Basically. NMTs roll first for species which may affect chances. Like if there are 15 dogs and 8 frogs, finding a specific frog is more likely than a specific dog. But aside from that it’s all equal chances

There isn't a right or wrong way to do it, all up to your personal preference. If you enjoy planning then one pro to doing that is you'll invest less time in terraforming that otherwise comes with experimenting. But if you prefer to go with the flow, improvise, that can totally work too and you could be pleasantly surprised. Either way, it should never be more stressful than it is fun.

You have to not time travel backward if you bought turnip. Whether they are in your pocket or dropped /buried.
The trick described is to find good prices, and must be done without turnips.
After you found a good price you need to get turnip from another island

How do villagers work, as in, how do they show up to my island. It was my belief that they had to be searched out via either NMTs or by visiting other peoples islands as their villagers were moving out and talking to them, but I have only used a couple NMTs and have never visited another players island. However, I have filled out all of the land that I set aside for houses, one of the villagers being from someone elses island (they came over for a trade).

You can have a maximum of 10 villagers. Once all your plots are full, you must have a free plot before searching islands with NMTs. Villagers will occasionally visit your campsite and you can adopt them by playing a game with them. They will randomly pick a villager to move out.

Plots will automatically be filled if you don't fill them yourself, You have whats known as a Move-In Queue, where you have up to 4 villagers collected from other players Move-Out Queue (aka the void). If they let their villager leave, it goes to this void and remains there (up to 10 villagers in the void), and whenever they play online with another user, a villagers moves from this void into the other players MIQ. So whenever you leave an empty plot, the game tries to fill from this Queue, and will do until its empty. Then when its empty, the game rolls to fill the spot automatically, which can take a while sometimes. Its always best to hunt within the first day of having an empty plot to avoid autofills though

some of the coconut hugging stags are pretty rare, clearing the island of flowers and other trees can remove other bugs from spawning and increase your likelyhood but it can still just be rng, i wouldn't know why you wouldn't have found any after such a long time though otherwise

@vale stump You can sort of count the spaces. The museum is 7 spaces wide, plus staircases 2x2, and 1x2 cliffs for the stairs, so at least 13 spaces wide. For length you want at least 4 spaces away from the waterfall, so 13(W)x9(L)? Something like that.

there's a lot less of them in general during fall/winter. my guess would be your island doesn't have a lot of open space / flowers / trees, since many of them need one or more of those things to spawn. might need to use mystery islands or Kappn islands to find them more easily
