ya know, nvidia
And have the advantage of dlss 3 over 3090ti
dlss 3 is eh rn, lots of artifacts
Yes
but it'll get better over time
It's still in it's infancy
Like dlss 1 should get better
yep
Hard to say if it needs to be DLSS3.X or DLSS4 to be better tho. One of the main issues is also latency, which doesnt seem like an easy fix.
But yeah until Gotham knights came my 10400f felt like a beast to me I thought I could go upto a 3090ti
dlss 3 so far only benefits high fps
cause it adds latency
low fps you're not gonna have a great time
and artifacts that can be hidden with low frametimes
Plus those AI frames can be a little garbled, which is more noticeable at low fps
Depends on the game
While I do have hopes for Frame gen, I still think it might be a while before it's worth it for most future Ada+ users
im still fascinated how ow2 still lacks dlss 2
RTX 4090 reviewed against the RTX 3080 12GB: Is the extra money worth it? The RTX 3080 12GB can provide a very good 1440p experience, and even does well at 4K. But the RTX 4090 is at a whole new level of performance. Is it worth it? Let's look at some apples to apples comparisons as well as looking at what sorts of realistic graphics settings (i...
He said in requiem dlss 3 felt fine but in spider man it did not
It's also interesting to see that they got DLSS 3.0 working on 2000 series GPUs. It seems to be a simple software toggle.
Nvidia reps say otherwise
it legit hurts perf tho, according to the guy who did it
more fps but it drops more
high but inconsistent
ofc they do, they don't want to have the overhead of needing to support more GPUs and they're trying to sell it as a "4000 only" feature so you buy that instead of used 3000
And will never be good with latency and artifacts tho. Only just barely possible (with quality) rn with Ada lol
Right because it's not optimized for 2000
Turing has a barely functional OFA compared to Ampere or Ada
Hwub described how high fps with high latency feels kind of weird
The latency should improve over time as they train the AI and mature the system
nvidia either doesn't bother optimizing it for the different hardware
or just probably being malicious
Probably a little of column A and B
No the RT cores even on the 3090 ti are garbage by comparison to the new gen
Sadge
With rt at psycho and dlss at quality I had overhead for even higher rt settings
This was a really cool comparison for RT
Doing a copy/paste of my frame gen writeup @livid idol @vital oriole
There are two main issues with Ampere properly running realtime frame generation for DLSS3. The data pipeline from the Tensor cores to the OFA and the Tensor throughput.
Ada has Tensor/OFA FFUs that allow a proper data pipeline between the Tensor cores and the OFA. That allows Ada to use the Tensor cores and then the OFA in the same clock cycle while previous generations would take tens of thousands of clock cycles to do the same. First issue is that Ampere and older cant get the Tensor data to the OFA after its done its calculations in the same clock cycle or without software help which results in a fair few clock cycles. The data also needs to be organized and blocked out which requires more software help and many more clock cycles.
Ada is also the only architecture to have a high enough Tensor throughput to do per frame sequencing. This is mostly due to the fact that Ada uses FP8 (8bit floating point) for faster calculations. The OFA doesnt require extremely accurate data, but does require moderately accurate FP16 data. Ada is the only consumer architecture to have FP8 logic units in the Tensor cores, and a FFU (Fixed Function Unit) to transform the FP8 data to FP16 data (the Transformer Engine). So both Turing and Ampere dont have a shortcut for Tensor throughput when running the OFA.
Lastly to talk about Turing, it's also just has a way worse OFA. It's near non-existent, lots of missing featuresets which are even described in the OFA SDK documentation. Also much slower then Ampere.
6900xt doing worse rt then a 3070 tier gpu
aha
With RT maxed out yeah
Look how the A770 does there though
Seems like everyone needs a 4090
nah, any 40 series will be able to run dlss 3
Until you realize there's few games that support these features
Cyberpunk does that's enough for me
Fair enough. It's an individual choice after all.
But really I'd go for something lower tier like a 4080 at most
Oh and let's not forget the 3Dmark RT test
Need to put in more data here, but some data I put up (I did name Hardware Unboxed as Unboxed Box by accident tho lol)
Also need to remove the duplicate games and pick what is most GPU limited
Just look at percentage numbers for RT perf
In this case it's because Intel did a better job with their first gen RT cores than AMD did
Depends on DXR implementation, also Intel settings as they did a big bad for "cheating" benchmark scores
"Teach to the test" leaked its way into hardware ig
Optimize the F out of those drivers if the benchmark is detected lol
Yes makes somewhat enthusiast buyer feel like they got a very good deal
Then they open a game and the performance doesn't really scale up
lows dont seem to have very good improvement regardless of what is bottlenecking in the bench's i saw for the 4090s
interesting thats the case
Even the lows seem higher then the 3090ti average
idk, besides the marked up cards and specialty cards selling slower, it also seems like there are more 3090's going on sale and stuff on newegg. hopefully a good sign
ill be able to buy a 4090 soon
there have been restocks just not much on newegg
i guess
The issue with newegg is the bots are optimized so well they've completed checkout before you have time to load the page and see it's in stock
Dont know if they can complete checkout that fast but they can check availability, add to cart, and get to checkout by the time a standard person finishes refreshing a page. Also worth noting many bot developers dont know how to do that.
hm, the little yellow box that says out of stock description is not showing on the msi gaming 4090 i will take that as a sign from above
2x 3090 still is #1 on 3D mark.
but NVLink + SLI is dead.
cause 4090 is only 70% better than a single 3090
maybe 4090ti will top this time
😛
imiagine 4090s on sli
sick work
hey my buddy is selling a gtx 1080 for 120$(CAD) is it worth the deal or no
For 6900xt how much psu i need so that it wont have any transient issues
I think that's a worthwhile deal
what does the 1080 compare to
in what way? I just did a quick scan of other 1080's on used sites, most coming in at about $150 - $200
Against amd version or later generations?
performance wise
Maybe 2070
between a 2060 and 2070
Just know rt is out of the question 4 1080
4 high fps stick to 1440p. The newer games can be very demanding at 4k
Depending on the gpu, 1080p
If you care about high fps, stick to 1080p for anything below 3060 ti and 6700xt. Even those are viable options for 1080p
6800xt/3080 though is excessive lol
this depends more on how good the psu can handle transients than just wattage, a higher rated supply (Ie gold or platinum) would handle the transient spikes better overall
Im getting the gf1 850w gold
Is that enough
what is your cpu?
Getting 5700x
I think that should be a good psu
My friend just got be worried after showing me the video on 6900xt transient voltage
yeah, spikes are rough
with the 5700x being a 65W part psu has plenty of overhead
The same friend say i should go 1000 or 1200w psu
no
nah
850W is already compensating pretty hard for any transients
Only reason to get that would be 3090+
you could do it on even 750W
Better just 850w just in case
Yeah 750w is more iffy also usually not much more for 850w
Plus it cost around the same price as 750
to put it into perspective, 6900XT transients iirc are like some, north of 500W, 600W maybe? And you couple that with a 65W chip, even unlocked at like 140W max you still have a lot of headroom. You're fine.
Bit dont my nvme ssd, sata ssd, hdd plus wifi pci and kyeboard and mouse, wired controller alao takes power as well as the 214xt and case fans?
yes but an almost negligible amount really
would say easily under 20W
and additionally PSU's like the GF1 will handle going a bit over 850W as well before it turns off
and additionally again
unless all you use is power viruses on your PC 24/7
you're not going to be getting unrealistically close to 850W anyway
Thanks
Wouldn't surprise me if a 6900xt was fine on a good 650w
I'd be more surprised if it had issues with a low power cpu on a 650w than if it didn't
Do I use three different 8 pin connectors connectors for my gpu or am I supposed to have 1 that has 3 x 8 ?
3 different connectors
What in a game, controls whether the ram on a video card is used, instead of the ram on the motherboard?
the amount of vram needed for the settings used
games will allocate vram until there's none available, then it'll access dram
so if you want to use less vram, use a lower resolution or worse graphics settings
means less data will need to be cached for the gpu
so therefore vram needs go down
Thanks Felix. Been making mods a long time, and never bothered to even look into this, as I always went with whatever the game was set to use, yet some of my Starbound mods, like stacking and no decay, take a lot of memory, so am starting to look into doing adjustments through the mod, not the game.
Also, past older games that need manual resolution changes, I was a bit lazy and used HRC resolution changer. Fastest way to make changes, without having to look them up.
Hmm
Can u not send pictures in here?
Was wondering if these cords I have would work for my new graphics card I’m getting or if I would need to buy some
They say vga on them the top one is a 8 pin then middle of cord is a 6+2 pin then the bottom is a 6
You need to chat for a bit until your name turns green for pics to work
do i wait til the amd 7000 gpu announcement, wait to black friday or buy now
for 6900xt
Black Friday won't have sales on new gen stuff, it never does
But AMD cards are looking spicy

