#cases-psu-and-cooling

IDK, play around with it a bit and see if it affects temps. I think it won't but you never know.
Revolution D.F
anyone got some recommendations for a good 600-ish watt PSU?
Segotep SGG or GPG

@fallow cairn it's llc dc-dc smh
na bro I want my group regulation and DF
It has double in the name so it's double as good
this guy gets it
hmmm, big brain
thank you ^^
Any suggestions for sleeved PSU cables?
Any suggestions for cool looking pc cases that are small but would still fit atx components?
Not especially worried about airflow
depends on the specific atx parts you want
if you mean ATX mainboard, then there is a fair limit on the size of things
if you mean, atx PSU but a matx/itx mainboard, there are a bunch of interesting (and quite varied) sizes available
more of if I wanted a new case, I wouldn't want a new psu, but I could prolly swap the mobo
so psu size is more important, but if it looked coll style wise and could fit an atx mobo that would be cool
I'm looking for style looks more than anything else
Looks are very subjective so any more pointers ...?
not a box
or at least not just a box
not really sure, but something that stands out on a desk sort of thing
I know it's not much description........
ok thanks
mb311l has some clearance issues and other fan related stuff
any good cases under 50?
Cougar i think do a case around there that's ntb
I have a nice Phanteks case I'm going to use. (Well, nice looks-wise. Still going to have to figure out how I'm setting up the fans I bought.)
I had a 600w thermaltake smart and that actually burnt up, back positive and ground got fried along with the positive female end of the power cord.
I have a pic actually
Gotta find it first
Need a pretty cheap psu for my 2nd build . 500-600w should be good . Any suggestions?
What's going to be in the build, CPU and GPU specifically?
2600x + 2 x 1060 6gb
It will be 70 for me is it worth it?
Eh I can’t find it but I still have the PSU
Because of shipping and taxes
What site is best for shipping for you? Newegg, Amazon, Best Buy?
But yeah the TT smart 80+ should probably be moved to E-tier, I’ve seen at least another instance where someone’s also had their PSU fry and one where it caught fire.
But yeah sorry for the super late reply, this just caught my eye, coming from personal experience with that same/similar PSU I would definitely get a different one, if you don’t want to run the risk of frying or worse starting a fire.
@sand atlas found this at a local store ANTEC PSU 600W VP600P Plus is that a ok one? Or not
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/wTK7YJ/thermaltake-power-supply-tr600
How's the price on this one for you?
That's a tier D, would not recommend
Ok
65
Should i get the other one for a bit more?
No hang on, I'll find a good one for under $60 with shipping at least tier B
👍
This will probably be your best bet, it's tier C but you don't need the best of the best for a 1060
https://www.newegg.com/evga-600-bq-110-bq-0600-k1-600w/p/N82E16817438100
Thanks for the help
na
just buy Segotep
BQ is literally terrible
it should have been tier D or something
At least it has OCP, unlike most D tier
I dont mind paying 10$ more for it if it is much better
on 12v
and neither does it have correctly set OPP
no OTP either
and it runs really really hot
The 500 BQ switches off quickly on the minor rails, but has not implemented an OCP on the 12-volt rail. As in the case of the 500 BQ, it only becomes problematic if the overload protection (OPP) is not configured correctly.
ye it has no OCP and incorrectly set OPP
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0832KN3RV so should i get this one?
In the 500 BQ there is no protective circuit against overheating, which is why in the event of a possible failure or blockage of the fan, one must hope that another fuse will trigger.
👍
guys i need an expert help , ive got one of these Azza 802f cube cases , and ive lost the RGB remote controller of it , what shold i do
That remote is extremely common. I'd first contact Azza about a replacement part, and if they won't replace it I'll pull a link in a minute
i did contact them , they said it is not a problem and its cheap but there is an alternative , they said if i my mainboard has a 3pin 5volt rgb header , i can straight connect to that and controll the fans off my mainboard
What motherboard do you have then?
The link I promised btw
https://www.formulamod.com/FormulaMod-Fm-MFC-Sync-Controller-For-ARGB5v-3pin-Lighting-Fan2510-4pin-PowerPWM-Hub-For-ConnectingSync-To-Motherboard-p2446119.html
You have the same board as me. We don't have the correct RGB header for this kind of lighting.
See? Common
in the link , well it work with m hub too or do i have to replace that as well , meaning can i buy that seprately or must i get the whole thing
I picked that one out because it was the exact same remote, it should just work without replacing everything.
ok , my question was odd , so everything is in that purchase or is it only the remote controller
?
got it
"Package includes:
1x Molex D-type 4pin power cable
1x Motherboard sync cable
1x 21 Keys RF remote controller
1x Multifunctional hub box"
yes thank you sir , just saw it
It's the whole kit just in case it doesn't work for whatever reason
well thanks , unfortunate that they support only paypal , thats just hdus
If you want I can dig up another site or another model with the same remote
thatsd be great , 2 searching is always better than one , i live in europ just for info
What part of Europe? Some sites don't ship to some countries
Check here, there's lots of those remotes and I know Aliexpress ships to Austria
https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20210408004135&SearchText=21+key+rgb+wireless+remote
Quality 21 key rgb wireless remote with free worldwide shipping on AliExpress
thank you very much my friend
Reason: Bad word usage
What case would be best for cats with airflow?
