I am not too concerned about how hard it is to upgrade Beyond Epic cards - the benefits/perks of Beyond Epic cards are MUCH more powerful than Epic cards in Meso; I'd be curious to see the actual math behind the cards - I believe the exponent in Beyond is something like 2^n, but in Meso I think it is closer to 1.25^n

funny; when I was looking up numbers for Meso cards, I noticed that at some point the mutagen cost had been severely discounted and I could now buy a bunch more upgrades. Lol - I guess that is what happens when you don't open up Meso in a while. So while Meso cards are cheaper than they were, their long-term effects still don't compare to Beyond.

and I just spent all my mutagen on my main device before I realized that these new prices are specific to the Beta. oops. The good news is that you can "Game Transfer" and get the higher-level cards in the public version (not beta). Hm.... seems like a bit of an exploit though (#💬-beta-chat message):

1. get beta
2. Get beyond to Rank 18
3. Spend all your darwinium to purchase mutagen in Beta
4. upgrade Meso cards with the additional mutagen (in Beta)
5. in Beyond, Jump back to the end of Rank 17
6. Rinse and Repeat
7. When done, last time jump back to Beyond Rank 17, Game Transfer to Public version.

I've been very careful to ensure that my Beyond game on my primary device stays at Rank 17, even though I automagically got the Beta version on it. However, I have the new pricing in the Meso on my primary device.

Some facts about old beta

Medium stars used to be in astronomy missions

And it is by far the most overpowered thing in cells history

Since at rank 4 medium stars were 100% gonna give you 5 epics per star

Now it’s only 20% for 1

And because epic and rare cards were MUCH stronger back in old beta

Being 3x and not 2x

You could literally finish beyond in 10 minutes

The main way I got it was by buying the black hole a few times, which gave me many cards to speed up and increase the payout of Sirius. That also gave me cards for the rare and epic cards.

In general, I would say don't spend any darwinium or logits while in Beta, simply because there is a chance you will lose whatever you purchased. If you want to be conservative, safe, and guaranteed to keep whatever you buy, buy it in public (not beta).

The Beyond Jump button makes buying things in beta a little more palatable, as long as you are careful about it.

18_41: the new music is great, loving it. The pacing is better. I still think the exoplanet research mission up to Rank 5 is a bit much - I would suggest spreading that out over more objectives (like have one objective to get it up to Rank 3, then another to get it up to Rank 5).

Time to jump back again! There are some bugs I found so far:

• the menu bar on the left side in the realtity engine is empty when I open it
• the background colour in the James-Webb-event is just grey
• available trait upgrades in the Beyond are no longer shown by green light in the planets overview
• dwarf stars from astronomy missions don't give cards for the new Main Sequence objects

I don't think dwarf stars not giving Main Sequence cards is a bug. They seem to be separate systems. You can buy white dwarfs that do give Main Sequence cards for the same price. (I presume that there will eventually be research missons for white dwarfs.)

I have not been keeping track of the prices; I figured they were in flux, so I did not write anything down or take special note - I was more concerned about pacing. And it will still be hard to make a call on pacing until we get other ranks. And yes, the Exoplanet research mission was Rank 6 previously, but the first time Beyond Phase 2 came out, it was Rank 5 and I said it was still a bit much then. 😁

Another Beyond Bug: there is no offline progress for stars with no automation. For example, Sirius - you don't get any of the update trait cards for a while, and thus it does not have automation, and whe you are offline, there is absolutely no progress on the generator.

Ach, its ALL the generators, not just ones without automation. I am not getting any offline progress for Tau Ceti or Barnard's Star either.

I just realized that Earth in Beyond has the same design I currently use in main simnulation. So for me it' s Donut Earth at present. Very cool!

• constellation Eridanus is not giving a 1,5 speed increase, e.g. Barnard's star changed from 2m 11s to 1m 27s (no other bonuses activated)
• on the "insert fragment" screen of the Eridanus constellation is a picture from a bear so I think it's mixed up with Ursa Major constellation
• when opening a Black Hole there is a big black dot in the middle of the screen where rewards are shown

I bought the Moon later when I already bought most of the other planets and stars. This opened something like a tutorial for research missions in which I#m kind of locked in. Even cancelling all missions and starting new ones doesn't end it and I can't do anything else in the game anymore. I'll try restarting the game now...

I'd suggest waiting until they fix the current issue of the beta overwriting the stable version, even when using different devices. I am not using my device which was only supposed to have the beta on it for now, until they resolve this, and I have to be careful not to do anything in the Beyond on my device which was only supposed to have the stable version on it, either. Even though there are two different apps in the Google Play Store, one for stable and one for beta, at present they both seem to overwrite each other whichever has the highest version number.