TL;DR AMD might win in pure raster fps but Nvidia is still ahead in ray tracing and other features. AMD 7900XT is also going to be only 350W.
Huh
i meant on the 6000 series not the new stuff
At least wait til announcement imo
Still unlikely to be much lower
I think announcement of the new 7000 stuff and their prices will cause rx 6000 to drop too
They're really low already. Maybe the higher end stuff.
Yeah like the 6900xts which they want
Nv wins in ray tracing
Amd :
I mean it is getting harder and harder to brush off lack of RT tho. They have new internal featuresets so it'll be much better then their previous design, but still dont know how much better. Im hoping at least Ampere or better but idk.
Yeah with UE5 having features that make it really easy to make RT enabled games we're going to see more of those pretty quick.
For this reason I feel nvidia will age better if you're looking for a long term investment
Esp given the R&D Nvidia is doing for optimizing RT on the software side. They've made huge improvements over the last 10 months I think it is? Tho that'll be a while before getting to a game (will prolly be a bit before even getting into a professional rendering engine lol)
There is only a few UE5 games out. We need a open world game that actually show us what UE5 can really do
what UE5 games are these ? i dont see a single one
Notably Fortnite is converting to UE5 https://gamerant.com/all-confirmed-unreal-engine-5-games/
Ark 2 hypeeee
Today I wanted to do my intitial testing of the Intel Arc A750 GPU in the game that came bundled with it- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. However, both trying to use the GPU to make the video, as well as even trying to download the free game from Intel's website turned into a disaster.
My system:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X https://amzn.to/3a6NZTO
Co...
Arc still seems pretty frustrating to use

people want more competition in the gpu field, yet they throw crap at intel arc at every turn....
like they cant remember when amd was like that not so long ago
and amd was far far behind compared to what intel achieved in such a short span of time
thats why not really recommended for your average household
until they get some very basic things in control
well, once you see into the driver mess you will realize is not as basic as you think
but, they are improving at an incredible speed, i mean, trying to go toe to toe vs a 3070 is quite the achievement
soo vrr was not working which can be a big deal breaker for some people
intel themselves are comparing it to a 3060 where did 3070 come from
this is probably one of the bigger wins for them
but how the arc control acts like a fullscreen game and a lot other described in the video seems quite frustrating to me
still arc gpus are cheap, if you can cope with the shortcomings then, at the very least, those are capable gpus
you can buy one for your kids as an example, cheap and capable card for fortnite
intel own designed they smashed it with the rgb light bar design all around
nice diffusion

yes
its looking great
2x raster performance sounds pretty incredible to me, as a 2080super user.
@fading glacier glad I didn't pick the neptune, I don't like the IRL look at all
That's....not white that block
I mean, suprim is silver, but that neptune block looks very white in preview lol
Just a bit sadge
ye
It probably looks fine in an all white build
imagine paying 13K for a car and expecting white but it turns up grey
Same feeling
lame
not even silver, looks grey
and the tubes coming up and not from the side as the waterfroce mmmmm no like
at this point my only interest would really be this:
https://evatech.com.au/img/p/4/8/2/3/5/48235-thickbox.jpg
it kinda looks like those fittings can come off and reuse the block but maybe that's just me

