Something i used to have on my island was a truck outside the shop that would be like for deliveries and caged carts

From the track builds I’ve seen, people just cross them instead of traversing from end to end. And then they view the tracks from the front or back. So if you can frame it so you can’t actually see the end, that works!

But I have seen some people make a little tunnel build at the end so it looks like the tracks lead into it. It’s super cool!

I’ve seen others make it look like it’s a dead end, and it’s under construction or the tracks are abandoned.

Another option is just putting a fence and making a build in front of the tracks to cover the fact that it abruptly ends. And use trees to frame it.

I did the last option. One end of the train track can be seen at the beginning of the video but there’s other stuff distracting the eye from noticing it. And the other ends of the train track at the end of the video is really hidden behind buildings and trees.

I personally believe that having the following is a must next to Nook's: storage shed, workbench, and ABD. On a lesser note: a donation box/piggy bank, a trash bin, and a stove. Then, I stage it around my nook's believably. After that I pretty it up. It doesn't even need to be right next to it, as long as it's nearby.

Thought it'd be fun to expound on this. This is my Nook's. I numbered it sorta chronologically. Long post sorry

Black arrows: I am pro path of travel. I need to press B and run everywhere on my island. So I knew I had to avoid blocking a large chunk of the space.

1. I knew I wanted a storage shed, workbench, and ABD. I placed it where it felt most natural. I prioritized the shed and bench more than the ABD, placing it further away.
2. This is a clifftop river. I make a point of not blocking waterways if possible. I know I haven't built all creature models, and I know I will host for fishing sometimes. So I placed flowers as a border, so it's still accessible while having a "fence" on the pathway.
3. I knew I'd be playing late nights. Having a trash can would be useful, and placing it next to the drop off box made the most sense.
4. I LOVE giving my villagers something to interact with. Benches and beds are perfect for that. The bench makes sense, but how do I add a bed? Let's use cardboard as if they're getting a delivery!
5. For visitors, Nook's is probably the number 1 place to visit. Having a donation box is just nifty to have. It's right there for kind people

The newest addition is the tree on the right. I don't do orchards — I think they're a waste of space, so I dot around fruit trees as naturally as possible. With some finessing (aka the tree cliff glitch), I managed to add a tree here. It did mean doing several believable edits:

• the diy bench was changed to be small so I can shake the tree
• the fencing that used to run from end to end had to be shortened to allow fruits to fall
• to make the empty fencing on the right look better, I took out fencing on the left and added the clock for symmetry
• I placed a funny design on the weirdly empty grass that needs to exist for the fruit to fall onto. This way it looks intentional, not just functional

I believe the mannequins need to have a design on them for them to block a 3x3 square, and then you have to cover the entire island except where you want them to spawn. Put a throwaway design like a red X on them. Best part is when you're done, just delete whatever throwaway design you put on the mannequins and they all vanish at the same time.

Been moving this rock around for a few days now. Yes I'm familiar with the mannequin trick but all my rocks have been settled for 6 years now so moving this one rock, I figured it might spawn in a spot that I hadn't thought of before

Anyways it just spawned in a spot that I hadn't thought of before. Though my biggest hesitation is that it's taking up a huge space next to Eugene's house. Idk

I marked where my rocks are on the map. Pink is where the rest are, blue is where the sixth rock currently is, and green is where I thought it'd be best (it's basically where it used to be anyways).

Eugene's gonna have a garage band in his yard, if that matters. So lots of space for instruments. Ugh. Idk. Basically a choice of aesthetic or practicality (which is my eternal struggle anyways).

I'm still on my one and only island from March 2020. I never flattened my island or did large terraforming, and stopped in 2021. I came back just to check out the hotel and it being Happy Home: Free Edition I already knew it was never going to keep me long.

I'm unsure if you're talking about creating a new island or Resetti, but for me pressing the red button on my island with Resetti absolutely brought me back to the game. I've been playing daily since. January to now and I'm still enjoying it.

