Cause personally I wanted my town hall to be VERY close to the airport and incorporated into the entrance

I took more care with choosing my layout, which sorted out my stress about later terraforming. I also put all the buildings I could on the beach/in a good place to save bells later.

I think it’s also a bit easier to get through the early game because you know what to do for materials and such

Its a blank canvass and you’re the artist 👩‍🎨. Terraform if you prefer to create space between the airport and RS .. and make meandering paths with trees and bushes , etc .. but if you like seeing it from the airport then anything goes! And streets are fun if you like the city core look .. just a matter of preference

When about to start decorating an island so organizing custom designs, do you fill all your slots at the start or leave some blank?

I changed my mind many times as I was decorating inside and out . What helps me is to screenshot things I like and keep MA and MO codes of them with dates . Sometimes I go back and use them because I find a place somewhere and Im glad I saved them. also paths can be easily changed seasonally if you save it in an organized way. I learned the hard way and messed up my paths. Really good question you thought about - Id save at least 10 spots if you can

I agree with Iris, if you're looking to go with a village sort of vibe, speading your villagers houses out will work. I have a village-ish theme on my own island, and the houses are separated into three sections away from the plaza and shops and stuff like that

The way I’ve done my island is probably quite different than what you’re thinking. But I sorta organized my island into different sections. Like here’s the natural sections, here’s the urban section, here’s the rural/farm section. And I feel like having different types of areas that are designed differently but similar enough for consistency can be really important and look really nice

I also separated my houses into 3 distinct areas. One group is near my pumpkin patch and by the plaza, another is north by lots of different water features. My third is inlaid in a cliff almost crater like.

Oh, green mums? Yeah they're tricky to grow. Once you've got one though, cloning is the way to go, even if it takes a while. Hopefully you'll be able to get some - I'm sure they'd look great
