Well
I say headset
I have a yeti
So I'm really just after a pair of headphones
then as i said, headphones
Ye
go and visit a shop with demo units
Eh
because it is close to impossible to know beforehand what you actually like
I dont have anything like that near me
imo it is worth travelling for
All I really need is something reliable
That's it
That has good sound
I dont need something insane
good sound for me, might sound too "flat" for you
sound is very much like taste. individual
I mean currently i am using apple earbuds
Which honestly arent bad
And they are 20 bucks
But I would like an actual pair
then travel and listen :)
Reason: Bad word usage
Hecc
I got warned
Well what I was going to say
I had a pair of coraair hs70s and they weren't bad however the charging cable was horrible and they weren't comfortable to wear after 2 hours or so
But I've heard good things about the arctis pros
imo, those are just cans on a string
a set of beyerdynamics
130 usd
Buy beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 ohm Headphones, Gray, (459038): Over-Ear Headphones - Amazon.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases
mind, they are neutral in soundprofile (to my ears)
and they are open
and i would recommend that you get the 80ohm IF you think you want them
Yeah but are they usb
heck no
headphones, actual headphones are not usb
nothing.
you have a soundcard already
start there.
you will be surprised what a decent set of headphones can do
Reason: Bad word usage
but again, it is impossible to say IF the DT 990's are comfortable for you.
Do mobos have those built in or something?
yes
the advantage of something like the above headphones is the ability to use them with anything that has a mini-jack plug
(IF you get the 80 ohm version that is)
mini jack is the actual name for the 3.5 ones
Ah
"jack" is the name of the bigger variant :)
yes
Better audio yes?
and in general, usb headsets come with their own (crappy) soundcard built-in
re: better audio: i would say yes
i listen to a lot of music and it happens that i play games
dont have that much time for games anymore
Does it sound good for games though
in my opinion, for my tastes. yes.
What I want is the ability to pick out individual sounds
that is certainly possible for me
And if something is behind me or to the left/right of me
I can easily tell that that thing is behind or left/right of me
Personally I've found surround sound useless
And that stero sounds better and does almost the same thing
as i said in the start. Travel and listen
it might sound silly, but it answers so many questions that you might have
Well now you have me looking at beyerdynamics
I'm just asking because you have them
aye aye
and i am trying to give you the answer that, in the long run, will make you the happiest
simple answer is: studio work = 250ohm version
depending on what device you are trying to use them with, the 250ohm ones can drain a battery very quickly
I don't do any of that studio stuff
and you most likely prefer a bit more "omph!"
so the 80ohm is for you
Ok
have a look at the 770 model
Also sennheiser. I've heard good things about those too
i personally dislike their sound profile
Ah
Dang. The 770 are closed back. Problem with that is that I wouldn't be able to hear mommy say the hotpockets are done
Jokes aside, they look nice. Same price too as the 990
my ex dislikes my 990's but adores her 770's
she also LOVES a heavy "punch" to her sound
my ears feel like they are burning after using the 770's for 10-15 minutes
But I play a lot of realistic shooters
on the other hand, i can use the 990's for 6 hours without a problem
And I want something that is good for something like gunshots ,explosions and footsteps
So I'm assuming the so called "punch" would be good for the gunshots and stuff
aye
or something like a really sharp punchy guitar or bass
I'm interested...
but you have (imo) a more natural sound in the 990's
I mean
The thing you describe as punchy sounds like it would be great for my stuff
it could be :)
So now the 770s have 32 ohm aswell
80ohm or above imo
Punchy-er?
however, you are potentially missing a bit of detail (but keep in mind, that is with my gear and my ears)
it might not be something you will ever notice
So now. I dont need any accessories for what I'm looking for.
Just straight into a 3.5mm on my mobo
on the topic of "punch"
you know the "another brick in the wall" cover that Korn did years ago?
No
you know the song right?
I did say I listened to rock
But that's an overstatement
I'll listen to it sometimes but not often
I dont really know many of the song names
https://youtu.be/Aam9dzIiMdk?t=87 <- have a listen from that point forward. you will know the punch when it comes

the bass especially is silly nice on a proper set of headphones

There, that's their most recent song
Not sure when it turns to chaos but I love it
1:36
i can see why you think it is punchy and yes it has some punch
however
do you know who Mick Gordon is?
Nope
you played the remake of DOOM?
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
I just got kicked..
chill with the swearing pls
I hate this no swearing thing. I think I might have a problem
mee6 hates it lol
and what you linked sounds a LOT like him
I know
I dont think about it though
Theres so many discord where I just say whatever with my friends
You gotta really think about it
Because the next bad word is a 1 day ban
And the next is supposedly a perm ban
I had the 1 day ban already
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm932Sqwf5E&t=1988s <- here is what it specifically reminds me of

nah, just tight tight rock
Never played it
I've listened to I think only 1 song from the soundtrack

IF you are interesting in hearing him talk about "how" he arrived at the sound he did.

If that makes sense
then that video is HIGHLY recommended.
aye aye, that makes perfect sense
i dont go around with that blasting in my ears all the time either
nope
If you watch a few videos about EFT (Escape From Tarkov) which is the main game i play, you will notice how important it is to listen to those slight sounds
I'm just looking for something that will be good for that
Those beyerdynamic headphones are looking pretty nice to grab
Might just be what I go for
i just bought a new ThermalTake View 37 ARGB and got everything plugged in but for some reason my fans spin but no LED, i tried everything i could think of, my mobo is in par of supported devices but nothing is working, i have a B450 Aorus M, the case comes with a RGB Switchboard that has all the fans connected to it and has a RGb switch aswell that leads to the front panel, ive pressed and held the button with no change, the thing is plugged in via SATA power and the fans spin, it has a LED out and a M/B IN slot and neither do anything i need assistance please
Corsair fans?
thermal take
wdym?
