The best tips we can offer are to be patient, ensure you are in the right season and time frame for the critter to show up (search their name on https://catalogue.ac for details), and if you're looking for a fish, to use fish bait.

If the method is not working. Just sync back to real time. Talk to all your villagers. Get a moving house kit from tom nook of the villager you don’t want to leave so the randomness will only pool from 8 villagers instead of 10 cause most recent won’t ask and a villager who’s relocating at the moment will not ask as well. Then saved and tt 15 days and do the bubble hunt and the process again. Make sure it’s not the target’s birthday or any villager’s birthday

The last to move in will not ask, and not the last denied either, so it becomes a pool of 7 as long as the kit is not for the last you denied or the last to move in.

Might be a good idea to deny one before starting the big moveout TT-ing, so you know exactly who it is. Pick ones with a little lower relationship to deny and to get the kit for, for the best chances.

Guides say that return gifts from villagers can be photos if you're level 5+ friendship and the sell value of your gift is over 750 bells. Is that cumulative? For example, a single Orange Pumpkin sells for 350 bells, but if I were to gift a stack of 3 Orange Pumpkins (1050 bells) would that qualify for the 750+ requirement?

The first time you talk to them its like they are meeting you for the first time.
