Why I did the diagonal path is because the RS was so close so with the cliffs it makes it feel further away.

you can definitely work around it though!

instead of trying to make the airport lead into the town hall directly straight up, you could sort of "ignore" and instead lead the player from the entrance to the right, and lead that back into the town hall

A wooden bridge would be good but keep in mind, I think you need 4 wide to place a bridge so I'm not sure you could place a bridge without altering what you have

TBH I'm not 100% committed to any given theme which is probably why this is a pain, but I do know I want something nature-y for the outer sections of the island while the inside is a bit more built. I almost want to say zen but I feel like that's overdone.

Okay. So here's my current layout for my front castle gate. Both of my knights Sterling and Knox lives here. Plus it guards the resident services which is like right behind it. I originally decided to have the walls different colors to try to match Knox and Sterling's color schemes (gold/red and silver/blue). But I honestly don't like that layout much anymore. Now I eventually intend to make them all one solid color and then make the flooring it's contrasting color. So which ones do you think I should go with? Dark gray wall/tower and terra cotta flooring? Or brick wall/tower and plaza tile flooring? Or do you think I should go with another color scheme (for example brown wall, stone flooring, gray wall, brick flooring, etc)? ~~also ignore those DIYs. maybe a jungle theme where lots of exotic bug displays can be placed naturally, a studio for flick to create his models, a space for nat to study them. flower field with lots of bee hives and honey related things, have the new dress mannequins wearing the beekeepers outfits near ables, lots of hidden spoiled turnips for ants and flies to be active, inside the homes could be roaches and centipedes toys (and if you tt then real ones) with the sloppy furniture set. i find the 'ruins wall' wallpaper to look really good with the giant grasshopper head coming out of the little dark window, lots of holes and cracks in the ground and leaf piles, custom codes could be really useful in creative ways too im sure

you already mentioned the termite mounds so im sure youve thought of ways to use those but yea, interesting theme gl with it

I feel like with awkward areas behind buildings, making them "inaccessible" at least up to the point that the player won't be obscured by the roof is the way to go. I've always felt like creating a cliff immediately behind the residential services is too crowded, I've seen some people add a forest behind it, and then some cliffs and it looks great

The canal idea, it moves traffic completely away from that area and creates a nice background~

I had this before I reset my island and I really liked it, so I'm doing it again. I found pictures of a nice yin yang pond so I'm thinking of putting that in the area below this. I'll have a path going around the pond, with benches, a few flowers etc. to make it a relaxing park area.
I'm not sure if I should stick with the brick staircases because they look good with the museum, or use stone stairs to make the pond feel a little more natural/zen.
Side note: Also want to add cliffs behind the museum with vines climbing up to an outdoor dino display area
Thoughts? Stone or brick? Does anyone have a stone staircase near their museum that I could look at to see if they look good together?

I am doing the same thing. I go on Pinterest and look at a bunch of different designs. Figure out if you want to to a whole island theme or sectioned themes. Decide on where you want your shops first because they are largest and most expensive to move. Have fun with it! Visit some dream islands too if you want.

Need advice. I plan on doing a fairy tale island mix of castle and outdoorsy stuff. My idea is to have the back of my island have all the castle themed stuff. Then the front on my island is the poor village outdoorsy stuff. Like how it is in the movies. But I want to include an Asian theme spot too cause I have a lot of cool items for it. Any thoughts on how I could incorporate it or if it would be too off.

I mean you can make a rock garden in any size area, and you don’t have to use all your rocks either. Some people have their rocks in more natural spots (not in a circle or in rows) and just decorate around them.

Thank you for your reply. I will say, I already know the theme I want to do for my island. I'm just awful at deciding what buildings should go where and I'm having issues with where to put my paths, cliffs, and rivers. So, it's mostly just layout ideas that I struggle with most.

Hey guys! I am needing some inspiration for a build I’m working on! I am making my Villager Village, which is done in a mushroom forest theme, hidden. It’s off to the right side of my island and there is a river that is separating it from the main land. I am wanting to “clutter” the edge next to the River to give it more of a hidden feel. I’ve put as many trees around the edge (as close as I can get) as possible but with how they have to be spaced, it’s not feeling cluttered :/. What can I use to fill the space and make it feel more enclosed and private?

depends on what your island generally looks like but with the way i do things id probably go with 3

Decorating them with some trees, potted plants, benches, etc is a great way and gives it that town feel! I’ve also been using the bistro table a lot and it’s like a cute little public table to sit down and read or have a drink!

I would go with 2 then fill in the spots on the side of the cliffs with hedges or potted plants for a little greenery!

Since sits able sisters, I would try the standing shop sign in place of the menu sign (you can customize it for a clothing add!) the other new hanging clothing racks would also look great! Little items like the stacked shoe boxes, sewing table, and mannequins of your favorite clothing items would also be really cute!