I know coraair has their own thing
the tt RGB plus software i have says it cant find any fans
You plug a cable separate from the fan cable into a little hub for rgb stuff
So each fan has 2 cables
Hm
the switch board then has power (SATA power) and a RGB header which i plugged into my pc but nothing
ive emailed TT and asked but havent gotten anything yet
Tech support is great isnt it
the fans spin and all so the controller isnt dead i know that
i mean i cant plame them i got the case 8 hours ago and put the email in like 3
its a super beautiful case and all too but just mising my rgb
I've never gotten a tech support response in more than 3 hourds
Hours*
Except from a russian company that made a game I played
Which was understandable
ive looked online but found nothing more then dead threads that say "I fixed it" but never explain how
except one who said they sent him a new controller and it was fixed
Hm
im usually good with builds but this has me confused af
If the fans come pre installed
Then they should just be plugged in already and work
be it my luck that its always a tiny thing that keeps me form one shotting the build
yea pre installed
So that's TTs fault
they were, all it needed is plug into mobo which i did but nothing
What mobo?
b450 aorus m
I'm just trying to get a reference for what you are working with
So you just plugged the fans into a little 4 pin fan slot?
Should work then if there is only 1 cable
no, the fans run via sata power from switch board, rgb comes from rgb header which is a 3 pin in a 4 pin space (a small gap between two pins) which i plugged in with no results
Ah
the switchboard runs the fans via sata power
the rgb comes from mobo but when plugged in nothing happens
How my fans work is there is the 2 cables 1 goes into the mobo 4 pin and another goes into a little hub. That is then powered by a sata cable
(Corsair spec omega)
Yeah
So if that is all pre assembled
It should just work if you only have to plug in the fan to the mobo
I would wait for tech support
this is the switch board
Hm
the one with yellow highlight is my connector
idk ill wait for tt to email back, until the no RGB

yea hahaha
its such a nice case too
very large
the curved "View" panel makes it great too
Isnt that plastic though?
Or some form of plastic
I've heard stories of that panel getting scratched constantly
Without people even trying to
@distant galleon So I figured out what the issue is and I’m gonna go in for a refund tomorrow morning
Took the board off the pc case and found a nice burnt out micro chip
Lmao
Hi do you recommend hyper x cloud 2.0
I heard a lot of good things about that headset

I need help with choosing my wireless mouse
I'm not too worried about sensor or weight but I don't want something that is bright green
Astetics, battery life, and cost are my main concerns is I'd like to keep it below $25
Any help?
Ok ok, $25? I personally think that is way too low
for wireless
It is refurbished but Idek anything that wont break in 20 mins that is $25 but I'll keep searching
Redragon M652 Optical 2.4G Wireless Mouse with USB Receiver, Portable Gaming & Office Mice, 5 Adjustable DPI Levels, 6 Buttons for Desktop, MacBook, Notebook, PC, Laptop, Computer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D837ZLT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_k8bcEbESTBA1N
@calm cobalt
If you care to spend a bit more money on a reputable brand g305 wireless is a good buy
I thought red dragon wasn't very reputable for mice
They have gotten muchhhh better over the years, still cheaply manufactured stuff tho
Ahh I see, Because I remember red dragon stuff literally just breaking if you push on it too hard lmao
Yeah, they actually have some membrame keyboars now that are pretty darn good
Also Like I want to recommend a g502, but it's wired and it's $5 over the budget
And huh, I'ma have to check them out again
Honeslty your best bet is used
True
Hardware swap on reddit, ebay or facebook martketplace, letgo
Thank you for responding! I love this app, if I posted that question on Reddit I would have gotten 0 replies and -2 likes
F
Reddits pc community is a gonat circle jerk
Also do you mind if I ask why does it have to be wireless?
I understand the whole wireless thing, i hate wired mouse, the give me anxiety there gonna catch something when i flick and nock it off my desk
Thats why I recommend a bungie
Buy a bungie once, then get cheaper mice forever
I have to sections to my setup, one half is for productivity and the other is for simulation racing, I already have so many wires running to my pc any more would be rediculous
Ah I understand, But is this mouse for fps? Or just to open games and stuff?
Me toooo, all my flight sim stuff lol
Just to open game's and use menus
Then that red ragon will work fine
Oh, get a cheapie one
Yes
I'm considering a Logitech k400 plus
(it's a shortened amazon link)
It's a keyboard with a moose pad built in
Very expensive though, I would just say get the amazon basic wireless keyboards and mice, they are very cheap
and they last a good while
This looks good to
I'd never have to worry about it charging so I might spend the extra $10
I mean it's on a good deal too
so I guess if its what you wan't for sure man
Thanks for the help!
Can you repair oled burn in on a phone like you do on a tv?
@acoustic pebble you dodged a bullet by getting the Kaihua switches, those are even better than cherry despite being cheaper and probably chosen for that reason
@rough valve i'm not sure, try searching google play for an app
@north nimbus kailh switches? I thought they were exactly the same but with cheaper plastic?
no the weight is different as well as some of the mechanism
https://kono.store/collections/switches/products/hako-true-switches-10-ct they also have a novel "box" stem design that keeps keys more straight and less jiggly on the keyboard which is slowly rolling out to all their switches but has been tried so far on just a few, like this one
keyboard nerds generally approve
i've seen red ones with the box design
Well but cherry has box switches too I thought?
no
cherry's tooling dates back to the 70s and 80s
they've been making MX switches since then
Alright
Good to know
But doesn't that just mean more variety not necessarily better?
