Guys I need some help with my fan game. So basically I've reinstalled photon so many times and my player model will just not show up at all

I have two colliders of which one has a script attached to it which has OnTriggerEnter2D. Whenever they are colliding, instead of the log showing that the event is only triggerred once, it says that the event is triggerred atleast 3 times.

Sadly, just installing Photon does not instantly make your game multiplayer, which means it wont instantly make your player "show up" on the network, im guessing by "fan game" your referring specifically to gtag? If so im pretty sure they have a very specific modified SDK which would be something to ask a gtag development server, if its just about Photon in general, maybe you can try asking the Photon server or asking in #1390346492019212368 with a lot more detail on what you have, what you tried, and what is not working

Sounds like you might be using some specific SDK that is using a template for Photon, maybe go back through the tutorial again, if it worked before and its not working now, chances are you may have missed a step somewhere
It never told me to install an sdk it just said to download pun 2 free and the voice version of it and ofc some scripts and change will be settings and install some other stuff and it worked the first time

Ah, not too sure specifically who that is, but looking online it looks like their content is focused on VR with Photon, which is usually using some kind of SDK for VR and Photon to be integrated, so its possible you missed a step in that integration process (I dont develop for VR though this is just based on what you explained so far)

Hey guys suddenly all versions of unity are stuttering pretty bad for a few seconds after first clicking into the scene view or hitting play, even in freshly made empty projects (or in the case of hitting play, with just a camera controlled by a cinemachine input component).
I tried using the profiler in edit mode.... but it doesn't show any stutters or anything, which is weird.
I haven't changed anything on my system besides updating my graphics driver AFTER it started happening. Anyone else ever seen something like this?

What's the use of Ground color? Isn't it supposed to affect the color of objects on ground? I see no effect.

The skybox is used as a fallback color for reflections and indirect lighting

These shadows are not rendering properly. It flickers when I look up and down. Shadow is related to the mountain (terrain). Any way to fix it?

Depends on what you need, they could be simply following some preset spline curves, with some physics and randomization or I guess ML Agents for more advanced AI.

I just read that you need "lightmap UVs" for models I import in Unity if I want to bake lights.
If you were to import a new mesh without a lightmap UV, you’d need to create one or get Unity to automatically generate one before baking a lightmap.
Question: The automatically generated lightmaps work good enough?
Also, are these lightmap UVs different from the normal UVs we use for materials?
The option exists because light map uvs cannot overlap and sometimes uv0 (for materials) overlap or have other oddities.
Its also useful if your model has no uvs in uv0
When I create and export model to Unity, the UV I generated in Blender works fine for materials inside Unity. Is it called UV0?
Also, I think there's no overlapping in the UVs I generate.
A model can contain many uv sets. the first one is uv0 and what is normally used by shaders
If present unity uses uv1 for lightmapping and is also where unity generates its lightmapping uvs for a model
Yeah I can assign multiple in Blender. So the UV0 won't work for baking you need additional UV?
Is there any way to see in Unity itself how many UVs it has?

If you expand the model asset and inspect the meshes inside yes.
Uv0 is used if thats the only UV in the model
Look just try baking light without this. If stuff looks fucked or weird then enable this option and try again

You could try recreating retro/classic games like chess, pong, brickbreaker, space invaders, flappy bird, etc, or you can try creating a game around 1 mechanic from a game you like, or you could try making a game jam from previous themes (itch io always have plenty of game jams) or you can try taking one of the Unity Learn projects like "Roll A Ball" for example, and design more interesting gameplay for it - with each project, I would suggest to try and focus on one thing to practice, it could be how you handle source control, project and script organization, code patterns, art techniques, etc
It seems to work with default UV. However, the baked shadows were too soft and barely noticeable on these cubes. The cube on left is Unity Cube and the other cube and apples are made in Blender. Both had same issue. Then I increased these Lightmap resolution to 1000 and size to 4096 pixels. It seems to have made it much better.
But I guess those are too high numbers? Default Lightmap resolution is only 40.
Baking took around 5 minutes.
I don't think it's UV related issue at all. Because Unity Cube also had same issue. Only Terrain shadoes were dark enough by default.
Oh wait, is it because when baking Directional Light, there's just too much area to bake? Maybe that's why it needs way more data.
It seems to have baked entire Terrain tile in a texture.

properties are not inherently public, they obey the same access levels as other kinds of members (fields, methods, constructors, types)

no it's not at all, it always shows the same example where they make an object of a class and basically change the property's value

This is just a property with public getter and a private setter. Do you understand the accessor modifiers? Because there's nothing really special in terms of property concept in this example.

