I have a finished set up, and personally I placed each of my villagers in areas that I thought they would choose, if that makes sense. My lazy for example lives right next to the beach and has his own little playground there, my cranky lives near the river and has a small fishing area, my sisterly lives next to a woodsy area because she's a squirrel and enjoys going for strolls through there, and so on...

If you're going for an area where all the villagers are close together, I'm not sure I'm the best for advice. My villagers all live in a neighborhood separate from the rest of the island, but the neighborhood is also spread out across three areas. hm, you could maybe try adding a garden wagon either behind or in front of the stalls? floating-biotope planters or any of the plant furniture like monstera's could look good on the floor as well! and you could even play around with giving the pansy table some seating and placing something on it

tbh i don’t like all of them but the first 2, but the 3rd is my least favorite. i like the 4th, but i don’t like that one spot where dizzy is standing and i don’t think it fits what i’m going for that much

the 4th looks different from parts that aren’t just that area tho you can’t really see any of their houses lol. but dizzy and filbert are up the incline and have a playground, pietro to the left, etolie and stella to the right

Ok hmm, the 3rd picture i think that the problem with it is that its too much stone everywhere and there's not 3nough contrast between green grass and rock, so it makes the place look very empty. I'd probably make the stone path around 2 wide or 3 wide instead of 4, and around the path between the houses add trees and furniture and fences so it looks like the villagers live there

But it also depends on what theme ur going for, from the looks of it are u going for like a, European Town theme?

Yessss , for my island it looked very bare but when I just covered it with random coloured flowers and trees it looked 10000 times better, nature always makes stuff look better, and u can make patterns with the flowers so it looks neat

Hmm yeah I understand what u mean cuz the doorsteps are 3 squares wide, so I think if u make the path below it which is 2 wide and just make it 3 wide, its a bigger path but if u add decorations to the road I think it would make it more vibrant

Yeah that sounds great! If you use either of the dirt paths it’ll give you that cottage core / natural type feel for sure. You can even make a 2-3 space flower pathway that can lead to the area. Let me know how it goes!

I move square by square, usually starting with my entrance backwards (north). it’s mostly personal preference, but you could get a good idea for different areas using resources like happy island designer! We can dm if you have further questions 🙂

Here is my whole bottom beach done! I shall put the backstory below

Basically the backstory of it is that the beaches were nice but people visiting (gulliver and gullivarr) would steal nice things off the beaches so villagers now leave their stuff on the beaches hoping that the pirates take their junk away

Ok well I am happy to share a few updates on my island as it is down in Renovation. Thanks to TOM NOOK I am really struggling with cash (kinda) destroying and moving for a while so I can get my lay out straight. I am putting my full focus to the top left of my island near my home as I am taking that area and making it into my humble village for my villager homes. I am making signs for them to post outside there home. I will upload them to my Creator profile and post that later for yous that you can use. So I hope I have enough room for all 10 homes but if not its just gonna be a tight fit. Let's hope I can do this! I am looking for decoration ideas for Skye's home on the right. I got Sylvia's home decoration in mind already.

A trick I found for specific designs: if the color turns out not to be the tone you're looking for try placing some other floor under neath. I was using this purple plank design, but on the snow floor it turned sort of pinkish. But put some black dirt underneath and it changes a lot!

ok question about your entrance what’s on the left/right cliffs and how far do they extend (if u don’t mind sharing). I have problems with flow when my entrance is designed with cliffs like this because I never know what to put on both sides

They dont extend too far, its just more path to lead to other places

you can always terraform your island, my biggest mistake was not taking into account the position of town hall because you cannot move it

That's true. Like I said, I think the only thing that concerns me is how thin the sides are because of the rivers. I'm sure there could be a way to work with it though

Oh yeah absolutely! Once you terraform you could move them to give as much room as you need, except on the corners on either side of the mouth. One idea I had (and I think someone mentioned above) is connecting them south of resident services and having a bridge at your entrance

I have a double south river and it is my #1 regret/ biggest frustration. I have re-terraformed and am happy-ish with it now but I would change it if I can. The biggest issue is that there isn't space for those two corners to develop into neighborhoods or anything spacier (it is less than one square each).

I see it as a good feature, I dont have to talk to people I can just view their island as I please