A lot of people see Cherry as the best of the best when it comes to switches, but a lot of the time that just isn't true tbh
well the Kaihua switches have some advantages, primarily in that box design
and also in that the tooling isn't super old
Cherry browns are also the least tactile tactile switch pretty much across the board
yeah i saw a kaihua box brown for sale on that same website
I have otemus and honestly to me it's all the same
which is something i might be interested in, i want a tactile switch but not heavy
outemus are really good
my keyboard allows switches to be hot swapped
it's just some cheap chinese thing
i got red switches for the GAMER potential
and i don't like typing on them, they feel cheap
switches that are base colors are almost all the same between the clones and cherry themselves
the part that really changes typing feel is the case, plate, stabs, and everything else
yup, if you ever wanna know what the difference is a good place to start is looking at a force curve chart of the switch
and reviews obviously
yeah, reviews would be helpful
Idk I just got an otemu brown magiforce and some o-rings for the noise,
I've been on dome switches since I remember so anything is an upgrade
the feel and sound profile of switches is a fairly individual thing.
some like cherry, others kailh, others again gateron
etc
re: reviews: Yes, they help. however, you (as the reader) need to pay attention to the style of typing that the reviewer uses.
stomping elephant vs hummingbird
yeah i was reading some feedback on the earliest of the box switches (being sold as a discount) and it says they screw up your keycaps, and one of them doesn't even have any tactility as is marketed, so i'm glad there was at least that - even people who liked it remarked on the low tactility
Hey, does anyone have suggestions for a gaming keyboard in the $150-200 price range? Feel free to ping me.
@glacial dawn razer huntsman elite
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CJVLL1K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share This is t working with windows 10. Any ideas? Can’t get drivers for it to work...
@glacial dawn g513 is a bit cheaper than ur range but mine is a dream to use
Super bright rgb, USB pass through, romer g switches Logitech g hub, and the amazing construction
@visual basalt do u mean u can't find the drivers or is there a problem with them?
Also I'd recommend putting this in is and software so someone more experienced could help u if it's an issue with that
I'm kinda a noob
Thanks! I put the card in and tried using the disk to get the drivers. It hasn’t been able to identify the ports since I put it in.
I’ll go to software
Anyone have any opinions for a keyboard in the $100 to $200 CAD range with Cherry MX Brown switches? Looking for something 104key. I don't care about RGB. I just want something decent quality that doesn't look like garbage.
Or cheap replacement keycaps that also don't look like crap so I can get the HyperX Alloy FPS and change the caps.
Hm, thought none of the Corsairs had browns.
These are some products I found, they seem alright to my eyes but maybe you should do a little more research
Yeah, I just found out too!
OK, thanks for the suggestions.
Yep, no worries.
I'd go for Ducky, well known for actually being good rather than just popular like Corsair and Asus
Yeah I'm considering it.
Was looking at the WASDv3 keyboards, but by the time you convert their prices to CAD, and they want like $60 USD shipping up here, it's not worth it anymore
Oh man, there's a Ducky One 2 with no LEDs.
Hm... Follow up question... How well would mouse + Keyboard work through a USB hub? What about a headset?
Maybe there could be a slight delay, but nothing drastic. I would say it also depends on what USB hub you use.
I need some help\advice
I am looking for a mechanical keyboard with blue switches, customizable RGB, 87 keys (ten key less), and if possible, compatible with pudding keycaps. Any ideas?
It also has to be wired
Just got my CoolerMaster mm711 mouse and I absolutely love it. I'd recommend it!
@keen cosmos get a leopold
@random plover I can't find an FC900R with MX Browns anywhere, let alone one that's all black.
@karmic bramble What Budget ?
Yup, finalized on the Ducky One 2 no LED model.
@mighty egret around $100-$120
Found these, all have customizable RGB, and they are TKL not sure if they are compatible with your key caps though. @karmic bramble
as long as the keycaps have MX style connections it'll be fine
its a good thing to keep around to snack on while gaming
Looking good
RGB toaster why not
@wet lagoon What type of mouse do you need ? Gaming ? Other things ? Side buttons ? DPI ? Software ? RGB ? Sensor ?
Size ?
I know that’s a bunch of questions but there are so much options nowadays (to choose from)
Do monitors come with displayport cables usually?
Mine did, but it was quite short, probably 1m
1m is pretty short!
My pc is gonna be on my desk next to monitor
A logitech g203 is pretty good you can get it for like 35 bucks new
i got a g502 se and i like it a lot. i got mine for 20bucks at best buy
Also have the G502 and enjoy it
To be honest they are both great and they last a long time
Or some of the fnactic ones but they are a bit pricey
I have a question about Bluetooth functionality on a desktop; I know next to nothing about this so have several really basic questions. Is this the right forum for this? I'm new here 😕 .
You can ask here
The Newegg help desk directed me here. This is the question they couldn't (didn't feel comfortable with, maybe) address: I want to add Bluetooth functionality to my desktop. I want to switch to wireless headphones and speakers. I'm in a 1br apartment, so trying to cut down on wires. I noticed in checking Newegg that I can add a device to a USB port or install a card to enable the Bluetooth. Which is better? Will a single Bluetooth transmitter/receiver handle both headphones and speaker? Will the signal go through an interior wall (total distance maybe 10 feet)?