Would this be a correct cord for my gpu ?
Yes the single 8 pin will go to your psu and the other two ends to your gpu
thanks i kinda forgot havent put a gpu in my pc for awhile
I mean is pump in block? Might cause some issues.
When compared to good GPU block
You could find a used 3080 for that price, or if you want new a 6750 XT that will crush the 3060. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XZmmP6/powercolor-radeon-rx-6750-xt-12-gb-red-devil-oc-video-card-axrx-6750xt-12gbd6-3dheoc
6750 XT is about 40% better than the 3060 in gaming
oh i see i see
thanks
oh but it costs 613€ on amazon.de
i guess i will stick to the 3060
That would have been good to mention, that you weren't in the US
Did ya see his name?

croat*
I've seen Americans use Japanese characters in their name
it's just a font💀
I mean true. Look at your name.
And pfp ig
How many euros are you trying to keep it under @remote patrol?
If it's the 450 then this https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BCL3L6ZG
okay
Just saw an article about someone getting an RTX box with weights? Would be funny in the near future of the next article being about some theft ring getting shut down, because the theif stupidly plugs that card in and uses it.
They can't tell that the stolen card is being used remotely....
I'm actually surprised no such article has already been done. You would think by now, with just about every hardware part being traceable, the moment a PC is turned on, such would be caught.
No that would be a huge intrusion first of all and secondly unnecessary increasing price etc
The only way they're traceable is manually threw the part number
Doesn't Microsoft do that already with windows? Record the serial number? The same system that records info so it knows it's the same system after a format, without the bother of entering a key ever again.
That, again, would be a huge intrusion. Like, illegal if they were to provide that information on someone's system to anyone.
Other than someone who has a warrant.
Also, windows only takes your mobo into account for this AFAIK.
The only thing is if a commercial key is being used suspiciously but that is detected during activation
They take graphics card as well. I know this because my old technet license transfered to my new PC at some point when I made a second emergency boot drive.
And the only part from my Z390 I moved to the Z690 was my RTX.
Yeah but having a different gpu in doesn't stop you from activating windows.
Oh, and the boot drive plays a part.
So not a single hard drive was plugged in whatsoever?
No. No Spindle drives what so ever. I added those days later.
Did you have a local or Microsoft Windows account tho
The portable I used to install windows caused an issue on one PC, because I forgot to disconnect it on my daughter's new PC, but Microsoft did an overide for me
Oh well if you kept the same windows install then that would do it to 🤣
I have had a technet and Microsoft account, a good 18 years now.
I have no idea what technet is
So.. your Microsoft account is most likely the cause of all that stuff transferring over. Especially since you set up your windows connected to internet.
About 6 years ago,Microsoft ended the technet program. Programmers like myself, would pay a $600 fee each year, and it got us just about five of each Microsoft product. Full versions, with keys.
Whats this?
I have IDE mothballed. The old pin drives. Lately, ever since I fell in love with the NVME drives, I sorta call the SATA slow spindles. They seriously drag down my computers speed if I leave them connected
Integrated development environment e.g. visual studio (code)
Is Microsofts one, it's my fav
Oh. This i think this is what I used in prison to code websites.
Visual studio, was one of the few not offered with technet.
It's like notepad++ yeah?
Uhh yes but it lets you run and compile your code
Right.
I love Notepad++. Thanks for reminder, I need to reinstall that lol.
Get vsc
Its wayyyy better than notepad
Visual Studio better? I'll give it a shot. Never tried to load it off an NVME, and off a spindle, it loaded to slow for my taste.
Loaded fast enough on HDD in the prison. Will be fast as heck on nvme
I use VS for rAythena, ServeUO and forgot the older mods I made with it. Been a while
I couldn't imagine coding with notepad++ now that I've used vsc
I never used notepad++ to code. Only edit and compare config files for games and servers.
Vs code is great
I was introduced to notepad++ like almost 10 years ago, when I was working on a mod that required me to edit the load list, kept failing, because using Notepad did something to the file to mess it up, so the developer sent me a link to notepad++ which worked better at the time.
Pretty irksome. Can't even recall what it was. I didn't even know of Steam games back then.
Idk toooooo much about notepad++ but with vsc, you can have multiple files open in 1 window that'll let you compare a lot easier.
Sounds like notepad++ with multiple tabs. Only thing annoying about it is when you want a separate window, for comparison. I found myself many a times having to load it in the first window, then tell it to open in another.
It never let me open a second one until it loaded in the first
Ultima Online, that was the game!!!
Knew I'd figured it out.
Brb
Oh you can def load multiple vsc windows.
Yeah vsc has tabs like np++
The 4079 12gb would've just about matched a 3090 ti, if they didn't unlanch it it would've been a 3090 ti with less vram at nearly twice the price you can find a 3080 12gb for used with 10% worse perf lmao
Idk what they were thinking with that
4080's cards at 2k incoming! D: nvidia what have you done!
at least 3 days for the amd reveal date 😄
4069 12GB, don't forget that is perfing like 61% of 4090.
should*
It prolly will sell for >600
Since the 6950XT is a large card AMD gave brackets to help with GPU sag, but the adhesive really sucks I had to super glue the bracket to the case
How much was the 5950xt?
out of curiosity compared to a 1650 i currently have would it be an upgrade if i put in a AMD Rx 580?
$800
Nice.
Its less than 100 percent difference. I would get any of the amd 6000 series if u r looking at amd

This testing is for PCIe generations on the NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU. We're benchmarking PCIe 3.0 x16 vs. PCIe 4.0 x16 vs. PCIe "5.0" x16 (but the 4090 doesn't support 5.0, so it's just 4.0 -- still worth showing for educational purposes). Remember that PCIe 3.0 x16 is equal to PCIe 4.0 x8,...
LOL
Saw this result from a mile away
TL;DR ||Gen 3 barely affects the card, it would've barely benefitted from gen 5||
Beat me to it lol
Just wait until PCMR Reddit gets a hold of the outlier and say that gen3 to gen4 gives 18% more perf, then demand for gen5 on 4090.
What mobo uses pci 5 anyways
Probably cost like at least 300
I mean, for 12th gen it's just the main slot for the lower end
Some asus boards deck in gen 5 like maximus ones
Or strix
Those are expensive yeah
Plus using ddr5 ram
Yeah on those, but there are ddr4 boards too
Wont 4090 suffer some bottleneck issues on pci 2?
Yes, but 3090 won't
Wait
LOL
Numbers are too close together

