Hey pals! I have a Dilema. I am remodeling my whole residential area. I want them to have pretty backyards, so I put 8 of them in the same area by pairs. My issue is that, with this layout, some of them are not centered, but thanks of that, there's the same distance between the main road (two color dirt) and the houses. But the house in the left has a backyard of 2-1-2, and the right one has a backyard of 3-1-1, and is not symmetrical AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

@burnt osprey Thats a good idea, and also get those public benches that are blue to go around the ice rink! and if you can add a fence around the ice area so it looks more realistic coming from a skater myself. You could also use those soccer goals in the redeem nook miles section as hockey nets . Goodluck!

@woven drift I think the clash of brick and stone is throwing me off a little bit but it doesn't look bad. Does it serve a purpose? (i.e. is it leading up to anything other than just the top of the waterfalls you have there?) If not then maybe get rid of it, it's not bad but it's pretty close the the bridge.

@hollow prism I mean if you think that resetting is going to be worth it then I’d say go for it, but getting everything again is absolutely the worst and takes so much time again. And it’s easy to build back up cliffs and you can probably look up a picture of a map similar to your original to do the rivers sorta natural again

@vernal oxide I honestly disagree, I restarted but Im a lot happier with my island now 😊 you can always ask someone to save the bells and nmts and important things on their island then pick up the stuff once you reset, that's what I did

don't let what Envy said stop you, it's your decision and if you're unhappy with the layout etc right now you'll be happier after resetting I think

@strong wigeon that is true, and idk if you saw my other message but I told them they should restart if they thought it would be beneficial. But I’ve started over on a brand new switch. I even saved my items, bells, NMTs, villagers, BUT you still have to go through the whole story, build the island up again and IMO it’s not worth it. Any island can be rebuilt and I’ve seen plenty of people do amazing and gorgeous things with their island when they absolutely hated it. I did not discourage, I gave a personal opinion and advice

Depends on what you want to do with the free space. Do you want a walk path past his house? If yes, should it be 1 or 2 tiles big (I usually go for 2 tiles, many fairy core things often use 1 tile paths too tho). If no, how do you wanna block it off. Have some more spooky items besides his house to block it off (thus maybe needing 2 tiles) or just a few on both sides?

I saw pics of people using black bird cages and black throughbacl skull radios with his house, which looked really cool. Those might be ideas for besides his house

@icy juniper if you're going for natural & cottagecore you should def try to make the river more curvy/natural looking instead of straight, as that makes it look like a canal & city-like. Also try building up more cliffs that are rounded/irregularly shaped and create pathways between them

I need advice..... I got a three star island and I want to make it flat and then decorate it and make it a theme but I really can’t be motivated. I havnt played in like 2 months just because I can’t be bothered doing the makeover. I think it’s because idk what to theme it and idk what and how I’m gonna get all the decor and stuff.

@woven drift my advice is to flatten one area at a time so you dont lose motivation or become overwhelmed. And if youre looking for an island theme here are some examples but i can send more if youd like: tropical, cottagecore, city/urban, japanese city, japanese rural, kidcore city, natural, overgrown, or maybe you can base your island off ur fav movie. also a good websites to find items is villagerdb and nookazon so you can see all the funriture items accessible at this time and figure out what u want to do! (sorry for this being so long haha)
