The main causes of this are usually one or more of the following:
• Too many (usually animated) items, especially whilst in one area (commonly critters or flowers)
• Too many waterfalls

If you're experiencing island lag, try changing up your layout! Most commonly, that is the issue.
Unfortunately, these issues cannot be prevented with existing dream islands unless the creator optimises their island.

Oh, yeah, you can change the appearence of cloth with customization kits, even for items that can't be crafted. It's usually used for crafted items, Nook should show you how to use those kits soon if you talk to him and then they're available at Nook's shop.

Alright, been talking to a campsite villager for 30 minutes now. She STILL WON'T ASK TO MOVE IN!!! Do I just have horrible luck or what?

Yes, if you have 10 villagers, they can be invited, they'll ask to replace a random villager

I always get ugly villagers at my campsite, so I've never had to do this before. Had the game since launch, but this is all new for me lol

I’ve had problems with this before (mainly just winning the card games & getting them to nominate the right villager to leave). Usually playing the games with them to win items like clothing first then continuing to talk to them should trigger it eventually.or even exiting the tent and going back in works sometimes.