3090 was proven to work on gen 2 just fine, and going by raw performance, a 4090 should be fine in a gen 3 system like intel 10th gen for example
If you wanted to use a 10900K at 4K with a 4090, it would be feasible
Plus when 40 series and amd 7000 series gpus drop we would have repeat of 2020 so many bots
2020 won't really repeat the same way
Before we had scalpers and crypto. Crypto is now officially dead
Thank god 4 that
Maybe it'll have a resurgence later but def not rn
40 series its a bit out of my price range. And i cant wait that long 4 a gpu lol
Just wait for current gen stuff to come down
That's all still powerful
6900XT's 3080 12gb and all that are still great for 1440p
All the way down to 1080p with RX6600's and 3060's
I probably buy my 6900xt as soon the 6000 amd gpus get announced. Im afraid they get sold out
Hey I got a question if anyones got an answer can I use one pci-e cable for my gpu that requires me to have two connections
this feels like a dumb question and I've asked a bit ab this
But like, may a % or an amount of fps on avg over a sum of games, how much better does the 6600 perform over the 570
you can, but it's better safety to use two cables vs one cable with two connectors

I don’t have two cables it only has 1 pci-e cable
2 connectors?
it's hard to say one and done how much better but that should give a context of range
Yes
if you're still unsure, look up time spy scores for each gpu
I guess, j trying to gague the worthitness
that'll work
at first I was j going to upgrade cause the 6600 is more pwer efficient, and being a bit faster, but
I can just undervolt my 570, whilist ocing
and probably be not that far out of reach
6600 will still be a good deal faster than a 570
how much is a good deal tho is what im tryna figure out
Thanks for the help
using time spy results the pinned sheet translates the same, the raw performance is about 2x better
oh 💀
time spy imo is not perfect but it's very close to true average performance
You can also look up benchmarks on YT
this is true but
eh I'd still rely on Time spy scores imo
I didn't find any direct comparisons from reliable sources, and of course, look at one from a reliable source, look at another from the same source, but then thats like
a year apart, where driver changes probably most def happened, and stuff
I've been finding myself getting a pretty clear snapshot of raw performance using that one benchmark before reviews even come out of new cards
I'd shoot for a 6650xt
Though personally I'd upgrade cpu first
they want the most power efficient they can get
3000g not good
Pl a 6550xt
💸 doing not so great atm, tis why I want to make sure the jump to the 6600 would be worth it at all over just oc/undrv my 570
how much are either used rn, if they've even really hit used market yet
Not sure
another reason I'm going for gpu first is
Depends specifically on your location
ie: a game I [try to 💀] play compet, locks fps to refresh rate
but only 60hz suffers major input lag, my monitor has 75hz, but I cant use it cause its buggy on my hdmi to dvi adapter [dvi-d only 570, prolly a miner card]
i rather get gpu asap before it sell out with black friday
If more companies took advantage of the abilities these new cards have, I might have purchased one. Most of the projects I work on, are basically Terraria and Ultima clones, none of which IMHO, take advantage of RTX. Only reason I got the ones my family owns now, is the depth they added to Minecraft. When I start working on my own game, I'll consider upgrading if I see enough out there, worth the investment for me
Are these $400 24gb RTX imports any good?
I'll grab an image when I check the system out tomorrow.
6700 xt has maybe 10 percent better performance.
10-15 fps is big actually, but if you want to save it's not too bad i guess
it seems like a weird middle part
sort of the kind of card where you should either step down to the 6650 xt or step up to the 6700 xt
(us pricing)
Nobody talks about base 6000 series gpu. Only the xt versions
rx 6600 i hear discussed a lot tho
Problem with 6700 is that it got released later without any big announcements and reviewers weren't sent a sample afaik
6600 and 6800 were released normally and have a decent amount of reviews
oh just that? alr
alr
@wicked hound you'd be interested in this graph
Total die/cuda count for each card across each gen
Ye, basically what I have but visualized. Not amazing by itself tho cuz CUDA count isnt the entire picture for perf in the respective generation
Well 3060 vs 2070s sums it up
3060 on paper has much more cores but still seems to be a bit slower
perf comparisons are suppose to be intergenerational
If X card has Y% SMs of the top end card of its generation, it'll perf Z% of that top end card (also need to consider mem bandwidth, plus a little bit of core freq).
Basically context needs to be explained for that graph, cant be posted out of context.
This word sums up the graph
Ye, but still more explanation is ideal, else it can easily spread misinformation. Lots of people dont really know how to read that graph and understand what it means for perf.
But still interesting to see someone else did what I did but visualized
Indeed
Well I don't mean it in a way that it's the whole picture, just more fuel for all the statistical data you've been working on