Wireless headphones should come with a BT adapter
Same with the speakers. hard to say about the wall, it will depend on the BT version the headphones and speakers use
And what the wall is made out of. Regular house walls with drywall should be fine. Older house with lathe and plaster maybe not
So each adapter is specific to the device, similar to wireless mouse/keyboard setups?
the simple test for bluetooth is testing it with your phone @full grotto
it will give you a rough idea IF you walls are filled with something that interferes with BT
Thanks @amber oracle
hopefully you know someone with a bluetooth headset that you can test with
because (i believe) we would love to give you a certain answer. but buildings being what they are.... sadly that is not possible. Hence testing is recommended (if possible ofc)
I'll ask around. Actually, the headphones (used in same room as computer, as that is my "TV" as well) are most important at this point. That should be no problem. So order those first, then try with phone in bedroom and see if they work? Or just see if the headphones work in the BR. If so, then speakers in there should work as well? As long as I'm asking, would the headphones also work with my iPhone, as well as with the computer? Just I don't have to buy to sets of headphones. Told you I didn't know anything about this technology; but I can learn 😉 .
generally pure BT headsets work with phones
sorry, Headphones.
what you can (fairly easily) test is (if you can borrow a headset from someone) if things work as you think they will
I'll check with my adult kids (I tend to be old school, but trying to catch up) to see if they have anything. Otherwise, I'm afraid that most of my friends may be like me. But I can ask around.
the main challenge for BT is distance (when walls are involved)
so that is what you want to test IF possible.
Got it; thanks again @amber oracle . This has been really helpful.
you are very welcome, best of luck with it @full grotto, do keep us posted about how it goes :)
helps us learn too :)
Will do.
Thank you
Best second monitor??
depends
you gonna put them side by side and extend the display or you gonna do something related to programming? maybe just a second monitor to have a second monitor lol
side by side extending the display i would recommend the same make and model of what you currently have to mitigate the differences in color reproduction, refresh rates and all those other factors as much as possible
for programming/coding i would recommend one that can display vertically (a 9:16 instead of 16:9 type of thing)
for just a second monitor for whatever like having discord up on one and gaming on the other it really doesnt matter much
i would try to match the resolutions tho. not a necessity but i find having 2 different resolutions between monitors gives me a headache lol
https://www.newegg.com/p/0ZK-025X-00001 i recommend this mouse because it's absurdly cheap and i've been using them for years (one of them got stepped on by someone who weighed quite a bit and fell apart, i have the current one now)
they feel good to use, have a button to adjust sensitivity, and are incredibly responsive
rip
it was a 13 dollar mouse
despite being a good one
you have to deal with it not having RGB too
it's just R
personally, i want a trackball but they're expensive!
in the nearly $40 range for low end
$80 range for high end
i've been looking at sanwa and logitech
probably go with sanwa as they make lovely clicky buttons for arcade games/sticks and probably trackballs too for those heavy use cases
Redragon products are always fantastic
Unfortunately my mouse has died of years of abuse (Still works just if I hold down right click for a long time, maybe once per 30 seconds on average itll quickly unclick and reclick and gets annoying af in games when you miss one in 5 aims because it unzooms)
Redragon Perdition.
Fantastic mouse. Replacing it with a motospeed V18 though, I strongly desire a built in sniper button, for games that don't like macro software to do the same on a thumb button.
grab a piece of thin cardboard spray some WD40 on it and rub it under both mouse clicks because when things like that happens if losses its lubricant i know cause my old mouse the left click would die out and when i would do that it would work again
Its a problem internal in the switch itself.
Well you should try first before dismissing it
WD-40 is mostly volatile non-polar solvent - idk if that'd be the first thing I spray up into a mouse lol.
That said - I've replaced deathadder switches with aftermarket Omron's after they started double-clicking, felt nicer too I guess, but the mouse nerds really love them - I've heard.
A good rinse of 95% isopropanol will probably do the trick.
I didn't have to replace any switches all i did was lubricate my old mice and they work like i just got them new
Idk what mouse you have - but I haven't seen many with lubricant on the contact switches haha.
Mainly cooler master mice
I did actually try some WD40 at the time. It degrades plastic but I know from rubik's cubes for the bants, it doesn't really do all too much if its thoroughly worked in.
There still is no solution to its problem. The switch is basically dead and its only really worth just buying a new mouse.
Well when I say dead, I mean ever so slightly glitchy. Which is dead in my eyes.
Also when i mentioned cardboard i mean like the type from a cigarette pack which it is pretty thin and easy to pass under without taking apart the mouse
What's the difference between Cherry, Gateron, and Kailh switches?
Cherry was the company with the original patent on the switch design, it ran out and those companies compied it with their own switches and variants
Cherry I recognize, cause their name is mentioned a lot in keyboard reviews.
Is there any meaningful difference between the different switches?
Not really
cherry aren't really the smoothest rn minus their vintage and retooled black's
gaterons are 99 out of 100 a better pick imo
Agree, but don't make my mistake of putting gaterons or zealios in a cheap frame, no good
What keyboard?
depends on budget
No I was asking him what keyboard he put the switches into
Gateron reds in a qisan magicforce pre-built off amazon for $60 or something
Was going to do the same with otemu browns in a cheapo build, glad I changed plans
What's a good frame for a keyboard?
Depends on the budget
I was looking at this.
Switches are hot swappable, and you can just get the bare board.
gmmk is a pretty good board with 3 sizes, if you want a higher quality hotswap board and awe willing to pay more look at something from drop
Can someone help me get MSI light sync and its retarded ass to properly sync with my fans?
yeah gmmk is decent but don’t flip it over or the switches will fall out or something
Lol I doubt they're that loose
Wasnt that a first run problem or something that they fixed right away
Is it hard getting used to a 60% keyboard? My old razer full size one is on its last legs and I want to replace it. I'm between a tkl and a 60%. I mostly code in C++ and JS and game some.
idk that’s why I built a 65
it’s got arrows and basically 4 keys to do whatever with or layers with
You might wanna go tkl if you use some of the functionality keys that are taken away in 60%
Or you could go for something less common like a 75% or 80% as they usually have the same keys in a smaller layout
@atomic crow you should probably get an rgb control board and then use that to sync them
If your into big rgb stuff that’s the way to go you can’t get two different companies to run in sync with two different rgb controllers
Because they have different patterns and different ways they work
Probably just go TKL. I'm not the only one in the house that will use that computer. My wife would probably curse me for having something she couldn't easily use the "delete" and arrow keys without using the "FN " button.
