3090 is one of the easier to get cards tbh. Even scalpers often aren't over 3k on the ones that are almost 2k retail.
Reason being: not many people actually need a 3090. It's awful price/performance and only a small upgrade over 3080.

Nvidia has more features for the same or better price as AMD. Performance in normal game rendering (not raytracing) is very similar between them right now.
It's also a lot easier to find an nvidia card, since AMD desktop GPUs are limited in production right now. They're also supplying all major consoles right now.

that implies that more fps is more important than realistic visuals to the user. for someone that plays fps games on low pushing max fps thats probably the case, but I prefer hyperrealistic visuals and mainly play story focused single player games where a stable 60+ fps is more than fine.
"Beautiful, realistic aesthetics" is very important to many people. Anything that makes them look better is not a gimmick to that playerbase.
cyberpunk at 4khdr with rtx on psycho was a very nice experience, I would not have enjoyed the game if I played it how it looked with rtx off and lower settings.

I bought a pre-built a few months ago that has a 2080 Super in it. Would it be worth swapping it with a 3070? I don't think there is a huge difference in performance, but I could probably sell the 2080 for as much as the 3070 costs...
