well you cant plant crops like pumpkins on custom designs, so if you want a dirt path to plant things on you'd have to buy it with nook miles. if i remember correctly you also have to have your island at 3 stars to unlock the island designer that unlocks the paths as well if you dont already

Access the Design Portal (via able sisters or NookPhone) you do need NSO, though. Then type in a creators/design code or criteria search for whatever you’re looking for. Tons of codes are posted here and on various social medias. Click on whatever one you want and find a slot. Then if you want to put it on your island, NookPhone > Custom Design icon > click the design > display on ground

I have a very small, simple question that I'm asking just out of sheer curiosity. Why is it that on some custom design paths, people will leave one, singular transparent pixel? It seems to be on purpouse with how many people do it, and I'm just curious to know what its for and why they do it.

it depends on what the design is, but as far as i can tell, they decide to do it depending on whether they want it to conform to an in-game path or maybe if they want the colour of the grass underneath to affect how it looks. if i remember right, if you place like a blanket path with a missing pixel on grass, it'll look slightly different in colour than if you were to place it with no transparent pixel.

It's not much work, I happend to have it set to Japanese at the time for another reason! Kanji doesn't seem to be possible to type, and katakana/hiragana gave the same results, and I already tried it without the 坊や part. Good luck, I hope you find it!