LOL
Happy wife, happy life.
Im looking for a gaming mouse under 50. I dont want it too light but in between
can anyone suggest anything?
I currently have the logitech g600 its good for mmos but I need soemthing for fps
@dense river the g502 is good
Nice clicks good dpi and looks good and it feels nice with a good cable
@candid elk mind sending me a link
@candid elk thank you
Is there any 3rd party brand keyboards that have MSI mystic light capabilities
Lol
Not sure if I should keep it anyway.
Ask them what to do they will probley just send you the right one and let you keep that one
That happens to me with my graphics card and they just sennt the right one and let me keep the other one
Hm. Alright
For a graphics card that's a pretty big one
This was with amazon, btw.
Yeah all you have to do is call their product suprot and tell them what happen and they'll look up you purchase and send it too you
And yes they do lose some big money from that but what are they going to do with that "used" they have no use for it
Oof for me. Got a k95 used and it got that nice defective stuck/dead LEDs. Tis was FB market place and we agreed for return. Tho currently contacting Corsair as well to see if warranty is still in place (seller doesn't remember).
Is WiFi usually better using a WiFi from motherboard or Ethernet cable (LAN) ?
EThernet is always faster
Yep, that’s what I thought. Ty!
YW
That said, good WiFi can be faster than your internet connection if it's set up right. Only thing that matters then is network speed for PC to PC transfers at home
You guys know what this port is?
Looks like one of those mini/micro HDMIs
Or mini/micro displayport
I am probably the person most confused by mini/micro and forget which is which
I assume thats a mini display port. Not a clear picture though
mini displayport is what it looks like
@umbral garnet just look in your manual next time, there is an overview of what the different ports are
I believe that's a mini display port.
It does look most similar to mini displayport
I don't have the manual it's somebody else's laptop
And I wanted to know the answer more rapidly and discord is faster than finding the laptop model and downloading a low quality scan of an old manual lol
my wireless is over gigabit so i'm fine with it
Anyone have the ATH-AD700x?
I am building budget pc that can play Apex/dota2/csgo/pubg and my gpu is rx560, any can suggest me what budget processor can handle it?
I am thinking that x3440 still working on it, but I don't overclock cause temperature here is hot.
@stiff thunder ask that question in the #building-and-recc-chat
Is this chocotacos discord?
Nope
Hey, I kinda need help with something. So, everyone is saying my mic is shit, so I checked "listen to this device" and then after 2 seconds, my PC crashed. Anyonne knnow a fix without me havinng to go out and buy a new headset (for now anyways, annd if u see 2 n's then it's because my Logitech G213 is acting up, gonnna send it back and replace it)
does anyone know of a cherry red or cherry brown keybords or romer g tacttile or romer g silet
for 100 to 125
https://www.newegg.com/black-homall-t-ocrc0082-chair/p/358-003X-00001 can anyone tell me if this or similar chairs (under $100 USD) are any good
@dense river
Just got it yesterday
I only bought it because I'm used to heavy thick boys. If you are used to lighter mice then this is a no no. While it's great for its price the G502 is much heavier and your wrist might end up suffering
Also anyone knows of a good desk under 100USD? I was tempted to go on Ikea and getting a simple long piece of wood but I'm curious if anyone knows of any other desk I could buy
I've had my g502 for like a month now and I'm loving it
@warm plaza i've heard Homall are pretty good
you should contact Ducky's customer service
there's not an easy fix for that, it's a complicated soldering job
g pro wireless
yeah unless you know how to solder and the pins i would just rma it
Logitech G610 Orion ($60) or Razer Huntsman($100)
Logitech, razers software is oof if ya need to program any button or such.
I personally get anything with romer g's as I've heard that they feel really mushy (closer to memchanical) from quite a few reviews
But switches are very much up to personal preference
@spark thistle do be aware that any keyboard with Romer G switches are stuck with the keycaps that they come with. Because the stems are incompatible with cherry switch compatible keycaps
None of the 2 have romers though
was for your information, in case you followed up on what Puddles said above
Oh ok
its a "detail" that a lot of people "conveniently" forget to mention when they talk about Romer G :)
So would you recommend the Orion or Huntsman?
how much do you value keycaps?
because yes, the huntsman is "technically" using a cherry mx stem
but it has a bunch of "stuff" surrounding it that is going to make things "interesting"
from a comparison article: "Razer being first, the stem is identical to the Cherry MX switches, so technically, all keycaps should fit perfectly fine without any issues. However, since Razer has a non-standard layout for the bottom keycaps, you will be left with using the original keycaps on the bottom row. That, plus the fact that since the keyboard is relatively new, and the switches, as of now, are proprietary, it is going to take some time for 3rd party manufacturers to come up with good replacement keycaps."
So, I have a Reddragon k552, I like the feeling of the keys, which are supposed to be Cherry MX blue equivalents, but the sound of the keys are a bit loud. What Cherry MX key would be the equivalent of blue except quieter?
the sound is a combination of the chassis and the switches (that is the simple and short answer)
So I'm asking for if I was to upgrade and change keyboard, what should I look for? I understand I can't change the keycap and reduce the noise, but I would like to know the options.
mind, i have only had very very limited hands on with reddragon boards, but the impression they left was cheap-as-can-be
Yea, it was basically the cheapest keyboard I can find xD
I would have a much bigger budget next time
with that in mind, just getting out of that "part" of the market will help
I wanted to narrow the question down a lil instead of like "what is best keyboard"
i have a old razor blackwidow on a shelf somwhere that could easily be used to hammer nails in with
it is stupidly heavy
which in this specific chassis translates into less "echo" from the switches
so even thou it is using mx blue, it is fairly silent (for a blue board)
So if I switch keys to a dif one that can be more silent, which key?
re: what is best keyboard: that is not something i could ever answer. that is 100% personal preference.