Also 4090 HoF - 28+4, 80A or higher
As expected of a card for xoc tho
Getting proper perf data is really what I want to do next. But it's so time consuming cuz there isnt any easy way to scrape said data, it's all in video or image format
It was insanely apparent for the 4090, where many reviewers said average perf was 40% - 55% uplift from 3090 due to non-GPU limited scenarios messing up the data (closer to 73% from 3090 in GPU limited scenarios).
ok tryna look closer at the pcb, I believe the HOF is still using the same 80A VRM. Beefiest VRM by far (Obviously) but my money is it's still 80A
probably one of the biggest lead for the 4090 i have seen
Hay means the other skus incoming
But also existing SKUs. Lots of GPU data gets hecked by low occupancy workloads, always been a thing with new GPU releases.
Usually not to this degree tho
Based on my quickly compiled data, Resident Evil Village had the most uplift in raster with 2.01x/1.74x 3090/3090Ti perf (WD:L is 1.76x/1.64x 3090/3090Ti perf)
Highest perf uplift I've seen for raster
on a related note some sites here are already starting to jack 4090 prices
I'm kinda glad I got in early, saw that coming
Availability isnt great at launch, usually normal
Oh it's more the inflation here
it's out of control
groceries cost 2x more than they did on average just over a year ago
It'll prolly be fine mid-end of Q1 2023
well, MSRP "fine"
Also yeah, generally gotta do lot more hunting for grocery deals now-a-days or else you pay a million USD for a gram of low quality beef.
pretty much
how come my gpu isnt that hot sometimes when its above 90% utilization but gets fairly hot othertimes while staying around 60% utilization?
Varying intensity of a given workload
Some things are harder to compute by nature
For example, Intel designed and later killed the intense AVX 512 partly because it was using so much extra power and producing so much more heat
Also different utilities calculate utilization differently. Task Manager does it based off current clocks, so if GPU is running in 2D clocks then it's easy to get 100% utilization.
plus ambient room temperature
some gpus kick the fans at 60c, so on full utilization the gpu is warmer, but on idle is borderline 60c
cause the fans are off
and the case is warm
Yeston has a 3060 12gb for $210 rn
Check this out on @Newegg: Yeston RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 LHR Graphics cards Nvidia pci express x16 4.0 video cards Desktop computer PC video gaming graphics card https://www.newegg.com/yeston-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-rtx-3060ti/p/1FT-007N-00069?Item=9SIAZUEHCM8909&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-9SIAZUEHCM8909-_-11022022
I think it's some kind of screw up
Hyperlink says 3060ti, and $210 is like
Well, what they should be at this point
But well under what they've been at
sold out
was OOS now IS but $500

Did they announce anything on the 7800? Im busy at work
7900xtx 1k
7900xt 900
Nvidia :

There's no way a 7900XT would lose to the 4080 16gb, it's supposedly close to the 4090, for cheaper than the 4080. Nvidia only has the feature advantage now.
This pretty much lines up with what I heard on the rumor mill. AMD saw Nvidia pushing 600W and said "if you want it that bad you can have it, but there is a cost".
8 seconds · Clipped by steviejoe66 · Original video "AMD Presents: together we advance_gaming" by AMD
7900 XTX $999 and under 400 watts
damn
cant wait to see lower spec cards
with the price points that the 7900xt and 7900xtx are at whats the prediction for the prices of 7700xt - 7800xt
I'd guess 7800xt 800-750 and 7700xt 650-500?
though I'd guess midrange and lower end really depend on what Nvidia puts out
probably a 7800 non xt in between
if 7700xt beats or matches a 3080 in the 500-600$ range that would be so nice
Yeah last gen used prices and availability are going to make this gen pricing interesting
so glad AMD pulled through this generation, sapphire nitro+ always been my favorite cards
holly molly
amd stomped nvidia
and that sync between amd cpus and gpus give a ryzen build some merit
61 tflops of raw power at 1k usd... daaaaamn
beats the 49 tflops of the 4080 and much cheaper
3060Ti/3090 have 16.20/35.58 FP32 tflops and 3060Ti has 45.5%/~58% tflops/raster of 3090 (mismatch in linear[?] tflops to perf in an intergenerational comparison).
6950XT/3090 have 23.65/35.58 FP32 tflops and are near same perf (mismatch in tflops to perf in a differing architecture comparison).
tflops arent an easy thing to get perf data from.
What's impressive is the apparent 2x IPC increase
i really dont have the cash for the 7900 cards rn. but a 6900xt still good 4 me. any 6000 series gpu is a huge increase in performance coming from a rx560
yeah i figure the new cards, both AMD and Nvidia, will allow me to get a 6800 XT maybe a lil cheaper lol
probably buy my card next week due 4 fear they run out during black friday
everything else in my build could wait
dont think old gen will run out even on black friday
remember that bfriday is usually filled with overpriced items to appear as "bargain" that day
they raise prices one or two weeks in advance
7900XTX impressed me today
It was enough of an uplift, and they decided to do the good thing and keep the price
Looking like Ampere/Navi 2x all over again
maybe with time it will match the 4090
6900xt aged like fine wine and matched the 3090 in a lot of games at 1440p at the end
the perf uplift they showed in the presentations is not enough from a 6950xt to catch a 4090 tho
fair
And boasting figures that could make parity with 4090 anyway
but yk matching the best gpu would create some mindshare for them
Again, doesn't need to match, just needs parity
The pricing is quite good hope the stock is plenty as well
Probably the option I would go for
Reference looks really nice
Nvidia still has the feature set advantage. It's looking like the 6900XTX will beat the 4080 16GB while being cheaper, but only in pure raster. Throw RT into the mix and it's a wash, Nvidia across the board.
Still very compelling regardless, 200 less for pure gaming performance
I do feel like that's going to chip away at team green on that one
What's concerning is that it doesnt look like AMD even got to Ampere RT perf. Slowly falling behind more and more is not a great sign.

AMD just announced their RDNA3 GPUs and dang.. the RX 7900XT and RX 7900 XTX look amazing for gamers.
Discuss on the forum: https://linustecht...
Ngl, the graphs in this are a neat idea for a snapshot at possible performance
To say it's well within 10% at $600 less is gonna look excellent for them
If that's how it really plays out
If the 4090 is still somehow sold out by the time 7900 xtx releases I'll definitly be kicking it to the curb
Already upset I haven't been able to buy one by this point with the supposedly incredible stock
Not worrying about house burning down is also a bonus
Amd looking nice
I feel most people gunning for ray tracing would be gunning for an nvidia card anyways though
At least currently
just let them 😄 if they can find one ofc
for now 7900xtx seems on paper an awesome card for the price, able to almost match 4090 on raster at 1k is more than enough for me
Mhm, very impressive especially if it's actually 400w without spikes
and not with that horrible hvpwr adapter
355W for the reference model
amd went in hard and fast
still 100 less vs the fe card
Yep
aibs could go as high as 400, dont think they will go anymore
and 3 pcie connectors 🙂
there are plus everywhere on the 7900xtx and the only con is the rt performance
the 4090 is the complete opposite
cons everywhere and the only plus is rt
There could be more cons we don't know about yet, like stability issues with the new MCM

