#not a very big scene, and currently

a lot ๐
I placed 3 point lights in every corridor and 9 point lights in every office room (which is currently 3)
is there a more efficient way to create an area light?
the area option says "baked only" and doesn't really do anything
yeah, because you need to bake it! ๐
But yea, thats quite a bunch of point lights
if you want a global light, you could use the environment light.
It has a "gradient" option which lights up the whole scene.
how do I bake the area lights?
oh just using the button on the lighting window
is there no option to use area lights like regular lights? with a live preview, I mean
No
To bake lights, make sure your objects are set to static, otherwise they dont receive baked light
aw man
is there any other way to light a wide area without using a lot of point lights or baking an area light?
yep ๐
hm. I will try that
oh but that doesn't cast shadows at all
thats right
@steep quartz hey, I tried to go back to skybox lighting and reduced the amount of spotlights in the scene to like, 12, but my performance is still bad. any idea what's going on?
I disabled all the lights that aren't in use. should I just delete them? or that doesn't affect performance?
How many FPS do you have? And how many Batches?
how do I see that?
nvm, I just quit the scene and didn't save
cost me like 3 hours of work but would probably be less of a headache and time waste than to fix this mess
thanks for your help!