Issue is yellow dwarfs like The Sun don't explode into supernova and become neutron stars because they don't have enough mass to do but instead yellow dwarfs become red giant and then shed it's outer part of red giant forming into a planetary nebula and then finally white dwarf in reality

This message above implies that there is still some sort of cross-corruption between the beta and the stable apps for the game, despite your assurances earlier that this issue has now been resolved.

It would seem to me that we are now expected to disable the auto-update option in the Google Play Store for the stable app as well as for the beta app; is that correct? There needs to be a complete separation between the two apps. We should be able to install both apps on a single device, under a single username, or at the very least, to install one app on one device and the other app on another device, both using the same username, without either over-writing the other.

I did not read it as "corruption". Let me tell you a story...

Once upon a time.... ok, skip that. Before events, the public and beta versions were indeed quite separate and independent. Then Exploration Events starting rolling out, and Beta testers found they could not participate in any event that was in the Public game (note, at the time, beta testers could play exploration events in the beta branch). For example, beta testers would test, say, the Money Event. And then a few weeks later, the Devs would release it to the Public. Beta testers did the testing, but then could not play the public even unless they switched out of the beta branch (which was totally possible, just a huge pain if you only had one device).

So the Devs introduced a way to merge the two branches for the sole purpose of allow beta testers to play the event at the same time everyone else (public) was.

There are obviously still some issues, but I personally have not had any corruption issues. Even though I "bounce" by playing beta on one device and public on another.

This seems to be the crux of the problem here. Firstly, is this still the case? I've mentioned this numerous times now, that we have two apps here: the Cells app and the Cells (Beta) app. However, they seem to be sharing the same codebase whether they are both installed on the same device, or whether they are both installed on different devices under the same Google account. Note that I cannot comment on other platforms, as I only play Cells on my Android devices. This is the problem, as far as I can see. The two different apps are currently not being fully isolated / sandboxed apart from each other.

Sure, there can be two different savegame files, but the dependencies for the apps themselves seem to be intertwined somewhere, such that a new beta release will update both the beta and the stable apps, and vice versa.

Whatever solution needs to be implemented to resolve this issue, the outcome should be that we can install both apps on a single device, maintain two different savegame files for them, and copy to/from the cloud between these local savegame files so that we can synchronise from our stable savegame file to (and overwriting) our beta savegame file, at least. It should also be possible to migrate our savegame back from beta to stable only when the latest app changes get rolled out to a new production version. Does that make sense?

We have investigated into this issue and it was caused by Google changing how they handled different versions of the game. We have not changed our build process internally in anyway so it took us a while to narrow down the problem.

Lets take an example scenario to understand the situation:

Hypothetically if we push out a beta build on lets say Tuesday of version 18.11
Then two days later if we push out a stable build of version 18.13 then you WILL get a update notification in your playstore.

The solution ? Disable auto updates if you wish to play the beta game.

We will be letting you know when we are updating our beta branch in this channel. Additionally we will also be warning you when we are pushing our stable builds. In the future we plan to add a ping role to these beta updates in this channel so that interested beta testers can get notifications whenever we are pushing a beta build.

Thanks for explaining this. I think your hypothetical example has shed new light on the situation. Does this mean that whenever you push a new stable build, you push it to both the Cells app and the Cells (Beta) in the Google Play Store? If so, that would probably be the cause of the problem. Auto-updates are not the problem themselves, they just update whatever you push out there to EACH app. New builds of the beta should only be pushed to the Cells (Beta) app. When you release a new stable, it should only be pushed to the Cells app. Once a new stable release is completed, I would assume that it would then get forked for the beginning of a new round of testing as a new beta and later be pushed to the Cells (Beta) app as a whole new beta version, being point incremented from the last stable. Does that sound about right?

I think perhaps what has happened in the past is that maybe there has been a common habit among the Beta Testers ourselves to use the beta as their primary game, so they have come to expect that every new release of the stable will update the beta straight away. Hence the issue that had happened with the LTE's in the past. A release to stable doesn't necessarily mean that a new beta is imminent, and it may take a while for the devs to release a public beta of the next big thing after a stable release.

So I started Beyond last night, and I got the message that my progress was being reset due to an update. I had invested a fair amount of Darwinium in getting myself to the point where I was, and now all of that seems to have simply been taken away. Is this normal for alpha/beta testing in Cells? I.e., is it a mistake to spend Darwinium on a beta simulation, because it will eventually get wiped out by the devs with no recourse?
