You can do movie.tv show inspired stuff, city, abandoned island/village/city, fairy/fantasy, medieval, mystery (like solve a murder or scavanger hunt), or just ignore all themes and start decorating and see what it turns out the be and roll with it. All depends on what you like the most. Maybe try a couple small areas to decorate and see which one you like the most

@woven drift cedar trees and elevation will be your friend if you want a more closed in vibe which would be good for RS. Barbed wire fencing, mush items, pumpkins, skull radio, bug models, and dark flowers will be your friend to set the moody vibe. If it want it more flat, then you will need simple panels, trees, fencing, bushes, etc to help create a more dense backdrop of RS if that is something you are going for.

I would figure out how to normally come and go from your RS since that will help you plan elevation when you get it

you can also use fences/patterns to plan elevation if you want to start on that ASAP, otherwise, I would plan to decorate with the layout you have

If you wanna keep these tiles then you should atleast cover the edges with a fence or some kind of block that covers the edges perfecly maybe bamboo partitions or something because the area looks kinda blocky rn.
Another thing is you should put some fences around the bamboo,or maybe some bamboo stick items i forgot what they're called to make them look more defined ,maybe move the bath in front of the stone and bamboo or something and add more bamboo items all around

the paths look good on their own but you may want some more variation it looks like a repeating pattern instead of a real walkway! maybe make some that vary slightly in different ways to create the illusion or make the edges of the path less curved, more just a natural but still fairly straight edge so that it's not so noticeable

i think if the edges were more natural when placed against each other, the clovers wouldn't look like patterns and if would be perfect!

It would be a bit of a hassle to move, but if you raise everything up a cliff and design maybe a double staircase leading up to it it could look a lot bigger (compensating with more simple panels on cliffs)
If you give me a minute I can show you a much larger example with old photos of my castle

In my mind, towering building=mansion

This one from like a year ago showcases sort of what I mean. You could condense it and stuff to fit your style of course. But the stairs make the walk up to it longer and feel more established as an entrance rather than a house on a path.

It gives a better illusion of holding more developed ‘property’

They look nice on the map and look nice when decorated too. Makes for good waterfalls as well

Well this is my ables shop, I made a really obvious path

It leads from a ramp so it overlooks a cliff, I plan to add waterfalls on the upper cliff where my Nooks is

I'm not the best when it comes to suggesting decorations for Nooks, but outside Ables I would suggest an old sewing machine, some clothes, maybe an iron garden table and chairs with a cup of coffee on it, some flowers and a hardwood tree perhaps too

Yeah I get you when you say it's odd. Since my nooks is on the 2nd level, the trees obscure things behind it a bit while making it look natural, so that when I eventually put the path and picnic area down that I've had planned for a while, it won't look too bizarre

I'm debating changing my island completely. I do enjoy Citycore designs but I was debating a more natural or rural design, since I'm not a huge fan of roads, I'd probably want more sidewalk/cobble ish choices. But I still want to keep a functional design. (aka level fishing spots, tree stumps for bugs etc) but I'm struggling with the layout for villagers housing. I want to have some space for them to make it look like a liveable island but it eats up so much space. I was wondering if anyone who is a citycore islander can share how they have tackled this issue, and if you have a more natural vibe going! (I mainly want to keep natural as I made my own version of "the path" with tons of extra parts to it and I'd hate for them to go to waste)

I find it odd it's lists her hobby as music, I guess that's why harp is given to her and she uses the flower record player. But I still like that image that someone did of her yard, just feels its lacking the obvious sewing she seems to like.
