Any advice on a comfy airport entrance? I'm having so much trouble coming up with something I truly like. I love love love cottage/forest looks and I've spent HOURS looking at youtube, reddit, discords, etc etc hoping I get inspired.

log couches, small campfires, maybe a tent and some of the animal crossing mobile game gear like the small camper or campground sign.

not to mention the pine trees and maybe some mushrooms from fall time and a cute path thats a little more patchy

im not sure it this fits your liking but maybe a two tiered cliff with waterfalls in the front left and accessories on the cliffs and flowers and on the right you can put a mini lake near the front and a seating area behind it. then to the back, you can put lots of trees and put some fencing up if u like things tidy. if you'd like a more city entrance then you can put those cute multicolored airport benches as well. i hope this is somewhat a help to ur problem!

Hey uhm you could do like a big straight forest terraform some cliffs on the side and make it look super color with paths and items!!!

unfortunatley other people cant terraform or decorate your island for you, but if you look in the pins it tells you how you can search for inspo pics in this channel. when coming up with my island layout, I started with a theme - this could be something like fairycore or cottagecore, but could just be a colour scheme, for example my island's theme is white, pink, blue and purple. i would start on small areas that you have some idea of what you want to do with, and you may find the rest comes naturally after that. you will probably flatten and rework areas many times before you are properly happy with them, so dont be discouraged if you dont like something first time round. good luck!

Someone could design your island for you in Happy Island Designer if you provide an image of your map to them so they can properly place the airport, resident services plaza etc. I don’t know anyone who does it though.

um i'm not so sure.. all of my shops and houses are all over the place and i haven't done anything since i also don't really know where to start. i have two south river outputs and i feel like that might've been a weird layout to choose, since i don't know where i should have anything and also have rivers where i can catch fish from

totally understandable, i suggest you to start building at the entrance first and then slowly expand. you can search on youtube how to build some cute layouts too!!

totally agree with nini, start somewhere and expand off it. you can always come back and change it later. i find it helps brainstorming some area ideas that you would like to include and you can start to plan in your head where you would like them to go. youtube speed builds are always a good watch

mhm! around February I flattened out my island and took a break. when I came back I decided to do some terraforming and here we are :)

im not the best at terraforming since I'm a small perfectionist but I like the way these waterfalls turned out :)

I think so too. My island is based on a small town in the UK, like the one I grew up in, and you can always find these old leaflets at the post office written in text like this.

Old leaflets are a cornerstone of our economy, I think. Along with houseplants and old books. There's just a lot of those things here.

i need advice so i'm not sure if i should terraform this area to look more natural or not, it's a neighborhood and then a garden with some sort of orchard area. what do you guys think? bc moving all the houses would be a pain and idk if it's worth it?

Moving all the houses would be 250k!! I think they look great where they are anyway, it's worth keeping them lined up like that.

The place to the left could be terraformed into a forest or orchard though!

You can cheat by having a flat woods and wrapping it in cliffs so that it looks secluded.

Hello, I am working on a neighborhood on my island but I am concerned about the houses blocking eachother due to the camera angle (aka house in front blocking view of house in back). Any spacing recommendations when putting houses in a row?

I would personally recommend against making a neighborhood where all of the houses are very close to eachother, i have done this and it greatly restricts your amount of creativity you can have on your island, since you'll have no space for specific yards for each of your villagers

Well you have two main options how I see it. You can either embrace the closeness like the picture with Merillcrossing or you can make it seem further away with terraforming

So you can make a little mountain to cut around to another angle of the RS so it seems farther

you can also just use trees too if you want it flat

Yeah graveyards are somewhat popular and makes sense with the theme. I think an abandoned playground or sitting area would be really cool, but since there is no moss option for most items and we can't lay a stool on the grass sideways either it's difficult . Often it looks too new or just dirty instead of anbondend.

@teal bison depends on the theme. I'm currently remodelling mine and resident service is somewhat close, but that's okay because I'm going for a city vibe. So streets and bus stop is right by my RS. If you want something different, how about turning RS into a train station?
If you prefer nature type stuff terraforming to hide RS from direct view and a little bridge might be an option (unless you have only 3 spaces ^^")

ok, that is about the same as me i think. i have terraformed mine to make it feel further away, but you could also do the path to it and put trees, flowers and seating to the sides of the path to make a public park type entrance. here is my entrance, you can just make out rs in the background, so you can see how terraforming can be used to make it feel further away

i have also seen people make a little trading area near their airport to make trading with other players easier, so that could look cool too

Yo, to anyone struggling to build their island up. I know I’m not a professional or anything but try drawing a plan out on paper. I went into this with no direction and came out with a fully fleshed out blueprint of what I want my island to look like. It took me a while but it’s better than aimlessly building cliffs and such just to tear them down lol

what type of medieval are you going for? if its the medieval that im thinking of (its probably not) then you could put a nice pathway thats covered with bamboo and other types of trees on the sides with a lot of bushes and flowers and theres a pathway of whatever path u use on your island and there could be those imperial bridges connecting that area with the rest of your island sry this is super simple but im very brain ded right now cuz im in spanish class

or you can just hide the bamboo within other variations of trees

Here is my map, I was thinking that I could do a sunken waterfall right there where the blue is? Thoughts? I was also thinking about the read area where my character marker is to be a little like picnic/park area? I'm not too sure what to do with the other red spots but I'm trying to focus on the one where my marker is since that ill be the most traffic. A couple weeks ago, I finished making my Eeveelution garden. I’m beginning to wonder if I should change the mush lamps to floor lights. It’s getting annoying bumping into the lamps ngl, but the lamps fit my overall theme the most. Should I change them or keep them? Expanding the area is out of the question because I don’t have room to.

Like take 1 fencing out and just put the lamp there? It's look a little wonky tho

But if you remove the fencing it gives you room to add trees and maybe even more items to enhance the scenery