Don't fight against it. Incorporate it into a larger square. You can decorate it with town and park items, making it useful by having a diy or free/trade area, bringing down nook's so it's a little more accessible (it doesn't have to be next or on it), etc. You can always adapt it to whatever your aesthetic is, if you have one.

I doodled three different sizes it could be, but these are only suggestions.

My personal experience as someone who doesn't even have that close of a resident services but opted to do a large modular town square has been very positive. The collage is just some of the iterations my entrance and the surrounding area took on over the last 6 years. (Red constantly changes, blue not so much any more as community died down)

But I personally hosted a lot back then and enjoy switching out decorations when the seasons change and the holidays come. So while for me the modularity is perfect, yours and others don't have be that way and can stick to the one thing you want it to permanently look like.

Yeah that's perfect too! You can see my able and nook's are actually not next to my town square either. I made a point to make points of interest into a circle you can run a lap around so everything should be easy to get to.

I only suggested moving yours an easy example to do, if that makes sense. But work with what you want to do most importantly

oh? it's just the normal moon haha! every night it might look a bit different. some days it's gonna be a full moon, another time it might not be visible because it's on the opposite side, or covered by clouds. the sky is pretty realistic and i think it follows similar patterns as the moon in real life. if you look up to the sky in the game every now and then at night, i'm sure it looks the same for you

Sanibel is inspired by places I've been on vacation, it was my OG 2020 island and was named after a beach I love visiting in Florida when our trip there was canceled in 2020.
Currently the only thing I'm super happy with is the Grand Canyon area with the campsite. But it's still rather small.

Basically don't go against it by trying to wall off the tiny space you have to work with. You can do a larger, central plaza or town square.

i do it section by section, based on what i want. Like if im really inspired by a part of an island tour i watched i’ll do that little bit then move on to a new area later so i dont get burned out. I personally dont plan my whole island i just make parts i like then do transition areas in-between later.

I think it all depends on if you’re going for a theme or not! You can just place items you like or plant some flowers, shrubs, etc if you’d like to add more to the space ^^ custom design paths are also a neat way to add some design/color to the area!

I think it’s good to have areas already planned like this so once you do have the furniture you want, you can add as you go. Also also there’s a couple out ACNH “planner apps” there (it’s based on personal preference which one to use) which some can let you make a wishlist of furniture you want to keep an eye out for 👀👀

If you have enough space, you could try to make a cul de sac with the rest of the houses or you could place the villager houses but also make fake buildings to help separate them if you have enough space, so that they won’t be next to each other.

I like to search on Pinterest or YouTube for inspiration. I start with looking for inspiration for whatever theme I’m doing. I also look at other themes and if I see something I like, I try to recreate it but also make it my own in order to fit the theme I’m doing.

If you haven't flattened your island, that's good and I suggest working with what's there and editing it as your needs come to you
I always warn people about flattening their island
Sure the benefits of a blank canvas is that you're working with, well, a blank canvas but that's also exactly the problem, because you have no clue what to do with it and you're gonna rack your brain trying to do the biggest part of any "drawing" and it's knowing how to compose it
...that said, if you've already flattened your island I don't have much to contribute outside of what's already been suggested

There's also no shame in copying existing layouts tbh, and like I suggested earlier editing it as your needs come to you

They can be placed on walls which I like so they have a little shelf they sit on and yeah it is nuts on how many there are but I find putting them in the storage is a good way to organise through the different colours and types!

I levelled my island and worked from the ground up with segments as looking at it as a whole is very overwhelming. Then ask yourself key questions about buildings. (Close together or far, general themes, sections like a shopping district or housing area) and another question is what theme do you want( city/ village/forest/fantasy) and see where you end up. Dm me if you want futher detail but I feel those are a good place to start!

They’re so lovely and handy that you can have a tree that you can just move around as you please if that makes sense but it’s not got an annoyingly square base like the ash tree

i would suggest if you have an idea of what your island to be (as far as where everything is/the island flow), flattening would be a good idea if you want to put in the effort. alternatively, if its just a vague idea of what you want in your head but you know you dont like your current stuff, i would reset/try to find a new island with a terraforming base you like better
