Forgot to mention, but I decided to start over in New Leaf for the first time in years (after NH kept me away) and my goal is to play the game once a day for a whole year.

(and yes, this was on Wednesday, didn't think to mention my goal until today because I'm a moron)

So my villagers as of today include Kevin, Elvis, Rosie, Rodeo, Gladys, Kitty and (upcoming via amiibo card) Ankha.

Sadly I might not get any StreetPass hits because nobody around me carries a 3DS anymore, that generation came to an end (even moreso when the option to buy stuff on the 3DS eShop shuts down next month).

Yep, they had it in NL (I think?). However, I don't think other tools in NL would break. The upgrades (for example golden items) are just so that you can do certain things faster.

Sending a letter to the villager always kept them from moving when I played Wild World. I would always send them a gift for good measure.
The game seems to be coded so that they have to respond to the letter; therefore, the game doesn’t allow them to move.

As for getting villagers to move, I dunno.

for new leaf each cartridge has its own save data (its own town!), and this is separate from the downloaded game as well. since it's save data is kept on the card not the 3ds. you won't have to get rid of the other town to make a new one. it isn't only one town per system for new leaf like it is for new horizons. so you can have many saves!!

Well there are ways to make duplicate saves with its own town on each save. Either you would buy another physical copy of the same game, or...something...

As what Tara said, each save is stored in the physical game card. Meaning you can have another save if you buy another one.

I could imagine someone stumbling on a used physical copy of New Leaf with a save file from the previous owner who played.

There are certain villagers and item sets that you need amiibo for, but it's not too major. And the only things you won't be able to do once online fully shuts down will be visiting players and going to the online island basically (there's still an offline version of the island so it doesn't actually make a difference, you just won't have other people with you from online) - these should still work locally though

watering can for like wilted saplings? becaude you can’t bring that tool there sadly, but you can plant fruit trees and flowers from the left-overs from doing the island tours (like the one with placing one type of flower in a flower bed in under the time limit)

Getting wiimmfi to work on DS is a pain, but its very easy to use on the wii, and there are multiple methods of getting online

The one I personally use is the internet channel method, you can find it on youtube

You connect to the wiimmfi servers and it changes the servers used for that specific session from WFC to wiimmfi

Wild world is by far the most brutal game if you dont play it daily

Out of the classic games gamecube is the easiest to pick up and drop at will
