I have this oddly shaped area right behind my town hall (where the bottom hedges are) that I wanted to turn into a seasonal park (where I can switch the items out to be themed like the current season) but its not really working the way I wanted it to and im not sure what to do. I usually like neatly planned areas with a sort of white theme but this has turned into a mess tbh so please if anyone has any suggestions or advice on how I can fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

@whole zodiac hmm, i have a couple of suggestions. i like the seasonal item idea, but the palm trees you have say "summer" to me, and the rest of the items and flowers say "spring" since they're mostly pastel colors and you don't see those very often in the summer. maybe take some inspiration from the seasonal DIYs? the summer shell seasonals aren't great but there's a lot of shell DIYs that you can use to fill that space. then in fall you can make it trees bounty/mush themed, and in winter frozen themed, etc. just an idea!

@worldly ginkgo yea but you either spend a lot of time on overrated symmetry or you build most of your island and take an hour or two to do it.

The basic idea behind this is that rocks spawn on sand dirt and grass. And that walls and items and such block them

@pallid gale i would start with deciding on an outline first, then a concept. move all the buildings that you need out of the way when you want to terraform an area. i would advice against resetting the island or flattening it unless you're new or totally hate the placement of the townhall or river outputs. plenty can be done to work around those issues but to some, it's better to reset.

@small rover depends on what type of terraforming you're going for, but in general smoothing out corner pieces of cliffs or making cliff faces look more jagged is always a good start if you want your island to look more natural, and so does keeping a width limit on your waterfalls. The islands I've seen with the crazy waterfalls (that look like walls, or completely enclosed) normally have more city-like or mixed type themes going on. It's kind of hard to give specific tips unless you give us some examples of what you think looks good 😮

going around various dream islands made me realize how dependent people are on flowers and waterfalls to decorate a collectively large chunk of their island. nothing against flower fields and waterfall scenes/entrances but sometimes it's so excessive.

that said i worked a lot to decrease my use of waterfalls since it limits creativity in the long run
