Flies are rare, so it takes some patience! You could just place them somewhere you pass frequently, and within a few days you’ll probably notice one. But, if you’re trying to speed it up a bit, there are a couple things to try or keep in mind:

1. Have your net out and approach slowly - they can be hard to notice right away, and I definitely scared a few off the first time I tried catching one!
2. If you don’t see a fly on the trash, do some laps around your island or enter & exit a building. (This can sometimes help, but it will still take some time due to their low spawn rates.)

You can have 14 "unnatural" dropped items on the floor without consequences , if you want to spawn bug, my advice is to drop it near your home (on a diggable surface) and just enter and leave your home to have it spawn. I actually have no idea if it works on mystery islands

If you play online with others, villagers they have voided (which mean they've let them move out with no one adopting them) can move into what's known as your "Move-in queue", which is an invisible queue that holds up to 4 villagers which the game will move into your empty plots if you don't find someone yourself.

It is always recommended you hunt for a villager on the day your plot is empty to ensure the game doesn't autofill the plot, as any subsequent days after the initial day of the empty plot have a chance for a villager to move in automatically. This chance is 100% if you have villagers in your queue, and as there's no way to check if you do have villagers in there or not, its always safest to assume you do and hunt on that very first day of the empty plot

Not really unfortunately. They spawn differently from the regular bug spawning system. Info about how they spawn can be seen here: https://acnh.isomorphicbox.com/rates/#fleas but end of the day, you're looking at at most a 1% chance of spawn each hour where the flea is in season (so long as all the spawning criteria is met)

You're absolutely certain you're not missing trees when shaking?
There should be 5 wasps, 2 furniture and 15 bell drops
They fill in that order too (so if you only had 4 trees and shook them all, the next day they'd fill only with Wasps, if you had 6, 5 would fill with wasps and 1 furniture ect)

The way you describe it sounds likely that you're forgetting a tree somewhere that was filled with a wasp nest
Make sure to check all your trees that are surrounded by furniture or fences, I tend to forget those that are part of the decor like this when I shake mine

I think wasp nests and other items also don't drop if there isn't any tile for it to drop onto at the base of the tree, so make sure there's space at the base

It is randomized, so it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours or even days. Just make sure to follow every step, and just have some patience. It’s a method that occurs naturally in-game, so there’s not much that can go wrong. You’ll get it eventually

I closed without saving before ending the conversation, so it’s like I didn’t talk to them. But I was wondering if it’s better to ignore them or to talk to them and say no?

If you say no have have to wait 5 days but you are sure this villager will not ask next, until you say no to anyone else. If you ignore it it can be them again. If you don't talk to them they will not move. If you didn't say yes they cannot move.

1. Play the stalk market: buy turnips at a low price and sell them high.
2. Dive and catch sea creatures to sell back to Nook's Cranny.

I think the game sets your first pattern to Small Spike the first time you buy turnips just so you're unlikely to lose out on your money the first time around. After that it doesn't matter too much

Some sites may also ask what your pattern was last week only because it has a slight effect on what the pattern is in the current week, but they should have an "I don't know" option (the site Nours mentioned does this) and it won't change things too massively other than it may take a bit more data to pinpoint your pattern for the week

Is it worth saving up to get the better bridges/inclines that are more stylized, or just buy the cheapest thing I can at this stage, and then replace them later with the better or more colorized ones after I get to a 3 star island/later into the game?

Historically, the servers undergo maintenance when an update is about to release. Nintendo needs to make sure all their online servers are on the correct version of the game to allow everyone to keep playing so in order to do this, they temporarily shut down the servers to get them updated

It will have no overall effect, just a couple hours of not being able to use the online services in game. Once done there'll likely be an update for you to download, just do that and you're all good to play online again

No, it still has whatever villager is in your queue.

The plot just stays open for one day, before it gets filled the next day with whoever is in the queue.

It's not "saved" on the plot, it's a piece of information that's saved in your save file, and the game reads from this to stop the 4 villagers from spawning on mystery islands.
