Averie, gyroids are just collectible items that are kind of a staple of the animal crossing franchise. In ACNH you can find a gyroid fragment, bury it and water it, and dig up a gyroid the next day. They are nothing more than just a classic collectible and I brought you all my duplicates 🙂