I dont quite understand if all cherry keys feel the same, or they have a few that feel the same, and a few that feels different
if we stick to the regular variants that are fairly easily available in boards.
then we have the red/black/blue/brown (and depending on market, there is white/green)
Alright
So I should be looking for like MX Browns?
that removes the "click" part of it
Since thats a bump, soft, and listed as one of the common ones
aye, brown are all over
I like the feeling, not the sound
then brown
Alright, thanks
keep in mind, it is slightly "less" heavy to type on
5cN shouldn't be that big of a difference so I believe it'll be fine
just saying it ahead of time
Looking like theres also a decrease in pre-travel
aye
So I've got a question, I'm looking into headsets between $80-$130 and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on good choices. I have the logitech g pro x with blue voice capability on my mind, but I'd appreciate other ideas
I’d go for gateron browns
Mx browns aren’t really good, people call them “dirty reds” cause the tactile bump is tiny and feels more like a scratchy switch than a bumb
huh
I just want a bump and not a loud af keyboard
like my keys are louder than my fans at max
what size keyboard and what budget?
Full keyboard, any budget as long as it's not ridiculous, I guess up to 200$?
@tight pulsar there is very little difference between the gateron browns and the mx browns (when both are new)
yeah, but gats are a little bit smoother and usually cheaper so it’s usually better to get them
some users "feel" they are smoother
i would personally lean towards their variance being higher
I just want the click of MX Blues and not the sound
if there are quieter mx blues I can go for those too
I recommend ordering a sample kit of switches for $10 or so off ebay, other
or going to a local shop
Keyboards are some of the most preference weighted components imo.
That ^ - if you're fortunate to have a local shop with a nice selection.
I think microcenter used to have those sampler switch keyboards.
Ha local shop theres prob nothing within a 100 mile distance of me
If you look at the force curve of switches and typing sound test of them on different videos you can get an idea of what they'll feel and sound like
not unless you have a good understanding of how the force curve translates to how YOU feel
and the sound etc (as mentioned) depends on a combination of chassis and switch
That's why I said look at different videos, and the force curve shows you EXACTLY how the switch feels as it's an exact graph of the force of a switch as you push down
If his keyboard is loud he could try lubing stabs and band aid mod and sound dampening foam which will most likely make it quiter
the force curve is useless IF you dont understand how it relates to you.
@warm raven hypercloudX 2 or the Fnatic React headset
Idk what you mean by relates to you...if you look at the force curve of the switch you're currently using and compare it to another you can get a good idea of what it would feel like
i mean it’s kinda hard to not know what the force curve shows if it’s labeled
also hella clean
now what would you say is the best wireless headset?
I hear the Steelseries Arctis 7 or Pro are pretty good
not the g933 due to a terrible microphone
@daring zenith I just got a keyboard with MX Browns
Just a note of caution: Still makes noise if you bottom them out.
any switch will unless its a silent
Yea I dont care bout being silent, I just dont want the clicking to be loud enough to be heard while I have headphones on
G933 is OK. I haven't had any issues with the microphone, but the software sucks sometimes. Like the beeping when it's turning on is fuckin' annoying.
It'll do like three different beeps over ten or fifteen seconds, meanwhile I know it's on after the first one and am already listening to something, so it just beeps over my sound twice more.
i was watching the youtube channel hardwarecanucks, and he madea video about the Philips SHP9500 headphones paired with the V-MODA BoomPro mic, and I gotta say that mic sounds so much better than any gaming headset mic
I'm looking to switch the Philips headphones for another pair though. Does anyone know of a good quality pair of headphones or a headset that has a detachable cable?
Can someone help me. how would I make my optiplex 3010 miracst ready? just a wifi card? if so how do I know what wifi card I need to put in my optiplex 3010?
@warm raven you got any decent music gear shops near you?
because the sound profile of some of these might not agree with your ears
if you just want a comfortable set of headphones, beyerdynamics 770/880/990 are solid choices
they, especially the 990's have a neutral sound, which i personally quite enjoy
however, there is no detachable cable on those.
AKG on the other hand does make a bunch of headphones that come with detachable cables
well im looking to either find a solid headset for gaming or find a good set of headphones that i can replace the mic or cable with the V-MODA boompro mic
and im also kind of on a budget haha, i cant spend over 100

have a look here, bunch of people that have too many headphones :)
ooh okay. thanks! i'll check it out
just dont blame me if your budget starts to feel cramped :)
btw, the music gear shop question was so you could go and try on the different headphones
because what fits me, might be horrible for you
yeah i have no idea of any near me
shame, perhaps have a bit of a lurk in general on the head-fi forums, they are a friendly bunch
they might know of things that are relevant for you
in terms of sound quality and exccluding the mic, would the cooler master mh-751 or fnatic react be better?
neither are worth the plastic they come packaged in (imo)
mind, i am 100% the wrong person to talk with if we are talking game headsets, because i am yet to hear a single one that is just decent
do you know of a pair of headphones that are under 100 that would be solid?
also what do you mean by the plastic they come packaged in?
the headphones are not worth the material they come packaged in <- is what i mean
why does the material packaging matteR?
that is a possibility
what i was trying to say in a semi-snarky way was that i dont value the gaming headsets at all.
