@thorn marsh there's actually a few pets you can have in game! There's a birdcage, a hamster cage and literally any fish and bug placed down! My favorite fish placed down is the goldfish because their pot looks so cute and my favorite bug placed down is the crickets because theyre in little wooden cages!

@supple tide Personally, I think that you shouldnt add more stuff. The focus would be on whatever you place there then and would take away the organized room you now have. You can try to make a kinda loft with the stairs starting from a little bit outside the open space between the partitions. Then fill the rest of your tea kinda room floor behind the partition with the custom designs. Like those decks designs but then instead of a deck you create a loft.