They're serving the same purpose in properties as everywhere else - determining where the specific thing can be accessed.

Because they're convenient. They make the code cleaner and the intent easier to understand. You could have getter/setter methods instead, like in Java, but they would overrun your whole file.

yeah it is basically the same doing text code in windsurf kind of feels the same as in visual studio but i think windsurf is more lightweight

chances things gonna break is quiet common if u go from 6.0 to 3.7
I mean.. probably, but there's always a chance something will need tweaking/ fixing. Just make sure you've got the latest changes pushed to github and you're fine aren't you.

Update to the latest 6.0, don't go to 6.3
i know but if u would upgrade from 6.0 to 3.7 that would be a quiet a leap things will break easier with big jumps like that

that's usually a good idea, but this bug means you'll need to update - go with a newer version of 6.0 and you'll still be ok for the tutorial
i know devs who still operate in the unity 2018 or if u really wanan go back i know people who even use unity 1.0 thats pretty ancient by now lol

u might have to fix some things when u open it not sure what kind of project that is but often if it contains files that were saved on the cloud then u woudnt have access to those cloud files so i assume there could be some fixes u need to tweak for the build but im not 100% sure

I am come from ue5 to unity
for 5 years
while its cool you have big ideas in mind, making a game like that takes literally several teams and workflows.. Start smaller.
if you have experience for 5 years in UE how you not know what software you need for the job 
You can make UI/UX in anything , including unity engine itself (UI Toolkit, uGUI, IMGUI etc)
Code only, art programs, mix of both etc.
Because I thought moving from old engine to new engine feels weird to me. also upgrading ue5 make my computer terrible. I cant properly use it because of lagging. I tried to use c++ but the computer shutdown, I cant use it properly now. Now I am moving to unity.

C++ is much more difficult to learn, so c# is a better option to start with

My computer is fine but epic launcher and ue 5.7 not fine. My pc : ryzen 5700g 16gb ram , 512 gb nvme, 512gb sata. I use it ue5.3 without coding and no lag issues. but blueprint was boring so I tried to use c++. And my pc cant handle now:( (Look, I never chat before in this discord, If I wrong something fix me. BTW I am 18 years old and 10 years art experience :))

anyhow if you want to switch to Unity then you need to use C# and any IDE that can handle both C# and Unity.
Common ones are Visual Studio, VS Code or Rider
That's why I say I have talking issue. I said when I open both ue5 and visual studio , It gets slow and heat.

16GB nowdays is pretty basic but should be fine for a while. I'd consider at least 32GB for gamedev

Unity is not the lightest weight engine but You can def develop decently with limited hardware, don't expect high definition without lag.. Thats why 2D is much easier to start with cause it arguably more lightweight assets
(the engine is still 3d)
Rendering quads is much easier than entire geometry of 100+ K tris
I will accept high definition without lag. Because I dont get issue with unity 6.3 and ue4.27
Yes UE 4.x was def better, it still running on my potato laptop
But its old and visual studio 2019 kinda outdated and out of support
VSC and its pretty lightweight compared to a full IDE like VS
texteditor with extensions vs full suite of tools
I never like that VSC. I have 3.5 years experience with pycharm and visual studio IDE.

Unity keeps using way too much memory according to task manager and I cannot find out why.
There is no memory leaks according to the console window, and according to the memory profiler, unity is only using 5GB while task manager is reporting 8GB.
I dont like it . One mistake confrige all gone.