so these have a detachable cable... so i could attach the V-MODA mic to these and it'll work?
no
why not?
the v-moda is not universially compatible like that (at least that is how it looks on their site)
HEADPHONE COMPATIBILITY:
V-MODA Crossfade M-100 Master, Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition, Crossfade 2 Wireless, Crossfade Wireless and the rest of the Crossfade series (M-100, LP, LP2, XS,
M-80, V-80)
Most headphones with a 3.5mm input port including Beats Solo,Studio, Mixr, Skullcandy Aviator, Hesh 2, Monster Inspiration, DNA
from their site
what the AKG uses is their own design (well, its a mini-xlr iirc)
Now the mic is a couple years old so they might not have updated the specifications of the mic to label each compatible headset
the AKG are headphones, so things like mics is something that is seperate from their POV
something like the antlion modmic would however work
mind, i cannot vouch for the quality of the antlion modmic.
i have never used it myself
and on that note, i am out for the night.
does anyone have a razer viper mouse and use palm grip i wanna know if it ok to us plam grip
I have viper
I actually found that after using it for some time I no longer use palm grip
I adjusted to use my fingertips on the mouse which was fine for me, guess it was because the mouse is a bit smaller than what I am used to @calm cobalt
oh really
did you guys @warm raven @amber oracle consider the Philips SHP9500? I have a lot of friends that really like the headset, and many audiophiles consider it very good for the price.
no, theres a difference
some headsets are better for music, and some are better for plugging into a pc to game with
these are music headphones
i have a 200 dollar pair of sennheiser headphones
theyre not that great for siege
the noise cancelling mic always gives me problems when siege tries to use it
@ripe frost so i originally considred that headset, paired with the V-MODA boompro mic for gaming, but the headset is open back and I much rather prefer closed-back
and yes like sassyfish mentioned, it's not exactly for gaming
alright then, I personally prefer open-back, so I kinda forgot that some people dont like it. mb
hey any recommendations on mouse brands except Logitech cause my G502 hero is double clicking and i cant do anything in games anymore, have to get a new one
you guys think the G502 is bulky?
What do yall think of the Corsair K70 LUX Cherry MX Brown keyboard?
It's a heavier mouse but weight is really up to preference @west hornet
its a little wider than the g703 but I wouldnt call it bulky
kk just asking for a friend
@west hornet it just doesnt taper in as much as modern mouses do on the sides
yeah not sure what they were considering for mice
Is there a difference beside the shape between the new deathadder v2 and the razer viper?
i just cleaned my keyboard out for the first time in forever and it feels so nice to type on now
Razer kraken x or kraken tournanent edition
never used either, but one of my friends loves his tournament edition
For the same price would you buy Razer Kraken tournament edition or the hyper x cloud 2?
lmao
@calm cobalt o what case is that?
@tight pulsar
thanks
Same kb here,I'm liking mine so far
nice what switches
the optical blacks, they're a little heavy but I type pretty hard so it works...I'm thinking of ordering some of the reds or browns to try em out
nice i have mine in browns
Gaming I suppose ? Logitech G604 Lightspeed has Bluetooth If I’m not mistaken
Hey guys i need your help, my razer ornata chroma suddenly the f key r key and 4 key stopped working all together. I tried reinstall drivers, reinstalled synapse 3 and restarted my pc. Is there a possible solution or it is broken?
have you tried cleaning the keyboard 🤔
my s key used to press 2 times for some reason and cleaning it fixed it
by that i mean like taking the keys off and cleaning under them
some just suggest compressed air and a microfiber cloth tho
I wanted to know what are some of you guy's take on 60% keyboard
I currently have a Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard
With Brown switches. But most of the people I know that enjoy playing games on PC always tell me 60% is better
Can anyone explain any key differences as to why switching to a 60% keyboard is better or is it purely based of preference and space in your mouse pad etc.
F row, Arrows, Num pad / more space occupied are the only "features" I see that a full sized keyboard can have
I think that’s about it, the biggest difference is the size though
(Between 60% and full sized in general)
Maybe there could be more specific differences between two exact 60% and Full sized kBs
its smaller, and you dont really need all the extra keys taking up space
i use a 65% which has arrows and a few extra keys, everything i need with like 2 layers (like this)
My favorite part of having a 60% now is purely the amount of desk space I have (even on a small desk)
When I used a full size I didnt have enough room to fully move my mouse at the sensitivity I use and kept hitting my keyboard
I want a 65% keyboard for travel soon, as my current 8 pound mammoth keyboard isn't very mobile. But 60% just doesnt cut it because I need my home, end ,page up and down keys, and arrow keys lmao
And of course insert and delete
That's where fn comes in lol
I barely use those keys though so it didnt change much
I have a full size because I'm used to using those keys on the right side for when I'm doing CAD. Adjusting measurements and stuff
But I think I'll buy a 60% plug in all my switches for a week and see how I adapt to it
Any $40-75 recommendations?
I'm using the gk61 but it only works with optical switches
and I found mine for $30
Okey
ok so what do i do if logitech g hub doesnt let me do macros
The Rakk Lam-Ang Pro in its fullest glory. T1 switches and SA Doomhammer keycaps.
Is this from Ali Express? Pardon me, But I think I saw the brand there.
@calm cobalt ^
Looks great.
I got it off of Alibaba actually
The ones on aliexpress are said to be for optical switches
i'm gonna buy a bluetooth keyboard with optomechanical switches
(they say optical but they're part mechanical, Gateron makes the most popular ones, and Razer uses them for their keyboards)
razer uses their in house designed/manufactured ones rather
which one
the white arrow keys and esc key look dope
plus, the grey stands out more than the other one
colored legends are cool, but not as cool
Top for sure
Are there any headphones that are similar to the arctis 7 in features but have thicker and more comfortable pads because I got replacement 30mm pads on my arctis 7s and my ears still touch the hard plastic inside and hurt after like 15 mins of use.