Im wanting to make a new pc but o got 3 vats
Cats
Well, what's the budget and what do you want to put in it?
Is it worth it to get extensions vs just getting the actual cables? I have everything but the psu in this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m4TxK3
Any suggestions for psus would also be cool
Only for asthetic purposes, also you can get way better performance out of that budget
How would you change it?
If you're just gaming a 5600x and b550 motherboard
change ram change mobo change cooler
I mean ive already bought just about everything so there no going back but just curios
10700k is okay, but 5600x can outperform
And rqm and cooler
it's a lot of extra premium paid for looks
I got the motherboard for 310 and the cpu for 250 on sale, couldn't even find a 5600x in stock
Ohh well then that's okay i guess you must could have done better performance wise
Thats just not true either
uh
Mobo so overpriced
I have testing to back the statement up
Practically every game other than rdr2, 5600x outperforms 10700k in the games tested
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01EhbmJAW-k
Our review of the AMD R5 5600X CPU is now up. We're testing it mostly in gaming vs. the Intel i5-10600K crown-holder, the AMD R9 5900X, 5950X, and many others. 5800X next.
Sponsor: Buy the Corsair 4000D Airflow on Amazon (https://geni.us/aMBA1r)
Our Wireframe Desk-Sized Mouse Mats are on back-order and will be shipping soon! https://store.gamer...
It's not just GN too, I can find other benchmarks/reviewers
lemme go for anandtech
I watch Jay Z two cents and his benchmarks where different
Hw unboxed similar results too i believe
Well you spent a metric crap tun too much on mobo, in general mobo should be half cpu price, but should never exceed it
there's the unreasonably low res for showing scaling for example
I couldn't find a wifi motherboard that matched the white theme
And yes, I know I could have gotten a dongle
WiFi pci connectors 20$
And then they come with Bluetooth too
ik
Also why you won't even see the motherboard
You'll only see bottom mb but cooler and gpu will block most
Ohh wait you have aio nvm
But check pins for the psu tier list btw
I mean I know I spent a lot on asthetics, but in my opinion, it was worth it for me to spend the extra 200 dollars (out of all the parts) on that
Well the ek aio is better and rgb as well so
least it's not bad, as long as you know you spent extra
And 120
you just need to know that you did spend extra for it
Yeah this i guess
as long as you accept that, fair.
I want to have all my fans hooked up with icue
But anything in the A tier of psus in the pins should be g
What is your opinion on the 750RM vs RMx?
I mean fair as long as you know you could have got better perf and accept you spent money on making it look pretty
RMx is just flat out better
^
wdym
Capacitors
oh ok
I think its like 10 dollars more on newegg comparing the two so I assume its probably worth that
Its actually 20 dollars more rn lol
RMx has nice jap caps, RM has wacky chinese caps, and that's not a joke or exaggeration
anything in Tier A of the LTT PSU list, some examples would be like Revolution D.F., Phanteks amp, Seasonic Focus plus GX/GM
Yea, I've been looking at that list and I find it really hard to understand
I also got quite literally every part on sale but the GPU so theres that
I mean I probably saved close to 250 dollars just from deals I was waiting out for
unless you got really good deals
oh well
doesn't really matter at this point, just the point that aesthetics are expensive
yea
Also be quiet pure power 11 i think is the a tier one can't remember their psu names
there's like 50, I just choose some I liked
revo d.f. and phanteks amp generally best in terms of price for 750w/850w
True
Seasonic for brand name if you scared of enermax and phanteks
Yeah not many ppl heard of enermax
before I learned what was actually in the PSU I really looked down on enermax
because the liqtech I and II gunk thing
I think im just gonna go with the RMx 750
That should do you fine
Well, just a side note, revo d.f. is on the same platform as rmx lel
cwt gpu
Corsair just modified it a bit
any aios yall would recommend? I forgot to mention I haven't gotten that yet
Im pretty confident in the one I had on there just bc of icue but idk
Freezer ii, EK-AIO, or Lian Li Galahad
I always forget about the Galahad
Your choice out of the 3, those are the top performing aios atm (from GN testing)
it's like the holy trinity imo xD
ya
So Im basically gonna be paying 40 dollars for the fans to match and the software
Icue is actually really nice imo
I'm the person to use freezer ii
I like having hardware-side control, 0 need for any rgb software :P
or leave rgb stock
but eh
corsair corsair once you're in the ecosystem you kinda need it for rgb
yep
Does the Galahad have as many rgb wires that are required for the corsair? I thought that was just a corsair thing but im not sure
@languid sphinx It has a splitter for the fans, so one cable terminating, but it gives you the option to plug into a controller powered by sata power if you want to
Best buy doesn't have any of the three you suggested me(I have a gift card) so I think im going to have to go with the corsair anyway
thanks for the help tho
:)
Are these any good compared to the cable mod ones? I cant find the cablemod ones anywhere in stock. I think im going to go with the regular cables bc I have a gift card for that as well that would cover the difference https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16812304076
Well the psu comes with its own cables btw you don't need to buy em
I know lol
That's what it sounds like you're saying anyway
Im not that stupid
Those are still very expensive
It was just worded that way lol
Nb lol just making sure lol
Also, seems to be in stock
https://usstore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-classic-modflex-c-series-cable-kit-for-corsair-axi-hxi-rm/
Tbh the black cables still look grand
Thats for regular RM
versus RMx
god damn it I hate cablemod now
I was going for redirects from this lol
https://cablemod.com/product/cablemod-classic-modmesh-c-series-cable-kit-for-corsair-rmi-rmx-white/
oh
This is RMi/RMx/RM
actually
pinout should be the same
it's both CWT GPU, should be same connectors
no DP10/11/12 and SP11 gold/platinum are A, straight power 11 was never A
It says " AXi / HXi / RM"
cablemod is just wack
I thought you were talking about the ones from the cablemod store
@fallow cairn pinout for rmx and rm should be the same, right?
