My quick GDD for the game
Working title - Z. Rhapsody
Game Identity / Mantra:
Stylized action game about a mercenary fighting against his past and emotions to save people who matters most to him now.
Design Pillars:
Stealth.
Choice Based.
Action-packed.
Genre/Story/Mechanics Summary:
The main character is a mutated mercenary, who is an expert assassin who can move extremely fast in a special mode.
He can also consume an enemy to take their identity and memories, that can be used to easily win the level, but will end up making us the villain of the story.
The player can also try the pacifist path, where we use a reverse sword to exhaust enemies to make them surrender, this way we end up earning respect from everyone.
How is it related to the theme?
We are stuck in a loop by the boss of the level, the game starts in the penultimate level that acts as the tutorial.
The story progression is in reverse order. To break the loop we need to fight through all the levels, presented to the player in reverse order.
In each loop our emotions are tampered and that’ll affect the world and hence the revisited areas will not feel repetitive.
Art Style:
I’m using UMA 2 for the models and UNITY Chan TOON SHADER 2.0 for achieving cel-shading.
Music/Sound:
I’m using FMod to add apadvite music to the game, and if time allows, might integrate it with a custom beat sequencer to make it more dynamic.
Platform: Windows / Linux(not sure)
NOTE: I will upload the source code to google drive and leave a link when the game is uploaded, as they say in Latin it’s a Ludum Dare, a game to give!
