I need an opinion. For a house (Drago in this case) that has the beach on two sides. Would it look better to have the house by the sand or have a yard by the sand?
Also should I put the house further back to give him a big yard or just a smaller side yard? (Phoebe's house used for visial) I plan to have a vertical line along the west beach of 3-4 houses depending how many I can fit, since I don't have any better ideas for house placements.

I played animal crossing back in the day on the Gamecube, and I just got this game about 3 days ago or so, but I was wondering if my island design goal is something that can be realistically achieved. I want to make my island designed around being a fortress/castle town, but I don't really know if that's a realistic design goal, as I know that later on you can terraform you island, I just don't really know to what extent or if I am thinking too big lol

i think crowding the area with bushes, trees, flowers, weeds, and mushrooms/mushroom furniture is a good start, as well as using items like dollhouses turned around so they look like tiny houses for the gnomes would be cute!

ah, well one idea I've found works pretty well for clutter is putting a bush to the side of a tree and a fence in front, like the barbed wire fence for example!

i try to set up a colour scheme and see if both the villager and it's house match with it, because let's say it'd be weird to see judy on a dark- themed island right? she's full of pastel colours and her house is also really bright. usually it's not hard to find villagers with a specific colour theme since all of the villagers' colours match with their houses somehow ^~^

Placing bridges and inclines becomes so much easier once you get land and waterscaping. It's ridiculous that you need to place a minimum amount of each to even unlock the ability, knowing you'll most likely have to delete them eventually.

You could do a bar (I have a rock bar all drinks are served on the rocks lol), a karaoke area, an art studio, outdoor movie theater, music area, a farm, orchard, rock area, outdoor library, arcade (like you said), a crafting area, a alien research area, a hobo area, boardwalk, etc.

@woven drift I'm a fan of the decay brick path or if you want to use the built in path, circles are good to help make the path flow better. For my natural island look, I grouped trees together and added weeds, flowers, and wood stakes to make it look like it was cut back to make a path. If you want to keep the houses all in that area, you could make a cute shape with them or randomize them more. I like placing houses in a way that will compliment my terraforming. For instance, you could put a house on the level above then make the river split and loop back if you have enough for one more bridge.

Still, the area below my RS is actually a good attempt at filling the space between it and the beach. You'll see. You might be able to translate it into a path to your airport.

It doesn’t sound silly. I just deleted my island and have been looking for the perfect one for 16 hours because my other island wasn’t “it” so I get it. And I always start with the enterance and work my way back that way my island has a good “flow to it”

i guess the best way to describe my theme was i was going for a foresty hiking trail aesthetic with cottagecore while keeping the whole “i’m on a camping trip” vibe lol so putting houses on that seems off-putting i guess

It's up to you obviously but check where the river mouths are, and the secret beach

Like I love my island now, but if I could restart i personally would not have done 2 south river mouths and my secret beach was in front of a heart shaped pond that I didn't want to demolish lol

Why not 2 south rivers? I restarted and I have 2 south rivers now, but idk if there are some difficulties with it

It's just my personal preference because I realized as I started terraforming that the land next to those river mouths were thinner than I would have liked to build on. And I'm stubborn and I didn't want to just cover up the rivers lol some people do that whic is fine, just not my personal preference

Some people really like symmetry too, so those work great for them!
