in quite a few options
yeah, it's pretty decent
pretty much a cloud ii with in-line control
Oh ok, thx for the info
all good
and just in case
Ye optimally id get them but there 130 bucks here
The cloud x were 100 bucks originally but 50 on sale
the arctis seems to have a pretty good mic but our of the 3 people I know who have it, 2 of theirs broke
and IMO they aint confortable
There's also that wireless modmic
mmx 100 or 150 if u have the extra money
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b17sIyURWw0 this came out a few weeks ago check it out

this sucks
razer headsets are especially bad
Mine ended up breaking to the point it would just blair static every once in a while and its super heavy and get really hot
after 1 year of use
ok heres one that I actually watched, reviews are great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n61dsBlTW5c&t=1021s

they're the same thing
just with in-line controls
it was just to give an idea of the sound profile and alike
Steelseries already knows why
basically, the hinge was... fragile
and Razer has improved, but cloud x/ii outperforms it
Takstar pro 80 is quite nice
which is what HyperX based it off
should be pinging theo if its megumin theme
They asked in general earlier to see
thats kind of a cool color scheme
I think it pops well
But not obnoxiously
Looks very nice when you use the keyboard backlight setting that trails behind key presses
Make it orange
Sick. The colors are just as they should.. could work for harry Potter to lol
