if you over expose you can lose detail

• it's not that hard to mask and then just increase exposure

its easier to edit in post than to worry a ton while shooting + then you can have a quicker shutter speed

Edit was just increased exposure, warmer color temperature, slightly higher saturation, reds increased slightly, dehaze, haze added to the highlights.

I think that's all I did for the edit, the 50/50 split was in gimp, I just turned down the opacity of a rectangular mask while having the original image and edited on separate layers

It's pretty complicated. But I was basically using Deep Sky Stacker to stack and Siril to adjust the exposure.

There's a few tutorials out there on youtube, for comets specifically too

Yeah, it's pretty complicated. You have to take light shots, shots with your lens cap on, and some other ones I can't think of right now.

But it's mainly to eliminate noise and hot pixels from the final image, but it's a lot of work

Been testing it for an hour or so, haven't had a chance to look at the files on my PC so not completely sure how the quality is.

But thoughts so far are that it will probably replace my 16mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.8 since it's very versatile, quality looks sharp, with the speed booster it goes down to f/2, and the image stabilization is so nice for low light scenarios

R50 seems like a very good camera, but iirc it's not much of an upgrade over the m50