it's the same damn platform, plus some meme caps for rm
It just doesn't let me send the exact link you sent me
iil see, should be
Ohh always get the be quiet model names confused
So are these good or nah? https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16812304076
@fallow cairn just realized RM orange label, the one the kit is for, is not CWT GPU, it's some other mods
modded CSG and CSH it seems?
but sad
yep
Corsair's PSU compatibility chart
corsair needs better documentation
So RM from 2019 should be compatible with the RMx version
I've yet to find a CX 450 manual, what, one year into looking for one
yes
Bitfenix sells 16AWG cable replacement kits called Alchemy 2.0 that are compatible with both Corsair Type 4
@languid sphinx Yes, but the one on cablemod is RM Orange Label, which is different, just note
?
which RM do you have again?
Im planning on getting the RMx 750w
Oh wait Can't I just get the Rmx white version and save a ton of money
lol yes
I think im just going to do that. Sorry I didn't realize those came with white cables
Also late response but RM gets rid of the in-cable caps, uses a llc resonant controller with burst mode for higher efficiency and switching from burst to normal can cause a whine-like sound around, worse ripple, caps are now elite/teapo (?)/su'scon and it's noisier
Yea, its actually 20 dollars less rn to get the RMx version(not sure what the person who put that listing up is smoking) so im just gonna go with that anyway
👍
At least on newegg
thx tho
good lord $150+ still for a 850W PSU, i musta gotten lucky when I paid $99 for my TT SmartPower 850W back in 2011 due to a BB employee placing error
Uh
Revo d.f. 850w for 130$ still bae
I don't think 100$ for tt smart 850w is wrong
Smart is a lower end model
Isn't Thermaltake Smart one of the PSUs considered somewhat risky to have?
Yeah I was just talking about my 600w TT smart that fried itself and almost started a fire
Hang on I think I found a pic
Aren't the only RMx units that are DF (orange label) like 7 years old..?
Lol
Whats a good psu for above 1000w?
Seasonic and Corsair
Opinions on absolute best case money can buy for thermals, build quality, and general sexiness?

Check pins
Everything depends on budget but imo corsair 4000d/5000d airflow
No budget concerns
Ty I'll check it out. 4000d was on my list but didn't know about 5000d
I do like the looks of the ones that have the fans on the back. Is it actually good for temps to max out the fans on that?
5000d is just a slightly bigger with side mounted fan as option i believe
I have 2 2 fan radiators
Well you want fans in the front and back
?
I have a cpu aio and a gpu aio
My cpu has always been my front intake
and my gpu rad my exhaust but I need new case because new gpu will be 2 fan and I don't have a spot for a 2nd rad
Looks like it's built for that
I like this case! May well get it, tyvm. Open to any other suggestions for comparison too! Ideally I want this case to last like 10+ years haha
Np, that makes sense cases are just a feature set and it should last 10 years
you're confusing RM (Orange lineup) with RMx, RMx never used DF
how so
oh nvm
I thought it said "uses a llc resonate controller that can cause a while like sound" or something
didn't see the burst mode
im durp
There's a couple ITX boards that fit Epyc processors
I think I'm going to keep looking for something more flexible than the O11 Dynamic XL. After watching GN case review it seems like despite its size it's actually pretty limiting, and I'm need to make sure this case is able to house basically anything
Any one know a good case with nice air flow i got 3 cats so filters would be nice
The usual good cases, td500 mesh, p500a, 4000d, lancool ii mesh, etc.
iirc 4000d has a removable dust filter, for the others, the mesh front is the filter (removable ofc)
lemme check if it was 4000d or 5000d that has removable filters..
@scenic lance First, what's your budget for a case?
