Every time when u find a reference picture it’s easier if u count how many space it needs and start from there. Like from the entrance picture u posted u can start placing the path down 9x2 starting from your airport entrance. Then start placing the flowers and cat and benches ( if u are doing exact 100%) . Then cliff . Then water

So I might not be super happy with my new map, but I'll give it a go. But I have a huge empty space, between the south exot River and the plaza area, that I can't think of what to go there. Also thinking of adding bus stops to get around quicker (the purple squares) one for redd, home, shops. Think the placement is OK for them? The design is going to be a 5x5 for them.
But the big empty part is haunting me, it's next to the beach but I can't think of anything theme is cityish, I won't be having roads and such but paving I haven't decided yet

Hi, your English is okay, so don't worry about it ^^

For the entrance, the first thing I do is always stick with a theme. With a theme, you can easily think of furniture that goes well with your island.

Usual entrance ideas involves a lot of terraforming using cliffs and waterfalls. It's your choice if you want it to be a path, bridge or stairs that enters to your island.

Example:
My island is Studio Ghibli themed with Japanese areas, I built some cliffs, small waterfall and a bridge that enters to my island. I used furniture like pagoda, blossom viewing lantern, tall lantern and the zen fence.

Hi folks, I need your opinion! My island’s theme (I think now it has a theme) garden and resort all around the world. It came that way because I just made everything I like so I made a lot of garden. I still think that my theme is “everything that I like mashed into one pot of potato”, so for a leftover big space on the upper right side of my island I’m making Zeniba’s house from Spirited Away. It’s looking good for me but I wonder if it’s matched with the other part of the island. What do you think, is it weird to have a scene from a movie (a swamp moreover) in an island full of garden inspired by places in real life?

Have you tried fishing area spot? Like using fishing rods, bucket, some fish tanks and some barrels

I'm not fully sure what your theme is but if it's city core mixed with some nature stuff, you can add cliffs and decorate with some bushes or flowers. If it is plain city ore just try making make shift buildings using stalls, simple panels, loft beds, etc

I like your entrance, it just needs more flowers and bushes on top of cliffs. Also use some lighting like streetlights or any other lighting you think fits your theme.

Hello not sure if this is the correct channel to ask but can someone tell me what I did wrong here? My rocks won't spawn in this area. This is the only area with grass in it

Rocks can spawn on the dirt paths. So you want to put the little stands everywhere 4 spaces apart if that space does not have a pattern on the ground, a path that isn't dirt, or something in that spot.

Rocks need 8 spaces around them in order spawn where you want them. There’s not enough space. Also, they spawn on dirt paths. I don’t know what the rest of your island looks like, but you need to make sure every space is covered. I highly suggest just putting down a custom path or one of the non dirt paths. It’s easier.

Add some trees and bushes in between the flowers. You can alternate between 2 types of regular trees (forgot the name). For furniture, you can use log stakes or the cottagecore fence (also forgot the name). You can use birdhouse, drinking fountain, barrels, oil lantern or candles somewhere. Like you can put the furniture in a mess sort of but everything will make sense once it looks crowded with things that act as fillers

Hi! i am in the process of flattening out my island completely. Ive seen a few youtube videos and whatnot on tips to make the process more efficient. I had an island with terraforming that i was just not content with. I really really wanted to reset, but I didnt want to lose the villagers that i grinded for when the game released. So i decided to just clean up my island and create a new build. To be completely honest, I do not know where to start. I guess you could say that I am having a sort of "art block/ creative block" and i cant seem to find an easy way to be able to map out where i want everything to be. I feel like thats too much planning. Are people out here with full on plans? or do they improvise? lol i feel so silly asking this but if anyone has any tips or inspiration id greatly appreciate it. The best advice I can give for beginners is to pick one area on your island and focus at one area at a time so you do not get overwhelmed.

Prior to island building, make sure you have a theme in mind. You can do an island theme basing on your interests or your favorites. That way you can enjoy your island all throughout.

hello! flattening your island is a very very time consuming thing to do. i also considered flattening out my island in the beginning of my game but I decided against it because it would ultimately be too much work -w- i would recommend trying to work with what you have but if you really want to change your terraforming then you should do what you believe is right! what you want ur island to be and look like is the most important and its very important also to be happy about what u designed. i just went with the flow haha i started on my entrance and then worked my way upwards from my entrance and now im almost ALMOST done! for a cozy feel i would also recommend having either lots of flowers or greenery. your aesthetic also sounds like cottagecore so you should look into that! i wish you the best of luck with your decorating! 💕

I agree, it really helped me through my process of island building because I was really overwhelmed by a lot of things in the island. I needed to set aside that trouble of thinking about it by just focusing on one area at a time - like for example a small picnic area. That's doable and not overwhelming. i just looked that up and it seems like a kind of underground anime. i actually never heard of it. But it seems like it is about cars, (which usually, but not always, takes place in a city) I think if you can differentiate between City, Town, Village , it would really help. After doing some research, the anime only narrows it down to taking place in the "Kanto region" However, Tokyo is in Kanto, and Tokyo is a city. I think it would be nice to do a mix between city and village. With a "gas station" area, some parking spots (using designs that others created free to use) , road designs, some hang out spots would be cool, a cafe or restaurant, stuff like that,

Mostly just when they connect to a river from the bottom they look like a certain body part. Im not gonna mention here.

I used the island map maker to trace my map, then used ibispaint to make a new layer with a star over, and drew around it to make it more pixeled to suit the space I wanted. And the great thing about using ibis over the online map maker, you can just dupe the map and replan new areas

The sqare on the left is where my house will go and the houses on the left are my dad's and sister's houses my sister's house will go on a square on that side making it symmetrical and she wants puddles house (the circled one) up there with her I'm also going to have a neighbor but I haven't decided yet. My only advice, 1 doesn't have good 4x4 spawn area for fishing. 2 kinda does but felt lacking when connecting to rivers. 3 is my current since I can add whatever when connecting (like the moon) even added the star image i got from Google (I believe some stock website i didn't make it nor claim to) if it isn't clear enough to see I can change the colour from black

But they take up alot of room, for the middle section I just scaled the outside part down and went over it to "fit"

Ignore that strip of land. I just needed it to take the picture 😂 Anyways, I decided that I wanted to place my rock garden at the back of my island as a way to lead to my secret garden. My secret garden is in the back center of my island. It’s also straight behind my resident services. Does anyone have any ideas to how I could get to this area? I hate stepping stones, so those are out the question. I was thinking about putting an incline, but then I would need to figure out how to do the cliffs surrounding it. I’m open to anything expect those stepping stone kinds of paths.

I would love to see their house recreated and the garden outside of it

Thank you but now comes another hard part! I'm not too good at all that floor texture and leaf pile/furniture arrangement stuff everyone is so good at. His house will sit at the back of the cemetery. I'm trying to find some inspiration for the house itself and creating an exit to leave the back of the cemetery.

Since we get the roost (Brewster) in Nov. I need a idea of what to replace my cafe building with. It was a 6x4 fake build with outdoor seating, ice cream van, which lead to a beach side bbq and bar.... But now I can't think of what to do. Maybe I can turn it into a restaurant but I can't think of a ac theme one 😭

I don't have one but depending on how big you area is, I was going to suggest making a pirate ship that has a restaurant in it. So it looks like a mini island - surrounded by a small lake. Then on board the island/ship just add some maybe mermaid elements and shells to give the restaurant a seafood theme.
