🌸 How did you plan the layout of your island?
I realize the Happy Island Designer webtool is available, but I still find it quite difficult to even begin with due to the fact that a pleasing looking map does not always equal a pleasing or even navigable layout to walk through!
🌸 How do you make an island with plenty of scenery without slowing down framerate?
I've noticed a few dream islands I've visited with too many items on them seem to slow the game down.
🌸 How do you make a cohesive island that doesn't feel like a bunch of random stuff thrown together?
I've started making wishlists on Nookazon but still feel a bit lost on how to put everything together.

If you plant it right next to another tree, it won't grow. Same on if you plant a tree in various stage growths, and you plant a nursery tree right next to/behind/in front of it, the both of them won't grow.

Just worked on the structure of my gift shop, which is right at the entrance to my island. What do you think? It's not decorated yet, just the main components. I honestly might move it a little to the right, as the dirt path you see to the left goes straight down the incline which is directly in front of my airport.

I'm trying to make a mideval themed island, inside the castle walls with me the town and castle of the wealthy, outside I want to traverse through a thick forest, eventually entering a farmer/poor village, they get hit with high taxes and barely have enough to get by. Villagers can also go an pay respects to the heros grave at the mountain and pray that one day order will be restored to the kingdom. Then there's some blank spots I have no idea what to do with.

You can add some depth by rotating a mix of the hege and a different fencing, the flower in front of the window can be exchanged for the flower bed to yo don't have the weird gap between the different paths you can do a arch as a office entrance to the area. As for decor do as much sewing stuff and make a small sitting area

Oh, such an interesting location! Personally, I would do a mixture of bridges and inclines to take you on a curve. Maybe have an incline going to the left and then an angled bridge which brings you to the right.

That way you could have differing heights and an interesting pathway rather than just straight to the right.

Oh, I've seen some really pretty island like that. Well, depending on what you think would work best for you, you could either move all the buildings to the side and flatten the area. Or you could work one square at a time and work your way through the island like that.

the key to keeping it natural is to pretty much just go with the flow moreorless! just create cliff shapes with convex and concave edges, leave room for trees, flowers, etc

sometimes custom designs can do that though, not sure why. i had issues putting my road design over the stone path, but only at one angle

oh i see what you mean now! i figured that was just a shadow. maybe check the designs themselves and see if the bordered path is actually darker?

it could very well be the dirt though. let me test it

putting a design on the dark dirt and then one next to it on grass didn't make a different for me. it's most likely just a different in designs, maybe you saved the edge of a dark path set on accident?

Some times it needs a transparent pixle to work right

Unfortunately patterns with transparent pixels will use the colour of whatever path is underneath it, whereas solid ones don't, which is why the transparent edges appear differently than the middle bits

I also like the cul de sac idea since it's a good area to put villagers. You could always consider making the back of the cul de sac more forested or do some water if want like a train in the distance.

Yeah I'll be adding some trees, that's why I spaced my villager houses at the back out a little bit

it's mostly ACGC inspired so that'll be decorated a bit more at the front as well

had the ACGC housing setup and it was really nice but I want something that will look a little better so we'll see what can be done

Look for a "Fantasy Town Generator" or something similar, let it generate names over and over until you find one you like, change it a bit if needed. That's how I named my towns in Wild World!

i honestly find it helps to make them intentionally wonky! with really thin parts, and maybe a pond-shaped bit, winding around and stuff rather than the same width and curving perfectly. i just kinda improvise though to be honest LOL