I mean my buget is 2 k and i git the ram and mother bord so id say 1 to 200
what would be a good program to make up a model for a case i want to build?
U can make your own case?
yeah?
ive been drawing up different schematics for a few ideas i had
rn i have a phanteks p400a and it doesnt really have the room for the type of build im going for, so im either going to chop it and modify it or build one how i want it from the ground up
@scenic lance Well, P500a is a great case to use imo
https://www.newegg.com/black-phanteks-eclipse-p500a-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811854101
(it's the one I linked, but yea, P500a is great, Vintageracer has it right now)
Ok thx
Do the fans change color with a remote or dose it rotate?
I Saw those so theought id ask
I need to check, I believe it comes with a remote too?, but either way, it'll be controllable with software
Ok thx cuse i got a temp ibuypower and i cant change the color
They just rotate
It came with a prpgram but it couldent load it
looking for a decent priced psu (around $100-120 mark) anywhere from 650-750W - any suggestions, thanks.
Check pins best psu on the tier list you can find for that price in a or b tier tbh
thanks my bad didnt even see the pinned list
whats the best 850w psu fully modular 80+ gold and up under 135$
thank you
If i had to pick go with the thermaltake
Have used before and satisfied
New thermaltake stuff is actually pretty good
Honorable mention to the EVGA bq that i would pick if it weren’t semi instead of full modular
first of all, it only has the CPU and 24 pin non modular, youre gonna need those anyways so it makes no sense why people say it sucks cause its semi modular, and second of all the BQ is far inferior to the GF1 and DF
quality-wise
@opal night do you have some sources on aresgame PSUs
Anything that offers a paid review on Amazon is no good
It's on LTT list now
Tier D XD
Big surprise there
I mean you can literally look inside the fan grille and see that it’s group regulated
Aresgame buys reviews, most if not all their units are group regulated
they advertise false marketing of DC/DC as well
recently they have also been marketing OTP
the OEM is Jiumeng, a small electronics manufacturer
uh the heck
Corsair's chinese name
lol what
even their logo kind of looks like a ship's sail
https://images-ext-1.discordapp.net/external/t6q4Fu3BJFeINv8wSTX_ZEQal1bSb3Bzc75T1WKPono/https/i.ytimg.com/vi/UrBLnFl-0qY/maxresdefault.jpg
Hello guys! I have a question in regards to my gaming case (if it's okay to ask in here)?
go ahead
American Pirate Ship I’m dying
So I have to replace my tempered glass side panel since it shattered, and was wondering if any of the Fractal Design R4, R5, or R6 side panel upgrades would fit on my case? I have a CyberPowerPC Onyxia II 242W High Air Flow Mid Tower Gaming Case?
I don't need to replace the whole case, just the side panel
(hopefully)
The side panel, and case, look really similar to a Thermaltake Core G21
Not the front panel but the inside
Is there a chance you can send some pictures
I’m not sure how you’d buy just a side panel for either of those but idk
sure! One sec
oh, it says I don't have permission to attach files LOL
I can put it in gen chat rq??
nvm, build pics is where I placed the images at
@limpid ivy Hmm do you have warranty for the pc still
Cause cyber power would probably send a replacement side panel
I'm almost positive it still has the warranty. It's not even a year old
Yeah 2 year is standard for prebuilt companies I believe
I sent a request to CyberPowerPC, so just waiting on that. I was just curious about the fractal design side panel upgrades as a just in case type thing
At least 1 year
ye
Waiting for them to respond is probably the best option
yeah
Would be hard to find one the same height width and stuff
Unless it’s just a rebrand of a different case
right right
well I appreciate the help! Thank you thank you!
luckily everything still works on it...had to fish out all the tempered glass pieces
that was so much fun LOL
I’ve shattered a panel before was too lazy to get a replacement
@limpid ivy from those pics you posted that is definitely an alternation of the Thermaltake Core G21
If you can get a core G21 panel it should work
Cause here’s my core G21 build. Exactly the same
Such a smol matx board
In such a big case too haha
Versa H18 is basically the same case but smaller :p
Well this was $30 on sale so I was like why not
Fair
Unless I had a reason to use this specific case other than being on sale I wouldn’t use it
Epic
that's the Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case 6 RGB LED Fans 2 Translucent Tempered Glass Panels USB 3.0 Port,Cable Management/Airflow, Gaming Style Window Case (903N4(4PCS RGB Fans)) case
@scenic lance Looks like the Musetek case
best combo bang for the buck and cooling atx case with decent aesthetic? im guessing the p300a but i need a diff case for better cooling, cpu and gpu a little warmer than id like them to be
no im saying im guessing that may be the best answer but i dont know. and i want to make the right choice
i have a corsair 200r and it isn't the greatest for front intakes
Corsair 400d/5000d airflow
Oh I thought you meant you need something other than p300a for some reason
P400a, p500a, lancool ii mesh, td500 mesh
Gamers nexus has really detailed case reviews if you wanna check temp
Just keep in mind circumstances behind charts
Indeed
(some case better for cpu temp, some better for gpu temp, some better with stock fan setup, some better with normalized fan setup, etc)
400d/5000d way outta price range lol but ill check those others out
Uh I just assumed 100$ price range
^
80 - 100 is what im shooting for but i know the 4000d i could afford to buy. ill just have to see whats the best for my case
Oh right 5000d is like 150$
what's the best case for around 50 with fans included (at least 2)
or should I try to buy a cheap case, then get fans?
