I need some opinions. Do those two blanket codes look well together? I’ve spent about 30 minutes trying to find a code or two that looks good in this area. Part of me thinks it looks fine. Part of me also thinks that the rectangular code is too bright.

I do think the white too bright and I have seen similar codes so I get you can't reverse the "blankets". Try and place whatever you are going to on top of it and see if that helps somewhat.

totally could use some help! so im in the middle of doing my island for the first time (I took about a year and a half break after swapping switches, islands, ect.) and im not very good at terraforming, or designing. my idea was to make a heart shaped river with me and my boyfriend's houses in the center, which I did, and I attempted to make a hello kitty shaped upper layer in the corner, however I really dislike how it looks, and im not sure of which items I should use for designing and decorating my island

I like to use a lot of things like streetlights, traffic signals, scaffolding (behind items etc) triangular tropary bushes, sheds, and the retro transportation stations come in so handy when making walls for shops etc but if you want something more modern and clean looking try using large display cases with white tokonomas behind - makes for a really new sleek looking shop desplay or wall

@earnest field things like this from my island might help? drink and snack machines add a lot to an environment to create a lively feel to a space and I love adding the big signal tower things in the background - helps pull it all together and really create that city effect

I need some opinions. For my next theme, I plan on using a road code that is cracked and worn down. Should I place a dirt path under it or just place the design down as is? I like both, so I’m having trouble figuring out which direction I should go in. I’m doing a Halloween Post Apocalyptic Kidcore island (essentially an abandoned kidcore island with Halloween decorations and stuff) if that matters any.

Paths are nice to see on the map! But if it affects your path design, I think it’s cool to skip applying dirt underneath. It’ll also be much faster to apply your custom designs without the dirt.

check out if your favorite design has a transparent pixel. If so, it will be restricted to the form of the path underneath, which could be a really pain in the aaattic, if you want to change something, because you not only have to change the design, but also the underlying path. Been there, done that. I choose to mostly put the design at the grass or choose designs without blank pixels

and some designs change color, if they have a spare pixel or not, this is also very annoying

here you can see some of the problems with an underlying path

in original every part of the design seems to have the same color, but if they have a transparent pixel they can change color and appearance if used on a path

and parts of the design can be cut off

Hello! I am designing my very first (VERY FIRST!!) island and I've received a lot of YouTube/TikTok/Pinterest education as well as researched what type of theme I want, but I'm having an extraordinarily difficult time finding a starting point and following through with the remainder of the island entirely since I've become overwhelmed with the options— if I like it enough (I am indecisive), and not knowing the next steps.

I was told to start by doing the entrance, which I did months ago, but as I hinted at before, I just didn't know where else to follow through.

Hey, every island starts off looking like trash, it will eventually turn out great, I´m sure of it!
Planning like that and making a rough sketch of what you want is a good start, and wish you best of luck in your progress. know it takes time tho, and you may not be fully satisfied, but dont give up

i have two ideas! in my island i have a flower duplication area, its like an orchard but you keep 1 of each flower type so you can always have the flower types you need. mine used to be right next to my orchard, its very suiting because it has the same vibe (?

Also, in my island i always like to keep a "clean" area to decorate for seasonal stuff, like christmas or maybe summer themed or valentines day, that white thing is way to big imo but its just an idea.

I mapped things out and it helped a bit but it's so hard to tell how things will look with a top down view. Any tips for overcoming commitment issues or step-by-step planning?

As for commitment issues, you could set alarms and set aside time on specific days where you have a flexible schedule. It really helps to have a dedicated schedule.

@sharp mist My suggestion to look at inspo online and figure out what you like so for example, if you gravitate toward more natural vibes then look at that, if you like city then look at that. If you can't decide like me then do a mix of everything you like (My island is a WIP of city & natural). Point being, try to figure if there are any themes you like. I like to start at my entrance since it helps set the mood for the rest of the island. I tend to think about big picture then get small like do I want a specific shape on my map for land (I prefer a lot to be on the 2nd level) or what general location do I want things like my house should be bottom right. Hope that helps!

Regardless of all that if planning overwhelms you, just have fun with it. Nothing is stopping you from redoing your whole island if you get board of it. 😄

@hybrid lintel I also something similar to this. I tend to care about how my map looks so I started by drawing random shapes for terraforming that I liked (I mainly like 2nd level) until I was happy with the general shape then tried to figure out general placement of things like house top left. I tend not to be specific on my map but instead will do the entrance then plan out the rest from there since I have a connection point between how much space the entrance takes up vs my map vs how to connect it. Hope that kinda helps!
