I guess my best advice is to just dive in and start destroying/clearing out areas. Even if you have some attachment. It was hard making the decision to destroy some areas I like. But then I end up liking my new area.

@limber shadow well my town center/ rs is a little urban but still works well with my forest theme too. So you can have both if you want. The key is to use a lot of wood items, barrel, trees, bushes, etc to help keep it natural.

Just go ahead try stuff... The way I see it, a pretty map does NOT equal a pretty town (and the other way around). Some maps look amazing but the island is just blank besides the terraforming and unpractical.

@limber shadow Don't try to do so much at once, that's probably why you're getting so overwhelmed. Just work on small areas every day and then leave the rest for another day. It's not a race, you don't need to finish the island in a set time. Just take it slow and eventually you'll get there, don't worry man

I'm gonna be honest, I wouldn't clear everything off your island. I made that mistake and had to delete it. Its a lot harder to build up from a flat clear island than it is to add onto already natural stuff. I had a hard time trying to make things like cliffs and water seem or feel natural.

I wanted to go for a Forestcore island with a beach (and bamboo/palm jungle) area and a Cottage town for my townie villagers. This is what I came up with. I like it as a first draft or a rough idea, but problem with island planners when going for a more natural theme is that you’re only looking at the bigger picture and not actually how it’ll look in game, so it can often end up looking very manmade. Personally I flattened my island, made my entrance that I had a rough idea of, and then moved from there, but I understand it doesn’t work for everyone

One thing I wanna mention though is to make rivers a lot curvier and possibly split a few waterfalls