honestly i just found this and it doesnt look bad https://www.amazon.com/Antec-NX410-Mid-Tower-Gaming-Tempered/dp/B08PTB45YQ/ref=sr_1_47?dchild=1&keywords=computer+case&qid=1618266685&sr=8-47
comes with 3 fans, argb, and two being 140mm
I was looking at the montiech flyer rn
ive heard its nice to build in, but airflow is choked
doesnt look like great value for what, $47?
too bad idx7 is outta stock that woulda been great
5600x and 1060 pop off
wdym
just an odd pairing unless youre waiting for new gpu
i am
I think I'll try an get either a 3060 or 2060ti, or I'll get a 6700xt
just not great quality
Does Enermax make decent cpu coolers? Was looking at the ets t50 on an i5 11600
id rather not for $60
Get something like a scythe mugen or fuma for that price
guys my brand new phantecks 750w is randomly shutting down during gaming
i have a non oc 9900k and 1660 ti hooked up to it
What's happening when it shuts down? And did you double check all the connections?
it basically shuts the whole pc down
on my psu there is a click when the psu turns off and thats what is happening
and yes they are all plugged in
Hmm I'm not hugely knowledgeable in psu but might have to rma
what?
Rma, like a return
oh no
my guy you can get a used 1060 3gb for 75~
used
Maybe a year ago lol not anymore
errr there are like 5+ listings of 3gb 1060s
They 100% scams
W
Without vram
Yes you have to weed out the sketchy ones
There's cards without vram?
Gotta watch out for the vram thiefs XD
lol
GTS 450
gf116 chip is like gt545 anyways
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/nvidia-gf116.g88
Probs the top ranked on user benchmark XD
lol
ooF
guys everytime i get into a apex game my whole pc shuts down
like my psu just shuts down
What psu you got
Whjat parts are you powering with that?
1660 ti and non oc 9900k
SHould be more than enough to power things. Way more than enough. I'd suspect heat issues before power supply. You're sure all the connections are proper?
k
But yeah check temps too
Use HWINFO64. What cooler are you running on that 9900k? Please don't say stock intel....
stock intel...
SIKE d15
Hmmm, that should be fine also. GPU power is going to PCI-E spot on Phanteks right?
Not the Sata ports?
9900K has 8 pin CPU power on motherboard?
Did you remember to take the plastic off bottom of the d15 lol?
WOuldn't be the first time actually
my temps are fine sub 30
What's it like under load this
well before today 50~
That's why i asked lol
For both?
now i cant put a load on it before i shut down
how?
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
o thx
Do Asia horse cable extensions work on the c850 nzxt psu
Extensions should, in theory, work for everything
Good news! CyberPower is sending another glass 😊
nice!
I keep being tempted to put some cable extensions on my list.
Anyone have any good suggestions for a mini itx case?
There's so many different types and sizes of ITX case I couldn't possibly recommend one without knowing what other features you need. Do you need it ultra compact? A handle? Will you be putting a full size GPU in there?
And will you be water/air cooling
Water cooling, full size gpu and I’m going portable
RTX 3090 with H710i? Enough airflow? Was looking at NZXT prebuilts to refresh myself with prices and that doesn't seem like it would be enough.
Preferably I’m going for something that doesn’t take up too much space
No but if you're buying a 3090, that's a pretty good way to get a new build but you could always just disassemble and put into a 5000d airflow or something
I mean it might be okay
Wouldn't recommend tho
What I thought. I'm not going to get a 3090 just saw it on their pre-builts
Assumed so
eh, surprisingly decent, but I personally wouldn't use the case
Ntb
the review is like 2 years old
keep that in mind
p400a p500a lancool ii mesh td500 mesh all not up there
Yea, and thats also not with a 3090 lol
but all of those perform around H500 (no suffix, coolermaster) or better than it
It's a comparison of cases :P
remember
this is dT over ambient
Assumed they were reading GPU temps from software or something
No one can predict temp in a specific situation
Still, if your getting a 3090 no reason not to get a 5000D or something else
5000d being 150$ kills it's value imo
p500a for what, 130$ is it but better
:P
Check out optimal tech on YouTube he does a lot of itx and water cooling builds
And water cooling parts especially for itx
Imo mid tower atx is best, most flexible you can fit atx/matx/itx mobos in and best for airlfow
ok thx
k
P400a can fit 360 mm rad front mounted
I believe
How many Watts do I need for a 3060ti and 11400f?
