Sorry, I think the design has a strong contrast to the grass and it looked like it was not overlaying.
Maybe you can curve off the in-game path corners? It looks very square 🤔
Alternatively, you could make stepping stones instead of having it all covered?
Stepping stones can be like one tile or 2x2 circles, for example.
I can find pictures if you don't know what I mean ☺️

I feel like it's really hard to decorate when you only have one tile of space. If you're set on the house locations, I'd probably just plant bushes and alternate with some fences and flowers. But if you move the house just one tile to the right (so you have two tiles of width for the yard to the left of the house), you could have enough space to make a tiny cute yard, sort of like this person's neighborhood: https://twitter.com/iru_mori/status/1283692138585194497 I know their theme is rural Japan, so it's a bit different from yours, but you could replace the furniture for more elegant items like the garden wagon, cypress plant, fan palm, monstera, bird bath, etc.

tbh I don't really see people using the brick fence except for uh.. PewDiePie?? But he's literally trying to make his island look like a standard United States suburb, which isn't an aesthetic most people aim for lol. And I think terracotta is mostly used for something like a pool area or an area near the beach. For neighborhoods, I tend to see people use the stone path, dirt path, or arched stone path (if they're trying to be fancy).

found this on google, might be helpful as it also has bushes on there. my island has pink, blue, purple and white flowers on it, but the more pastel colours than the bright colors. I guess your islands theme and your personal preference will help you pick a colour scheme. hope it helps

One persons idea of what an entrance looks it looks like is different to what another person thinks, isn't that the point? Some go for very elaborate entrance designs, some go for more of an open entrance, or a long winding entrance. There is no way to define them because everyone is different

All you need to do is craft a stall, find a custom design for it (search for 'fortune teller stall' in the Custom Design Portal in Able's, and then place a fortune telling set and a candle on the stall

Ok guys I need some help. I have a few small designs like ice cream shop, beach area, work out , arcade, kids playground. How do you guys decorate your island? Do u see what furniture you have and work w that or do u seek out the furniture to match your stuff? I feel like I have the tools but not creativity!

I generally think of a theme first and then go through nookazon or nook plaza for items. Pinterest is also a great place to check for things as well!
My first theme was studio ghibli and for that I just rewatched the movies and used specific scenes
to recreate them.
My current theme is farm core which has lots of codes and inspo pics on Pinterest.

My island started off by mostly copying what I saw other people do. Then, over the past year, I've edited and tweaked so much of it that it's basically 95% me now

I see things online (Pinterest is the bomb if you’re looking for ideas) and try to recreate them with my resources! Though I do always have an eye out for the actual items people have in those designs. I don’t think there is a problem with taking other people’s designs, because I feel like in the end you’ll make it your own and not an exact copy.

For me personally I placed down paths and terraformed first, and then I grabbed a load of furniture from my storage for specific areas and placed things and rearranged until I found items that worked well together. I do try to match furniture I suppose, but not in an obvious way. I like findings items that don't seem like they would work well together, but somehow do. It makes it more fun I think

For specific villager yards, if they're popular enough, you can find examples by googling "acnh Tia yard" or "acnh Tia decoration." The below is the first image result for Tia. I'm sure you can find examples of people's yards for Fauna, though Ellie might be difficult.

She means just get items that match the furniture that the villager has inside their home and find items of the color that the villager likes. Also, find out what the villagers hobby is and their favorite style and find items to match. The house color scheme for example, just find items that match the color of the villagers house. If they have a blue door but a yellow wall, use blue and yellow items...

I've found it very helpful when it comes to what clothes to give my villagers because they're always happier when they get clothes that they like, and what items to use for their yards and so on

It tells you what two colors every villager loves, what their hobby is (eg. Education, Nature, Fitness, etc), and what their favorite style is. It also shows what their house looks like, in case you forget

I've found that working in small chunks helps with designing my island! Plus there are a few websites you can use to pre-layout your island so you don't waste a ton of bells. With my island my style changed as I went so I would go back and modify whatever corner I needed

Maybe try thinking about how you would like your island to look in general before you start working on it? Print out a copy of your map if you can and plan out what you would like to have where, and just go from there. Don't worry about getting things done in a specific time frame and just have fun

Well it depends, what don't you like about it? If you dislike the river mouths, airport location, or town plaza then there isn't much that can be done except restart your island. But if none of those are what you dislike then I would personally start with planning placing villager homes

Terraforming isn't necessary to have a pretty island, yeah it can help but you don't NEED to terraform to have a pretty island. I felt the same way when I started island designing and saw all the manicured islands, but comparing your island to theirs isn't helping you at all. Detailed islands like those take time. Be patient with yourself and make a plan and your island will be looking amazing in no time.

That will look great! You already have a basic concept with the map. Just a warning I'm unaware of any island having 3 river outlets. Now next you should pick a corner and begin working. Maybe start on that orchard in the lower right corner?

Terraforming can be tricky- I think it's fun, and I love the use of waterfalls. I think cliffs add some charm to the island- however, some themes and ideas don't call for that sort of thing. I'd reccomend looking for themes/ideas that make you happy and make you want to play. Some more popular ones are Kidcore bright colors, Springcore/Forestcore, making everything look more earthy and natural or as interesting as Tropicore, turning your island into a tropical paradise with all sorts of fruits and lights.

Yeah, we understand that. But having a theme will make terraforming easier. Silly as it sounds, and it is a tricky process. The good thing about Terraforming is that you can always undo what you've done and try again. I accidently ruined my entrance and had to redo all the water for it, annoying- but I am better off for it, I like my entrance a lot better now.

Try taking it area by area- start with an entrance... then an orchard- maybe a villagers yard?

I know you're not worried about a theme. I understand that. That's why I said don't worry about a theme. If you're worried about terraforming search for videos on youtube that guide you though it and show you how to do it. As for the shape of your island, as I said, you could start by placing paths to connect things and go from there. I've personally found that paths really help to separate things and make decorating areas easier because you don't have such large spaces to work with then

I did the same! When I first started teraforming I had no idea what I was doing so I watched other people do speed builds over and over again on a loop and experimented until I got a better grasp of it
