Oh, you can use the camera in the nookphone, and the camera position will be set where you were standing, then you can move out of frame and slightly position the camera

Oh I see what you mean… I definitely don’t think it looks bad but it does stop you from being able to add more to your garden area cause it’ll take away the walkway.. but you framed the rocks well with the pathway so I still like it!! The entrance from the airport goes perfect to your pathway and then the steps on the right lead right up to the house beach with the house so I think it’ll be fine👍🏻

So I severely underestimated how hard it would be to get a pic of the terrain lol😅😂

I’m gonna replace almost all of the trees with oak trees to make it look more like a forest and add in some more details like plants/tents/caves etc… but in the end I’m going for a mountain forest look

My best advice is build it sideways not longways like I did so it’ll be easier to see! It’s almost impossible to pick up the detail with the cameras but you can see it when you walk through it🤷🏼‍♀️

@blazing thistle you could consider terraforming to make the place seem more closed off. If you don't want to do that then consider taller items in the back shorter in the front. Example, palm tree, stalls, Yucca plants/other plants, then consider stools, fire place/pit etc.

Additionally patterns help add variety can reduce the visibility of gaps

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well. Just wanted to ask for everyone’s opinion on how to shape a river(s) on my island. So to give you an idea of my theme: it’s a Sakura themed island, I plan on having at least one part of a River surrounded by Sakura trees to simulate something like the Meguro River in Japan. The main problem I’ve had with both of the island designs I’ve done has to do with the placement of my entrance and the Resident Services. As for any ideas any of you have, you are free to go all out with the ideas. I have more than enough bells to cover the costs of moving all the buildings along with ordering the items for decorating. I’ll send a picture of my layout. Just to be clear, don’t feel pressured to give any ideas lol just if you have an idea of how to layout the river(s) let me know

That's a pretty good idea! My theme is centered around a japanese sort of cottage town in a sense. For example, I plan to imitate the Meguro River in Japan (It's a river surrounded by sakura trees) on a part of the river. Think that would work turning it into a mini island? I believe it could work out pretty well

I think that could work pretty well! Originally I was thinking that the rivers would lead straight(ish) into the resident services, but that could be difficult due to how the river mouths are at a diagonal and the Meguro River is straight. I'd reccomend terraforming the rivers in a zigzag pattern so the rivers would have straight parts that you could easily decorate look like the Meguro River.

Do you think the island should just be big enough to do a fence around the RS? Making the island bigger would throw empty space into the equation and that could turn into a nightmare that would result in the island taking up too much space

You could def turn that area into like a marketplace with vending machines and stalls and what not if you don't already have an area like that. Alternatively it could be used to show off fossils and art. Also you could just decorate with trees flowers etc.

Trees won't grow if they're right on the water's edge, much like how they can't be planted right on the edge of a cliff. Bushes and flowers can though

Only path that’s works for diagonal bridge are those that can curve ( usuAlly takes up 9 slots ). If u are looking for a design ( that is only 1 slot square ) , then u will always have the problem as pictured

try bringing the path at the bottom a few tiles up that way you can put trees near the bottom edge of the cliffs ! another tip is to curve the linear path that leads down (by the birdge) to make it look a bit more natural like how you have it near the houses. im a big fan of this area, that waterscaping is beautiful !!

Can someone please help me with how to go about remodelling my island? It’s currently on 4 stars but I hate the layout and I’m so uncreative, I wish you could just have a button to completely flatten the island but I don’t believe this exists! move every building to the beach, so you don’t have to replace them everywhere like i did, wasted so much money 🥲, other then that? Cut every tree/move them, drop every furniture in storage or beach, and put on a movie or something while you flatten the island

I want to my island to be tropical themed, what are some good tips for making a tropical themed Island? (Tropical island pictures would be appreciated but I mainly need tips because I can always go to google)

be in the summer time where hibiscus bushes are in season as red, yellows, whites and oranges will most likely be your primary color pallet when it comes to flowers and furniture though of course you aren't limited to that. it'll most likely need quite a bit of waterscaping to make it look tropical as well. coconut trees, coconut trees everywhere!

dried bamboo furniture will be a very good set of items to use, as well as rocks like maoi and rock-head statues

definitely should look at dream addresses and island tours of tropical themed islands on YouTube to see what kinds of items they use

I made mine tropical themed, still a huge wip but you want a lot of natural looking paths, like they move around the trees not that the trees were removed to make the paths kind of feel

Hibiscus bushes are your biggest friend and focus on focal points, sometimes it’s ok to have stunted trees in the front and full grown palm trees in the back to give more depth

Advice to people worried about designing and terraforming, just go with the flow, if you have an artistic block take a break and try later. Dont have a plan just sculpt it as you go