The editor can eat lots of memory but its either user error or just that your project has too many assets in it
Memory profiler is the way to debug such things (in editor and builds)

Yes you would serialize an instance of your settings class to json then write this json to a file on disk

Realtime rendering has different considerations which is why 95% of the time only uv0 gets used for surface shading
@nocturne orchid btw you can solve this easier by separating out mesh pieces that need their own uv into objects (so theirs can become uv0 and work)

I have literally no idea what that could've been though. I've skimmed through anything relating to collisions twice now and it all looks exactly the same.
Same layers, same matrix, same settings on the components. I haven't changed a thing but the collisions have broken out of nowhere
You need to share some details of the problem, otherwise anyone would be guessing wildly
For example what does "broken" collision mean?
It's also possible that your setup was broken from the start and it just didn't manifest for some reason(luck/chance/framerate)
it's a rather simple setup in theory.
top down objects that shouldn't be able to collide with each other. Both have an RB2D, and a box collider 2D.
I created a "player" and "enemy" label just to see if that might do anything, it didn't.
these are the settings on both objects.
For some reason though the objects don't collide with each other. "Is trigger" when it's on doesn't do anything other than a different kind of collision that's also broken but I'll get to that after I've done this. And when it's off it doesn't fix the issue either.
It's as if somehow the project has swapped the rigidbody and the box colliders around with no way for me to figure out how to turn it back.

when the objects bump into each other, they should collide. Right now they're just hovering over each other

triggers are not physical colliders, they're just there to trigger OnTriggerEnter2D etc
If I disable the colliders it doesn't change the issue
if you disable the colliders then of course they won't collide
the rigidbody isn't doing anything
you need enabled, non-trigger colliders to collide
Rigidbodies don't collide without Colliders
Rigidbodies are not responsible for collision
they are responsible for the momentum part
so - so far everything sounds like it's working as expected

While I do think the current state is still far from it, in some areas, I think AI has already reached that point where it is as good as human made. For example music. The latest Suno model is producing some crazy quality stuff. I would totally think it's something from the top of the charts made by a human artist of I heard that on the street.
So I think the claim that AI generated stuff is never gonna be as good as human generated is a bit of wishful thinking...

I do have a decade of experience with programming and general content creation. I have started to spend some time with ai and at first it was really shit and annoying, but by the end of 2025 the updates have really solved that, it is a super useful assistant. I definitely wont just copy / paste, I enjoy writing my own code, but drag/dropping in some scripts into the chat and it telling me where a certain error happened is nice
anyways, imo quality is a much better metric than speed to aim for

I'd recommend trying agentic coding. Drag and dropping stuff into chat gpt is extremely inefficient both in terms of speed and quality. I don't mean that you should let it write all your code base, but if you DO use AI to some extent, it's better to use it smart.

Interesting. I get 'There are no assets' in the asset list area. Then at the bottom by the refresh button, it says 'Error refreshing assets'. Weird that the Unity status page is all green though
Does anyone know if I can get the PC, Mac, Linux Standalone build on unity 6 or was that replaced by something else. I worked with unity 2022 a year ago and idk what changed
Might be a version thing? Although I doubt services matter for Unity versions come to think of it
Sounds like you're missing the modules for macOS and Linux
I see that they've split those three platforms into their own entries in the new Build Profiles system
You always had to pick a target platform when using that though anyway, no?
so it would now be identical to just having a Windows build, a Linux build, or a Mac build

So the assets refresh did eventually give a error log: "[Package Manager Window] Error while getting product update details: 502 Bad Gateway. Something went wrong. Please try again later" - 502. lol
sounds like a server side issue

How would I know if the grahics will break on different platforms. I only have windows and I dont have a linux or mac

I'm making an enemy that moves constantly and throws a Cogwheel as a projectile. I've set up the avatars correctly (Generic. It worked before, so this should work as well) The blend tree works just fine.
The problem is that the arms don't move, and when they do they override the bottom and additive adds to the t-pose from the walk.

There seems to be some problems with the services regardless what those status sites say. Not much we can do other than wait

a simple service heartbeat would prove that it's not green, so how is that status page set up?
if a backend server fails to respond, that service status page should update
cause it usually takes some retries until a service page goes red, and for big services them going red is a manual thing, only the internal tools ring alarm bells automatically
