Yes, the 1st time i did it I bought the turnips for 93 bells each and the i found out a player island where i could sell them for 500 bells each, just keep an eye in the turnips visits during the week to find the best price to sell for (but i think you Nintendo pass to go to other players islands, if you don't have it you just need to check the price everyday in your island)

There are two, the one that acts as a pet when placed (not in a container) is the snapping turtle. They have a shadow size of 4 so similar to a black bass shadow. They will appear in the river. You could use fish bait to force spawn in a fish in front of you so that you can speed up the process. They're a pretty rare spawn so it could take a lot of time for you to get it