How thicc are the pads
@hollow badge If you need help for setup improvement, what are your specs ?
I don’t know if you want to improve the looks or the pc or something else too
(Moving the conversation here because #build-pics should remain clean)
Ventus cards aren’t very cool
Definitely upgrade the GPU by the way
And an SSD is needed
What about the PSU, Case ? Maybe improvement is needed there
Or monitor
Because you’ll be pushing higher frames with a 1660S Than with 1050Ti so higher refresh rate might be needed
My specs are fine:
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K (OC'ed to 4.3Ghz due to Crashes)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 2800Mhz (XMP Enabled)
CPU COOLER: Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 240 Liquid CPU Cooler
GPU: Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti (Upgrading to 1660 Super OC XS Ventus)
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero
HDD: Seagate BarraCuda - 1 TB Internal Hard Drive
PSU: Kolink 700W 80 PLUS GOLD MODULAR PSU
SSD: None
CASE: Kolink Stronghold Midi Tower Gaming Case - White Tempered Glass Side Window
Peripherals:
Monitor: electriQ 27" 1ms 144Hz
Mousepad: Nitro Concepts 1600 X 800MM - Black
Mouse: Glorious Model O - Matte Black (Modded Cable)
Keyboard: Motospeed CK61 (Ducky/Anne Pro Replica)
@mighty egret
just wrote it for you aha
You should really get an SSD, and maybe a better PSU (I’ve never heard of Kolink) @hollow badge
PSU is fine @mighty egret
850w with all connectors
Doesnt matter about brand lol
Kolink is known
yup
Kolink order now at CASEKING ~large choice ~cheapest prices ~delivery in 24h - HIER ist NICHTS Standard!
the rocket is pretty nice idk any other products
It’s not because it’s from a know brand that it’s necessarily good
Hey I need some help picking a keyboard, right now mine is really loud and the keys are too broadly separated and lifted up it makes pressing keys accurately kind of difficult, are there any wired keyboards that are affordable and back lit? and flat if possible (for quiet writing)
maybe you had mechanical keyboard thats why its so loud
Yeahhh and im considering buyiong a different one
which is the reason i want some opinions
You want another mechanical keyboard ?
https://www.caseking.de/en/kolink-big-chungus-rgb-aluminium-showcase-black-red-gekl-052.html @trim latch
big chungus
xD haha they must be playing a lot of vr chat to come out with that name
no idea
my motherboard only has a 3.0 header anyway iirc
wish my case had four ports though
they should remove 2.0 support on all cases.. because 2.0 works in 3.1 xD is there a benifits of keeping 2.0?
at the back of the mobo a lot usb slot haha
i have a lot of ports on hte back but i ruined one of them accidentally ripping out a keyboard cable while moving the case
it was not my best moment
No, 3.1 is light blue
The red is just what the motherboard manufacturer wanted, it doesn't signify type
i though 3.0 is light blue
@sacred timber look up razer cynosa chroma or ornata chroma theyre really quiet i have the cynosa its really good
Ah, thank you!
I dont think i want a mechanical keyboard btw
I think im good with the flat keys, been 8 months with this one and I still make typos because of it
DSA caps look soo good
How do i go about installing them? Do i have to worry about size or compatibility? I would be willing to do it
Online Shopping at Banggood.com!
rip only blue switch in stock lol
or the Anne pro 2
[Gateron Switch]Anne Pro 2 60% bluetooth 4.0 Type-C Dual Mode RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, more details on www.banggood.com, welcome to check it.
depends on what you like to use
and what kinda budget u have
cause I’ve seen people use keyboards from $5-$3500 for gaming
I like 60% keyboards
not everyone will like those
also banggood has a processing time because of the lunar new year
anything that ships from china is gonna take forever
Any suggestions on gaming keyboard + mouse? Max around $150 together; rgb both; wired both.
Also same company, if possible
Aren’t there any other particular things you would like ?
Maybe you would prefer mechanical rather than membrane KB for example
@raven flint
Um, late answer but: mechanical, probably cherry mx switches;
Also the mouse shouldn’t have too many macro keys
Also it would be nice if keyboard has wristrest @mighty egret
GMMK and g502
Good. If it was meant for me.
And any other Corsair mouse
I heard M65 PRO / ELITE are nice
There are other options, but if you want the Same brand for KBM then I personally would recommend Corsair (or maybe razer) @raven flint
What about Logitech g513 carbon + g502 hero
By macro keys on the mouse, do you mean buttons ? Because the g502 has 11 buttons or so
I mean buttons on top of 3 standard
And also I can’t find any g513 carbon with cherry mx switches..
Yeah. It has Logitech switches
With the buttons on the mouse i just didn’t want smth like the razer naga trinity
U could change that one tho
Well honestly G502 has a lot of buttons
Ur right
But if you’re fine with that, I heard it’s good
For midsize to large hands
I personally play FPS games with a DeathAdder Elite and I love it
But that doesn’t mean you’ll like it too
Um, im not fully grown. Might my hands still be midsize to big?
Also what’s a good razer keyboard?
When selecting an ergonomic mouse, it is important to consider the size of your hand and the size of the ergonomic mouse. An ergonomic mouse that is too large for your hand will cause your fingers to stretch when using it. Likewise, an ergonomic mouse that is too small for yo...
Just found this on google, you should measure your hand and see if it could be good for the dimensions of the mouse you’ll be buying
And to answer your question
With wrist rest too
Or this one but it’s more expensive and TKL
The Blackwidow Elite + DeathAdder Elite?
yeah, what i linked you