There are potential benefits to using 7000 with 7000 using 7000 graphics to accelerate 7000 graphics
Every previous attempt has fallen flat but hey it's only insanity if you expect a different result right?
indeed, that sync thing seem like a desperate sale point for the ryzen cpus, could work... if it works
productivity programs love cuda tho
That's the whole reason I want an A380 is for the AV1
Once Plex figures out how to leverage that 4k transcode will be a breeze
nvenc no more
seems like av1 will start to be available on some platforms next month
amd timed very well the launch date
Tbf it's just Nvidias adapter that's had issues, afaik corsair and cable mods have no issues
A couple others have reported melted cables, not just early FE ones.
Iirc tho nv was sending their fe ones to aib partners
It's primarily nvidia's adapter but others can have problems too
And new revisions of the FE adapter seem to be different so it was likely a pre-production QC issue
But yeah i still don't see how less 12v power is supposed to be able to pull 600w
16awg cables can handle 100W each no issue, it's the connector that's always been the limit there
The limit and the failure point for that matter
Oh we've got a report of a native 12VHPWR connector burning
Seems legit from pics
2,405 votes and 843 comments so far on Reddit
At least the GPU itself seems salvageable
indeed pato, you are right, is the nvidia adapter the culprit here, we cant blame the third party mods yet.
still sad for nvidia to void the warranty of a 1600 expensive card if you use a mod adapter
the 4080 launch will be full of criticism... should be next week im guessing
They did a similar thing with mining but like they can't tell unless you tell them
They're going to ask though, and people that don't know will be voiding their own warranty by answering honestly
Have yet to see any proof that cable adapters void warranty. It's only a statement (recommendation) in the manual of what to do, nothing more.
why arent the cables burning on the 30 series? dont they use the same connector?
mostly cause the quality of the solder work
on the new adapters
flimsy solder pads can crack easily while bending thus making false contact between the pad and the cable and that will produce resistance, resistance to heat and heat to melting plastic
worse yet, with the heavy insulation over the soldered part you can only guess if yours is working ok or if its already cracked inside because a little bending is enough to crack the solder if you had the bad luck to get one badly soldered

Me am sadge
Stupid question, how do I make my gpu use 120w in every gaming session?
By making the game always ridiculously diffficult to run
Always loading shaders always new scenes, stupid stuff like that
In other words you don't need it to run 120W all the time, just try and target 100% utilisation (not the same thing)
Turn settings up if it's under 100%
You need to monitor it to see if it isn't
Tho it's a 120W card, you'll probably be running near 100% 1080p most of the time
I increased power limit at 20% and not always
Sounding like an RX6600
It is
Again, power consumption not relevant to full 100% usage
so set it to 98?
A gpu adjusts it's power draw based on the dynamic load
Oh
I wonder why my frames are low
Maybe I need to do a clean install on my drivers
Turn settings down if low fps
It's just that I thought this card was pretty strong
Battlefield 1 for example
I thought I would at least get more than 120fps in Medium settings but that doesn't seem to be the case on my end
Yes
If a series S could likely do it then surely a 6600 could be within spitting distance of that
Right now I'm reinstalling drivers

"...$999 card is not a 4090 competitor, which costs 60% more, this is a 4080 competitor." https://youtu.be/jKWwMY2qvlo?t=518

It's inbetween. 4090 is ~174% raster perf of 3090 and 4080 is 75% raster perf of 4090, which puts 4080 at 131% raster perf of 3090. The 6950xt is just above the 3090, putting the 4080/4090 ~130%/~172% raster perf of the 6950xt. AMD only had three comparative raster tests showing 150%, 150%, and 170% of the 6950xt (they also gave a lot of raw FPS numbers which many people tried extrapolate to current hardware, but that is a very bad way to compare hardware due to different test environments). I'll consider the 7900XTX 155% of 6950XT for the time being, which puts it right in the middle of the ~130%/~172% perf points mentioned previously.
That's a ton of guesses and mental gymnastics. The leaked 4080 16GB game and synthetic benchmarks are all over the place and anywhere from 31% faster to 57% faster(without DLSS) than the 3090 depending on the benchmark or game. Some of the leaks also show the 3080 16GB consistently maintaining 3+ GHz through benchmarks and running much cooler than the 4090(of course it would) which helps maintain higher clocks. At this point, you can't make any semi accurate guesses until all the cards are released and independently benchmarked.
I59600k and 16gb of ram
You have xmp enabled? Also 9600k is showing it's age a fair bit tbh
Yeah
The leaked 4080 16GB game and synthetic benchmarks are all over the place...
Ah yes, all over the place. That's why there is only one outlier out of the many tests compared to the 4090...
Your image there shows the 4080 16 GB scores anywhere from 50% to 90% of the 4090's performance. Sure, most of them are in the 70ish% to 80ish% of the 4090 range, but we don't have detailed info about them or actual full release drivers. That's why we have to wait for accurate and reliable benchmarks.
It's more then enough to know the rough estimate however. Not like the 4080 will perf 25% of the 4090 given this data
There is still not enough data to say how the 4080 16GB will perform compared to the 7900 XTX. Especially when some of the things AMD was showing in the presentation(hitting FPS cap in certain games at 1440p) can be achieved with a 3090 ti.
There is enough data on Nvidia's side to know how GPUs will stack up roughly in mid - high occupancy workloads. There is however barely any on AMDs side, which is why I stuck with a conservative assumption.
What is with Newegg and their weird pricing of the 50 variants of the 6000 series GPUs?
Wdym?
Battlefield games are known to be pretty CPU heavy so that could be part of the issue
If you put all your settings at low and the fps is still around the same you might be cpu bottlenecked
Or lower your resolution
I'm playing in 1080p
Interesting stuff. MPO apparently the issue with multimonitor "lag" from varying refreshrates.