600 or 650w will do fine
Hi. I don't know where to go in here on the topic of unboxing a PC. So i took out the foam and checking things out for damage or anything. I haven't touched anything but i notice there are zip ties on the cords and something that looks like it could be plugged in but is zipped tied so i don't know
I tried calling them but no answer
Do i cut those papers off? And cut off the zip ties
people pay extra for good cable management 🙂 zip ties are good
Okay what about the white paper. Do i take that off?
no
it literally says void if removed doesnt it
Okay. Thanks
Pretty sure those are illegal but probs so someone doesn't accidentally cut the wire instead lol
when you say illegal, do you mean like its a crime to add, or just that it isn't enforceable or binding in any way?
Illegal to put those on
thats concerning then lol
either way Id leave it and just tuck it away, its a clear indicator not to mess with it
lawyers arent worth the hassle if you have to deal with support and they get difficult about it
Okay I'm ready to start plugging cords.. i think i did it wrong last time. So i plug in power cord from monitor to pc where? This sticker says remove before use but it has an arrow so im confused if it wants me to plug stuff down below
The power cord goes to your wall
Connect your monitors display to where it tell you
You might need to take out the black things for the port you wannt use
i think it probably wants you to plug the hdmi or display port into the gpu (the ones the arrow points at) rather than the motherboard (which might have additional ports the sticker is covering up?)
I have a power cord for the monitor to connect to PC and it doesn't really say where
power goes to wall
hdmi or display port goes to pc
Plug thst into the wall
Wall or extension lead
Or you might call it a surge protector
I think we are talking about different plug ins. I 2 already connected to wall.
this is power, it goes to wall
this is display port, plug it into the pc
awesome 🙂
afterward you can remove that sticker, it just wanted you to be sure it plugged into the gpu and not the motherboard, which might have extra ports
You don't need both HDMI and DP, unless you have multiple monitors
you only need one of the two; so just leave the dp in. the other ports are if you have additional monitors (and again, use the ones in the gpu)
Display port is better tho if you have a dp cable
Okay so the GPU is the ones on the very bottom
yeah
that has to be switched on, and then the power button on the front actually turns it on
if that is switched off, power button wont work
M27q?
Yes
Nice
I have one too, you can look up some color settings for it online and it makes it look better
Do i need to set anything up myself like windows 10 or drivers if thats the right word? Im so new to this.
That was a prebuilt right? It should be done already
remember, every panel is different, that's why you should either leave it alone or calibrate it yourself
and M27q has an extremely good out of box color accuracy as tested by RTings :P
Navidia control panel not found.
Get nvdia/amd drivers, amd/intel chipset drivers and do windows update
download it then
And other drivers if you wanna use something like driver booster by iobit
it should've came with nvcp tbh
Do i download the armoury crate app?
not necessary, I wouldn't unless necessary, not great software (buggy and annoying)
Okay
How do i get amd drivers?
Do i turn this on?
Their website, go to chipset then choose the one that your motherboard has, you might need to download cpuz to get the chipset
Just turn on should work
Do you know the actual website?
What CPU and GPU was in there? I'll grab links
Skytech Shiva - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X - GeForce RTX 3070 - 16 GB DDR4 - 1 TB NVMe SSD - Windows 10 Home - Gaming Desktop
Okay. I'm there. Where do i go now?
Support then drivers iirc
The prebuilt has am x570?
So which one do i click on chipsets?
I sent a second link
Hit Windows 10 - 64 Bit, then there's a download button
I can't get this app to pull up on my pc instead of phone. Can you walk me through it please?
This is what im looking at atm
Follow the other link I sent that ends in x570
Okay i sent it to myself. Its pulled up on pc instead of phone now
You can access discord through a browser too, you don't need it installed btw
Okay so i download all of these under windows 10?
Just the first one, the rest are for special cases like RAID volumes
Did it boot? If yes it worked
Whats boot?
Never mind. If you're back in the desktop install the Nvidia driver next.
If there's not warning or anything when installing it, then it worked.
Okay installing nvidia geforce experience
Downloading geforce game ready driver
Says its installed. What's next?
That's it. Install the things you want, play games, enjoy.
How do i know the chipset installed?
amd drivers, amd? intel chipset drivers? Whats the difference? And im supposed to do a windows update after?
Windows update will run on its own in the background. It'll let you know if you need to reboot.
AMD and Intel are the motherboard chipset manufacturers, you have an AMD system so you use AMD chipset drivers.
Nvidia and AMD make GPUs, you have a Nvidia RTX GPU so you use the Nvidia graphics drivers.
Okay. So we completed everything we needed to. Do i need to configure resolution or anything for the monitor or should I be all set?
right, i've got a 2070 super, a 3700x, and all the basic stuff like SSDs, ram and such
my power supply kicked the bucket, anyone got a recommendation that won't break for explode?
You should be all set. Like I said, Windows will update in the background. Just about everything is automated these days. Go ahead and install all your programs.
Budget?
