You can round off the piece next to it to make it look natural. Just make the diagonal square of the corner land and then the adjacent tiles of the square water, hit the corner and itll be cut rounded off.

I don't know if this helps someone, but this is how I designed the yards of each of my villagers.
A hedge out of bushes around the house, trees in each corner, and a few items that fit the villagers theme kinda nicely arranged in front of the house.