I recently put a pc together, RTX 3080, Ryzen 7 5800X, MSI B550 pro vdh Wi-Fi and a 750 gold certified psu but I’m currently not getting any display output, and the VGA light turns on
Are the fans on the GPU spinning?
Have you checked the basics, inserted completely into the slot, power cables connected tight on both ends, hdmi plugged into the gpu and not motherboard?
Yes we have even updated the bios on the motherboard because it’s a 5th gen
5000 series sorry
Intel 13000
Are you using a riser cable on the GPU by chance @lavish rain ?
No, it’s connected directly to the PCie 4.0 slot
PCIe 4000
Try another slot next to help narrow things down
There’s only one
Oh you got the B550M then?
Yes
That limits options a bit. Do you have another computer or GPU to test with?
B55000M
No not any other parts either
I'd say the last thing to try is removing and re-inserting everything, maybe there's a bad contact
I’ve done that countless times but I can try one more
It worked, one of the RAM modules was trash
Glad you figured it out, but sucks to have to send anything back
Is 319 swift 6900xt better than 6900xt phantom gaming?
Which way does air flow for a sapphire toxic to 6900xt cards fan? Does it push air out from the card or pull it in ?
pull it in
Having mine put in a chimney configuration behind the front of my case in a push pull with the cards fan facing towards the back of the case. I thought the aio fans would be blowing air on the back of the card and the cards fan would be blowing that air towards the back. Guy at the pc shop says fan in front pulls air so I am blocking air flow and sending all the hot air up at my cpu rad
push out the sides
Thanks
if you're gaming @vapid bramble , the card sending hot air into the cpu rad is mostly negligible
it's like, 1 to 2C difference irl, negligible
won't make you faster or slower
Thank you. He made it sound like I was melting my rad up there
GN just uploaded a teardown too
that "not 4090" was cool looking imo, i would have tried for one of their 4080 or 4070 models
4080 16gb has what, 56% of the compute cores? Is that what I saw? Pathetic really.
what would be a good pairing for a ryzen 5 5600x
Anything up to a 3090 depending on the resolution really
ah ok
yup, literally any gpu
Worry about the power supply you pair with it, not the gpu with that 5600X in there
i have a corsair rm750
Nice, you're solid for anything
You could pick any gpu you want, just try and pick the cheap ones (bar ventus)
Hell even ventus in a pinch isn't bad just not great
i have 3 gpus in mind, the 3060 12gb, 3060TI and the 3070 (maybe)
any of those will go well
and i want better vr performance (i have a valve index)
im currently using a 2060 oc
ah nice
dont go 3060 12gb
ok
60ti and 70 are almost identical get the cheaper one
3060 12gb is bad compared to the other 2
ah ok
What monitor you have?
a meh one
2 1080p and a 720p vertical monitor
1080p@ what fps
60
60hz

yea
Yeah 3060Ti and no higher, would consider a budget monitor like a G24F as well to go with it
Or do RX 6600XT/6650XT
And use the extra to get a nice monitor
If you want to
i just wanna stick with nvidia because im just used to it
Ok
i have a valve index and that runs at like 4k i think lol
If you're only short vram maybe a used 2080 instead
well from the website im using it seems like to 80 is more expensive
im using pc part picker
Nah you need to check around in places like r/hardwareswap
Used 2080 should be somewhere in the range of 300 usd
Probably less
ah, ide wanna get it new because ide have a warranty
Ah
plus i wouldnt know if the previous owner was using it for mining and maxing it out
Former miners who sell it are generally selling better cards
They take care of the card properly
Clean it, service it, run it in a controlled environment
everything depends on the guy that used it
yea
I would trust a miner bulk selling tho
well maintained used mining card is the same as a well maintained used gaming card
As long as the details are legit
any day of the week
it might just be safer to get it new so i think i might just go with the 2060ti
and i might as well get one with 3 fans because you cant have too much cooling lol
3060ti is good
its $470 usd rn
oof
You can get a used 3080 for that 💀
idk if its in good condition or not tho
if you could find me one thats in decent condition then ide totally get it
I can find you a good one, my ebay-fu is decent
is stockx a good website? it seems a little sketchy to me but idk
No
mk
Stock X is a guaranteed scalp to begin with
They do preorders and fulfill them 6 months later
oof
ive been looking on ebay a little and buy it now 2080s are going for a lot and the cheap ones are not working ones
Here's a good one https://www.ebay.com/itm/285030439836
That seller has a lot of cards too for the same price if you want to look at their store
Yep you can post pics/links now too
nice
Do you have a Reddit account with a decent amount of karma?
Cool you can use r/hardwareswap
https://www.reddit.com/r/hardwareswap/comments/yp75md/usatx_h_2_evga_3080_10gb_2_evga_750w_psus_msi/
They have boxes too if that's worth paying a little more
having the box for shipping is nice so you dont have to worry about the packaging
I wouldn't worry about packing when it's from a big, reputable seller personally
Posts go up on hws all the time, a 3080 pops up every few hours. It could be worth getting notifications.
They go just as fast too
If you want to go that route on hws definitely check the sub rules and wiki, they're pretty strict on everything
Helps both the sellers and the buyers avoid scams that way
whats a good ammount of karma? i have 572 karma
mines like 2 years old
Lol when I woke up today I was like hell ya thats a Gigabyte Water-force in stock!
if anyone heres has a 4090, how does dlss 3 look like when u hit 60fps, 144 and 240
Hey
It's better at higher fps because the AI frames are less noticeable, but it is very much a technology in its infancy.