Thank you so much for your time
whatever can get the thing working again, or else i'm losing 1500 by having a dead computer
and this won't kick the bucket within a year like whatever garbage they put in my PC will?
The enermax has a 7 year warranty and the corsair has 10, both are known to be A tier top dog units
lovely
Given $170 for a case whats your recommendation? Friend is looking at the H710i know there must be a better case out there.
P500a
Ehhh H710i isn't horrible but much better ones exist for cheaper. Check out the 4000d/5000d airflow.
TD500 mesh, (Coolermaster) H500, 4000d, 5000d, P400a, etc
P500a is my top suggestion though
Oh no I know its not bad, just there are cheaper and better options
What gpu do you plan to put in when you can get your hands on a recent one?
It's a c tier psu, will do but I'd see if there's anything else for that price 1 sec
maybe a 2060fe or 3060ti fe
750 w for a 1060?
650 max for 3060ti upgrade down the road.
Or the segotep
Yeah
k
That's a b tier psu so will be better than the evga one you originally had
k
I'm aiming a little higher for a modular PSU. I'm willing to pay a bit more to dodge certain annoyances.
Is a 750 wat gold good for a i700k and gtx 3070
Ayo do your grandpa game
Grandpa watches fonx noos
Why does he have 750w power supply
Ion even kno
He's the kind of person to pay big monies on most things
So
He's got early adopter genes
Do any of you have recommendations on mini ITX cases?
Early LG 4K tv, launch model ps4, early home wifi camera security, etc.
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Cases/Mid-Tower-ATX-Cases/5000D-AIRFLOW-Tempered-Glass-Mid-Tower-ATX-PC-Case/p/CC-9011211-WW is this a good case?
The CORSAIR 5000D AIRFLOW is a mid-tower ATX case that shows off your PC, and not its cables. Hidden cable management and an airflow-optimized front panel make building a clean, cool PC easy, with two included CORSAIR AirGuide fans.
Yes, good eATX case and good for custom cooling
P500a
i broke the rgb hub that came with my pc case. what do i do
well duh, but where do i get one
idk
it connects to my led header
3 pin or 4 pin?
4 pin
so it is -RGB
k
3
ok
Maybe take a picture of the hub? It might help in recommendations to replace. Or tell us what case you have
yes
msi mag forge 100m
photo
dm me
Been looking for one, can't find that exact one. What brand and model case is it?
msi mag forge 100m
WOW that manual is unhelpful
There's this one but it requires a motherboard connection to change the LED's. Can't be done from the switch. I still can't find that exact board. :/ https://www.newegg.com/p/1W7-005X-00080
idk who needs it
but this is a 600w psu for 44$ plus tax
it is on a big discount from newegg
40% off from 75$
Pretty meh quality PSU, overpriced to begin with 😉
i think its fine for me and other ppl who are building a entry level pc on a budget
Depends on what you're powering with it
isn't BR more decent quality than BA
Both really meh
Yeah
Not worth
I think Corsair CX just a few bucks more
Well it used to be, not anymore -_-
Ya, looks like
To the crap evga?
Oh it's better than the evga br
But that's a pretty low bar lol
The segotep gp-g OPP set limit does really put me off though
Im mobile else id look
It uses the andyson q8 platform it seems which is the same as what the evga bq uses
So it's not a bomb but it's defo not a good unit
Regular rpice 75 too is horrible
Yeah that's awful corsair cx is far better at that price point if not lower
Yup! But on sale for 45 id still go segotep for 50
Like i said for the points I raised I couldn't put my trust in the segotep
For reference
That's the enermax platimax unit that the segotep gp-g is a cost down version of
No OCP on the 12v rail and OPP set greater that 150%
Defo could lead to damaged components if it goes wrong
Shame the cx has gone up in price so much
What was thebother one, montech gamma or beta?
Montech century but isn't as good value as it was a few months back
Msi agf is lower or same price and is better
Msi agf should be fine it's the same platform used by alot of psu's
The CWT GPU used in:
Revolution df (multi rail version) (best fan available with this platform)
Whisper m (multi rail version)
Deepcool dq-m (multi rail version)
Corsair RM (less heavily modified version)
Corsair RMx (heavily modified version)
Can i get someone who knows about power supplys opinion on the be queit pure power 11? Only the 10 is on the psu list and it's b tier
Afaik RM is just cwt gpu except crappy caps, and also, afaik, gp-p is just on a platform similar to the platimax, not just a cut down version of the platform
And tbh
I don't like agf when revo d.f. 850w is 120$ lel
Yeah Chinese hold up caps and I'm sure some Chinese caps on the secondary side too iirc
And also tbf I agree with this
Also furthering on from gp-g talk someone in another server who tests psu's couldn't get the OTP to trip and did find that the OPP was indeed set sky high
Wack
Qubex? (Qubex being only english reviewer I remember with gp-p/sg-g)
I think rm has bad chinese on primary, and Chinese/taiwanese on secondary
Yeah think it might have been qubex who tested it
Fair, I know they posted internal pics but no testing
Expensive but good
It's the best case I've ever owned (if you don't count a monster CaseLabs case that I decided was way too big when I actually got it put together)
Build experience was night and day compared to the Lian Li O11-XL
Which cost almost twice as much.
