The hairstyles depend on the shop that recently opened; you should unlock a set hairstyle on the same day a shop opens. I'm not quite sure where to find which one unlocks which, but they are tied to which shop just opened
(On a side note, I personally always unlocked them a day after unlocking the corresponding shop instead of the same day, somehow...)

I'm on house #28 and I just learned I'm supposed to place materials in the box upstairs for Nikko to use and afterwards give me a pillar or counter diy. A day ago. I tt an extra day to see about the box. So in game I'm on day like 5 even tho it's actually been 4 irl. Day 3 he gave speech, day 4 got pillar and counter wooden diy and today, supposed to be able to start putting items in but nothing. Just got Tom nooks visit to allow me access to my catalog and also access to ABD for poke conversion.