Nvidia’s new DLSS 3.0 promises smoother gameplay by doubling your FPS – But how can it do that, and can its fake frame generation possibly look any good? And...
was lucky enough to get the 4090 suprim liquid, is it great guys?
As long as you don't mind selling your kidneys
haha I used all my saving to buy it
So far, all of the leaked RTX 4080 PCB photos all show 24 Gbps G6X memory modules from Micron. I guess that could mean some great memory overclocking and a good performance boost if its true with the production models.
Is a 6700xt compatible with a 650w
I answered them in #building-and-recc-chat it's a RMx
Between 3080 4 680usd, 6800xt 4 600usd and 6900xt for 670 usd which gpu should i get only gaming pc with 5600 cpu and 32 gig ram
i would do 6900xt if you don't care about dlss
Never had a nvidia card b4
I missed out on the deal yesterday for 6800xt for 516 usd sold out
wtf thays a steal lw
Are Maxsun cards any good or stay away?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
What makes a ZOTAC less expensive than an ASUS card? Other than the popularity of the manufacturer? Quality of the parts used? RGB parts vs none. amount of fans? lol
Often scam cards, you buy a "1050 ti" and it's a 710 in disguise
Is $1900 for a zotac trinity 4090 terrible?
More commonly a gts 450
Are you playing at 4k?
4K 144hz
My friend needs my 3080 for his build and I thought I'd get a 4090 by now
I have been early morning microcenter 8 times no luck
Someone is selling a Trinity model for $1900 locally so I figured I may.
I'm giving my friend my 3080 for $400
It's sealed in box with receipt
Ill do it when I pick it up tomorrow
He's forcing me to pick up at police station anyways so it'll be easy to avoid conflict too
The GPU is kinda 73 miles I doubt anyone will want to come drive with me for that LOL
Make it worth their time lol
Still cheaper for that + gas than the cheapest more local 4090
Microcenter Denver has gotten like no 4090's
Most restock mornings they get 2-5 cards and people start lining up around 5-6 am
One day they only got 2 cards in with like 30-40 of us in line
For 4090 should I plug in all 4 PCIE or should I do just 3?
To do the 4th PCIE I have to remove 1 8 pin from CPU and reallocate that slot
You'll want to plug all 4 in to unlock the full power
Or alternatively get a custom adapter that is still arguably safer like a 3x8 to 16 cablemod
Most importantly make sure the connector is fully seated
Further investigation is revealing that a lot of the cases of melting power has to do with the connector not being all the way in (connector and cables)
It's a really tiny connector, and requires a significant amount of force to be properly inserted
About as big as a 1x8
Then you need to make sure the cables are pushed in too so they make proper contact
This shouldn't have been a problem to begin with... when you design something for the open market it needs to be foolproof
Oh ofc
No one denies that, it's a bad design
But inform the masses and you can avoid more incidents
We'll be seeing this for the 4070 Ti and 4080 too soon
@livid idol
Have had my EVGA RTX 3070 XC3 now for a few months...want a base OC on the card but nothing crazy...recommendations for settings within either EVGA Precision X1 and/or MSI Afterburner?
well max out the core voltage, temp and power limit then go upwards in increments of 15 for core and 100 for memory until you find your max stable
do core and memory separetely
simple
Okay, from my understanding, those utilities, specifically afterburner will only allow the sliders to go to the max settings correct? Only one i've adjusted is power so far and afterburner will only let me take it to 113%..so i'm thinking that it knows what the limit is for the card
yes
Can 6800 do 4k60 gaming
If you keep your expectations in check and dial down some quality settings it can
Or shpuld i get the xt version
Xt version would do much better yes
Xt i wouldnt need to dial down settings much
Too a lesser degree to achieve 4k60
Im just comparing us prices on which gpu 2 get between 6800, 6800xt and 6900xt. Rn the price between 6800xt and 6900xt is less than 100 bucks. All the under 540 6800xt are currently sold out
What's your total budget?
To meet your tall order of 4k60 a 7900xtx would be worth waiting for
1500 to 2000 usd
For only a gpu?
Pc build. Gpu is under 700usd
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-13600K, Radeon RX 6900 XT, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
you could do this now or wait and get a 7900xtx instead of 6900xt
Not really im upgrading from i5-4670k and rx560 2gb
Im more knowledgeable about amd than intel cpus
i dont see how that relates to anything
I prefer amd over intel my bro and friends all have amd cpus they have nothing but good things 2 say about the ryzen series
Plus as long i dont have bottleneck at 4k. I also have a 4k monitor
Have a series x as well
well whatever platform you go make sure gpu is the last thing you skimp on coz 4k is freaking hard to drive
Agreed. 300 for the cpu is a bit much. I rather get a cpu under 200 that works with little bottleneck at 4k
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6900 XT, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
that can be done
Thanks. I rather get 850w psu just in case
thats completely upto you just make sure its a good quality one like that 750 one
Gf1 thermaltake
@oak rivet any reeason why should i not get ryzen 5 5600
pretty good and will get the job done fine
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6900 XT, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
no reason
Thanks
@hasty monolith same list same quality but cheaper
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cpRtqm
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6900 XT, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Do i need the extra fans? Im getting the antec df700.
Not really no, I just polished up the other list, didn't know if you wanted more or not
Don't need them
The anetc has 3 120mm front fans, 1 back fan and bottom fan between gpu and psu blowing to the gpu
Is that good
That's fine
Only thing i worry is the availability of either 6800xt or 6900xt that have the 2 free games amd bundle for the right price lol
Been thinking of getting a 3090 Ti, but with all the problems with the new 4090 and the announcement of the new AMD cards, should I wait a little while? I dont need an upgrade right away, but I am thinking about it
3090 ti not worth unless under $850, id wait for 7900xtx release
$1000 for better than 4080 perf
Well, supposedly. Can't guarantee anything
Alright, sounds good. Thanks my friend
Np. Could also look at used 3080s
$550 for 12% worse than 3090 ti perf
Unless you need 24gb of vram for workstation tasks ig
I currently have a 3080 actually. I am mostly wanting to upgrade mainly cause of some hobbies I have been getting into
Pretty much that
Ahh
Yeah I'd aim for a 4090 as an upgrade, amd cards historically haven't been great for workstation tasks
Or used 3090/ti
Gotcha, my worries with the 4090 is the cable issues I have been hearing and seeing, plus some features just not existing, yet they will on AMD cards
The cable issue is a non issue, taking proper precautions fixes it. Could also get an atx 3.0 psu, I believe those don't have the issue at all
There are some features on 7000 series that are nice. What exactly are you doing?
Been getting into machine learning stuff, and just general things like game developing to give a brief idea
Unless amd made it better with 7000 series, you want a nvidia card
Yea figured as much
6000 series and previous gens have been really bad for machine learning and most workstation tasks
Gotcha, well thanks for your help my friend, its very much appreciated!
Happy to, feel free to ping me or dm me if you need any more help, or just ask here. Plenty of other people who know better than I do as well
Will do, thanks again
microcenter has the prices for the 4080s, daaaaamn son, those are helluva expensive for what they are
How much 2k?
if positive preassure is better than negative preassure, when a build has one fan, why is it always exaust?
bc otherwise the hot air won't be able to leave the case
