Does anyone who knows rock physics know if a rock will actually spawn in the space I have there? I've been trying for a few hours and it refuses to spawn there (doing the mannequin method and it spawns in my other spaces). Is my luck just that bad? Or should I move my garden up a few spaces?

Make sure every inch of your island is covered. That area seems fine to me. If you do have every inch of your island covered, take away items. Rocks won’t spawn if there’s too many items in a single area. It doesn’t seem like there’s many in that area. I don’t know if the custom pathing or in game pathing that’s not dirt counts towards that, but it’s good to check. I had an issue with rocks spawning and that was my issue. I had to remove items then put them back.

I recommend using the block fencing if you have the DIY, but only if it’s a suburban Japan vibe you’re going for. You could potentially use the iron / iron and stone fences as well, they’d look pretty good there I think.

I find the easiest way to start is to plan out a path way by laying down a custom design or something so you can get an idea of the flow and then start building cliff edges around your paths. I also put down 4x4 dirt squares where I’m thinking of moving houses so you know they fit while you’re working on an area. I watched a lot of YouTube builds lol Toffee is great

I've just finished building a cafe on my island and I need something to "box it in" (I've tried fences but they just don't look good). Are there any good items I can use to act as a border that won't take up a lot of space? I was thinking simple panels, but they might not look good from the side.

My advice would be to talk to your villagers regularly and find out what kind of things they like, then decorate their yards accordingly. For example; I have Merry and she often mentions that she thinks space is cool, so I went and placed a telescope in her yard for her to gaze up at the night sky

Looks like you're going for a cherry blossom/poolside theme, here are some ideas.

• Some pink petal piles to break up the dirt
• A black iron bench or two somewhere
• An outdoor changing booth next to the house for the pool/deck (can customize the curtain)
• A cherry blossom picnic area somewhere?
• A kimono stand of some kind
• Some fencing along the white ramp. Maybe bamboo or wedding to get the flowing fabric.

hmm depends on it for you want it more closed in or not. You could figure out height you want and do a nice seated area (wild log, mushrooms, bushes, wooden stakes, etc.) or you could go for a more open area, tiny farm with loose fencing (I mean like don't do the whole border just a little), You could also consider rocks to make it look like a small entrance to the beach.

Or you can bring down the terraforming a bit more to reduce the space so the path is closer to the beach

Okay! Well you could consider making a fake building here like a ramen stand, you could consider making a little zen area, playground, park, train stop. I'm not sure where you are on your island or if you have designed other parts first. The general rule I follow when I start designing my island is to start with then entrance & Resident Services since that kinda sets the mood for my island. I hope this helps a bit!

Hmm.. maybe try putting the katana where the go table is and have two go tables on each side and see what that looks like. But I cant really see the katana so it doesn’t seem like a lot to me. You can also try pulling it back a bit and see what the looks like so it’s not as hidden. Hopefully that helps.

Keep the benches where they are and maybe use garden benches instead. You can also consider having garden benches back to back in the middle. I’d get a zen bench and edit it however you’d like and put them in front of the food stands and put food items on top of them. You can also add boxes or barrels in front of the stands too. Here’s some reference of an old bakery idea I had for my island. Just put a bunch of food stuffs in from the the stands to make them look more natural.
