you don't have to have a theme, it can be a bit of everything you like, the downside of a theme is that you are always kinda stuck to it.

If you can fit one of those in and a path around it, you can then add some waterfalls around there & add some flowers, lamps etc

ohh, or if your Res services is on either left or right side, from the airport entrance, 2 diagonal bridges, making you choose between the left or right and the waterfall piece in the middle

you might have more space than you think. Think about how do you want to enter you res service square, from the center or from the middle of one of the square sides? That already elongates the path.

Ike's Personal Yard!

I like to think that Ike is just some grumpy bear who prefers having his own space, sort of like an introvert, so i made him his own personal space away from most villager homes, he even has a small picnic area right on top of his house just to chill and do whatever he does, i also gave him his very own fishing pond since whenever i see him on my island he's always fishing on rivers or ponds, just a nice little hobby of his... And yes Ike is also one of my favorite villagers so that's why i gave him so much space.

It's possible but it'll take quite a bit of planning beforehand so you have the shape of the heart as paths (so it appears on your map), and then it makes it easier to make it into a river (i find it harder to make shapes as river than as paths) (and of course the shape will be different from your drawing but it can still be a heart)

Rural, especially if it is older doesn't have things in a grid pattern, which you more likely see in a modern and city setting. So perhaps group houses together and the shops and square together like how this would be happening irl. You can also take the natural approach and build things where nature dictates them to be as a guide

Ig it really depends, if you so burnt out yea a fresh start wold be best, but you cold flatten and save any items you have so you don't have to re gather them you also woldent have to hut for villagers if you have your dreemys all ready, it just depends on the circumstances

I quite literally just make cliffs and chop them until it looks good. You can't learn how to until you start doing it. My #1 advice is "square corners and straight lines must die". Everything else is improvisation in the available space
