Hello Beta testers –

Welcome to the early (first) beta release for 🌌 Beyond E23: Supernova Aftermath 🌃 . It’s an early beta, so you will notice many things with placeholders or not final. Icons and final text and translations are not in yet. However, the generators are in the Tree and the Garden, we’ve done the initial balancing, and so could use your feedback!

• 4 new nebula generators to help you fill the objective to “dissect the remains of massive stars”
• 1 Astronomy mission, 2 new constellations
• 10 New achievements
• First Tuning pass on Episode 23
• Fixed: Cosmic Dust trait used placeholder icon.
• Fixed: fonts were different on the Galactic Nursery timers
• Fixed: Venus was not rotating backwards

We just had a production release, so there are only small changes in the rest of the game:

• Fixed an issue where some research nodes were not applying multiplayers correctly to the bees generator.
• Fixed an issue where the News feature would not appear early in the game after a Simulation Restart.

Two important reminders:

1. Translations are not implemented yet, so please change your language to English in order to play Episode 23.
2. The Beyond Reset is back on, so please keep in mind that the progress made on Episode 23 will be RESET on the next beta. This is important in order to improve the balance and tuning for the official release.

That's a good point, that summary is a bit loose. The generators are related to nebulas, but aren't necessarily nebulas themselves. ^_^

Devs: The mission to take a photo of Cygnus X-1 is a little broken. If one takes a picture of just the black hole, the mission objective is not met. Instead, one needs to take a photo of the black hole and the star (HDE 226868). Is that intentional? I think the mission text (objective) needs to match the actual task. Otherwise, it is a bit confusing.

My theory: Semblance is trying to find possible locations for expansion, which includes other stars(E17-19/20/21), after the search for the perfect planet(E20-21), she searches for nebulas to see what would happen if the stars die. In her search, she finds the more brutal deaths of stars(E23). This will give her aid to help humanity to expand further

Android is the new iOS 🙂 I can now feel what the iOS beta testers used to feel like a few months back 😜

With the addition of the "News" button, the camera button gets shoved up into the universe speed menu, and one can no longer click on the reverse/slow down Universe speed control.

Caveat: once you try and get the camera mode, then the universe speed controls get moved up and you can click on the reverse/slow down button.

Also, there is a strange visual occlusion in the beautiful Carina Nebula: there are some dark shadowy regions that are very apparent when you rotate the camera, and they occlude the bright central area, but not the background stars in the same model. I have a video showing it

Devs - more feedback on Beyond Episode 23:
The art and graphics are absolutely AMAZING! There are also a goodly number of tasks. However, I feel like the pacing is a bit too fast - without boosting, I am able to zip through things pretty quickly. Maybe make the generators a tad more expensive? And have some of the objectives require higher ranks? Rather, a LOT higher ranks.

I have the same feelings. The "requerimients" for each rank in beyond are similar, but as phase 2 advances we have more and more Epic and rare traits

For example, i wasted a bunch of darwinium on black holes and now i can do every new episode in a Matter of almost seconds

I know some players have not wasted as much as i did, but i feel that the requerimients for each episode shouls be higher and higher, althouth It would make It less "noob-friendly"

But with the darwinium you get through daily rewards, mesozoic and beyond, if used well, you can basically make the game instant, and i dont think that should be the case

I am not even buying black holes anymore. Sure, it is fun to get the "undiscovered" gold and epic cards, but.... things go WAY to fast with them. Same with boosts. I realize I am coming from EP21 and EP22 with slightly higher ranks of those generators (higher than noobs), but not crazy high

Yep. And for meso It made sense bc you had to repeat It 10 times passing trhough 50 ranks

But here in beyond the episodes are limited and you have to wait a month between each one

It would be better if you need days for players with a lot of gold cards and a week or more for players that play badly with the economy. Which is what you need when you start playing

I needed months to complete meso (and with lots of gold/silver traits) but i could literally do all the episodes of beyond, if you exclude cutscenes, in... 3 minutes?

It is indeed a little bit of all of that - including some visual engineering magic (magic from my perspective).

Wikipedia's entry mentions the general shape, and that matches the kind of explosion that created it. Images taken in different spectra also help show different structures within the nebula, and we've worked from those.

We've made the filaments look right in a general way, though their shapes are probably considerably more complex IRL. And thats where some of the magic comes in ... I'm really stunned at how our 3D artist for the nebulas has captured all of our crazy specs-and-speculation to make some parts look crisp and others hazy, and included the ||Crab Pulsar within it|| while keeping the overall shape 'correct'.

My thoughts on beta as of now: Object errors aside, I was expecting this to be a neutron star episode and things like Ia supernovae and Lich

Lich has been featured in the neutron star boost but it is significant, since it hosts three planets, and these are among the first confirmed exoplanets

We’ve got another big release (23.08) for beta - the 🥉 Bronze Age has been improved!

• 9 new nodes
• 3 new augmentations to buy in the store
• new unlocks in the Civ Garden
• new “city view” camera mode - shows a top-down view of the Garden and lets you pan around horizontally rather than staying on the circular camera track. This works in both the Civ Garden and the Land Garden.

Since this is the first beta release, there are some 🐞 known issues. Translations are not in yet, and text is missing for one new node and for Augmentations. Tuning will need to be changed.

We’ve also updated the 🌃 Beyond Episode 23 🌌

• revised tuning for E23 generators
• Zoom menu in the Garden has more steps
• Fixed: Milky Way translation in main sim is identical to Human Body event tooltip in some languages

Other Improvements/Fixes:

• Research Race removes impossible times (very low and very high)
• Added button to turn ON / OFF phone notifications in the options
• Badge boost above 200% gets diminishing increase in power
• Fixed - changing scene resets Nanobots cooldown
• Fixed - iPhone 15 Pro Max Dynamic Island cuts into game text

Just to complete my beta thoughts rn

In the long run I feel that there are really only three black holes, apart from those over a billion light years from Earth, that by themselves are absolutely necessary to have in the game

The first one is here (Cygnus X-1). The other two are Sagittarius A* (black hole in the center of our galaxy) and Messier 87* (first black hole picture)

I'm fine with having just the one for now I guess

It was just really surprising for me to see Carina Nebula and Cygnus X-1, like, right now