The only thing I don't particularly like about it are the sliding plastic covers, but that's because I have an E-ATX motherboard with right angle connectors, and I was just barely able to get the 24-pin cable plugged into it. With an ATX motherboard, or an E-ATX motherboard without 90 degree connectors, it would have been just fine.
Yeah not a fan of them cable covers they have the same in the p500a defo would be better off with rubber grommets
Kind of?
Like... when I slid the covers to the left, then routed the front fan cables, then slid the covers back to cover those, that felt pretty neat.
I don't think they're a bad idea on paper
i nabbed the p400a, it comes in monday and im actually kinda excited
Phanteks won me over just by putting the screws in a compartmentalized plastic case instead of dumping them into a big bag like everyone else seems to do >_>
They were in my P600S
Give me a second, I'll take a picture
I doubt you can see it, but Phanteks is embossed / printed on there too
bro i really hope my p400a comes that way
definitely giving 5 stars for that
just for that
Also, most of this cable management was done when I got the case. All those cable ties were already installed in there, and all the front panel stuff was already cable managed. I just had open the ties and slip cables in there as needed, then refasten. Probably didn't do as great a job, but it looks OK to me.
wont really see much when you put on the rear panel since black doesn't show well on black
Nah. I also love the hinged doors.
I just felt like Phanteks went above and beyond in pretty much every way. If I had looked more into the Evolv X back when it came out I probably would have gotten that instead of the Lian Li case.
I didn't realize the Phanteks supported 140mm fans everywhere.
Or that its front panel didn't really obstruct airflow.
I don't wanna post mine now. I'm planning on swapping out the NH-D15 for an AIO when I can get my hands on a new GPU, and while I am at it, I will probably swap out the stock 24-pin cable and replace it with the custom MDPC-X sleeved one I got. The original one I had measured for the Lian Li wouldn't quite reach.
D15 still nice
Takes up way too much space. I don't know if I can even get to the PCIe release lever with it in there
I can, but it is thicc
I may have to wait a while to get the new PSU, but I thought I'd ask if anyone at Newegg had any ideas for an affordable solution, I would Love it to provide about 2x the demands of the system below, preferably Titanium, or Platinum rated (for better heat management and energy efficiency)

BTW budget today is $200 but likely will have a bit more soon
That poor threadripper... It gets beaten so thoroughly by the new cpu's...
Keeping the peak load below half is actually less efficient than a smaller capacity unit running 80%
Was looking to future system expansion, am willing to sacrifice a bit of efficiency for a future system demand capable PSU
I might have missed it but what gpu were you running?
MSI Radion Rx 570
This is more than you need, A tier to handle anything you throw at it. That power supply could handle a RTX 3090.

Thanks
Are APEVIA or Thermaltake PSUs any good? are they loud?
No, just asking cuz some have the same prices as a Gigabyte or EVGA
Ty
How the BA in comparison to W1 or BR? Obviously you’re saying it’s worse than BR but what are the major differences
In between. BR better, N1 is obviously a fire hazard
is this any good? https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-T2-0850-X1&Source=PCPartPicker
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 T2, 80+ TITANIUM 850W, Fully Modular
EVGA SuperNOVA T2 Power Supplies offer unmatched efficiency and performance. These units feature an unbelievable 94+ efficiency, along with EVGA ECO mode to deliver absolutely zero fan noise during low to medium load operations. Backed by an award winning 10 year warranty, and 100% Japanese capacitor design, the EVGA SuperNOVA T2 series deliver ...
Ofc its good, good value tho definetly not lol
never said god value 😄
$300? That's ridiculous. I bought an EVGA 1200 P2 for like $279 in 2019
Compared to others it's OK
Enermax is top of it's class and multi rail
And only $129
hmm it's only gold, was thinking going titamium level 😄
So fun thing
The difference between gold and titanium is about $5 a year in savings
Maybe $10 at most
So the price difference will literally take you years to overcome
Decades
So save money and just go Gold
The important thing is to refuse to buy any PSU that's not fully modular. We have to have standards lol
the 3000 series is power hungry enough I don't know if I'd be brave enough to go with 750W given what they are liable to come out with next
ya i was thinking 850 for a rtx card and just keep shuffling till i get a chance
nice but pricey. Phanteks AMP 750W is only $109
I bought a Phanteks AMP 750W for my build. (It is a tad overkill for a 5600x and 3060, but it does leave me loads of space to upgrade in a few years.)
whats a good psu for a 3700x and a 3070
amp 650w, a-gf 650w, revo d.f. 850w, or those models at different wattages.
those are just nice PSUs for the price
someone recommended it to me
why there so many psu and why does it feel like there overly complicated
Because why not
ikr
Budget?
Imo corsair 4000d airflow
