#I've never used GPU as it has always
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
My old CPU is now greayed out in 2021. Was ok to use in 2020?
It used to take maybe 15 minutes to bake my whole scene before
It gave a very nice ambient occlusion and baked GI
Weirdly enought it now shows a baked lightmap, even though I cancelled the baking
So it looks like everything is alright.
i would recommend, that you change the Lightmap resolution from your 19.1 to 2
and try a bake
and have a look if you get some console errors
Not sure, still every time it bake it's super slow and just adding hour after when "preparing bake"
Do you have any idea why my maching baked this whole lightmap in 15 minutes on CPU before??
nope.
CPU is way slower than GPU.
As long as your machine has a decent GPU
Your is an integrated graphics card so it might be worse
I tested it with a M3 and its maybe 20% slower than my rtx 3070
But 2 hours for this small scene is even with a Mac GPU not normal
can you test a bake in a new scene with maybe 50 cubes and a plane?
Current situation
I'm telling you I had it on Pregessive CPU earlier and it was never a problem
with which settings?
i know ^^
But i dont know why CPU is deactivated in the 2021 and higher.
On the M3 where i tested it, it was deactivated also
And i didnt find any google info
It's so strange. I used it fine on the same machine in 2020.
But still why the hell is my GPU with M2 this freaking slow?
i cant tell. Like i said on my mac M3 it was just 10-20% slower than the RTX 3070
baked a scene bigger than yours in 2 minutes
Also experiencing way more crashes with 2021.3 now. Starting to regret this update
why did you upgrade to 2021 and not 2023?
Because some of my assets exploded. So had to keep it there. Also particles system apparanetly change a lot. Don't have bandwidth for all those fixes
How can I see if Unity is not using my M2 properly?
I think it's tough to get any precise data from that
Usually updating drivers and restarting editor/machine is the one thing that helps
And the only thing you can do for most issues
Particle System did not change, but VFX Graph was introduced as an alternative
2021 has it also
I tried 2022 and a lot of my particles and VFXs broke. I can of course try this again.
