yw! That is indeed the way: when you stall, end sim, buy more stuff on the Reality Engine tree, then start sim again. Eventually you will find you’ll want to let it sit idle for days, as the multipliers from time nodes in RE increase, but you are a ways off before that’s relevant to you.. and the meta might change in the meantime, anyway

Other ways i have to test myself. Luckily games with gamebreaking updates always had old branches on Steam yet, so i had no need to use some more hacky things.

• Some games can be launched via their .exe itself without needing steam started. Some need steam. Idk if this works for cells.
• read-only the .acf file from the game should work too (its the update file where steam keeps track of the update status etc) but never tried that yet (if the update isnt our yet, otherwise you probably force lock the update button )

I think the logic of them is just wrong

I suggested like to have time chambers that getting worse passing the time, so they are only good from the start, and after upgrades in simulation, some node, you make them better. Game already have this logic in some events

For example, theoretically, x100 multiplier from the start, after 3 days it goes to x10, you buy upgrades in sim, it gets to x50 (x10 x count of upgrades in primary sim or x10 x some individual nodes in sim)

This will make balance in fast runs and long term runs (but you will need to buy upgrades). Just need right mathematical calculations

Beyond keeping 4x going and ads for the 2x idle boost, start as early as you can on events if you might not finish. Try to play regularly (every few hours). If you're on PC, it's worth doing a cross-platform save to a phone or android emulator on PC so that you can get the 4x boost from ads. You don't want to spend darwinium on events unless you're just spending a lot of money (in which case get the infinity pass)

thats 12 red dwarf missions in the same time span which 10% chance each + all the other stuff from them.
(so in average 1,2 fragments in 72h)

the object reduction missions cap out at 10x discount, so its nice to have them done, but imo not high priority. not that u even feel the difference between 7x discount and 10x discount for example.

and the dark matter ones get outscaled by red dwarves too, they are sometimes useful if you know u are offline long time

but tbh i just go 3x red dwarves these days even then

My opinion:

Mid-late game: Once you have Auriga and the 5th slot: 2 White Dwarf and 3 Red Dwarf (unless you've got some Research Missions to do). No contest: this is the best.

Early game: Def do one or two of the Red Dwarfs (and any research missions you've got to do). Dark Matter only if you're short of it or have a spare slot. At this level of progress, you might want to do the constellation mission (because Red Dwarf 3 takes a while without Auriga).

You play Cells on Steam, right? Set Steam to Offline mode and keep it off until you have completed your run, otherwise the game will update, and you won't have the option for a 21d run anymore.. you'll only be able to do the nerfed version.

Yeah, looks good. Same advice as I just gave Mark though: If you are playing on mobile/tablet, don't update when it offers it in the next couple days. If you are on Steam, keep it offline bc otherwise it will force an update.. bc the update will greatly nerf the 21d option. You will still have access to the Cells Server for saves, fortunately

Do you think you could explain how the entropy/idea discount upgrades work?

The ones I was specifically talking about there are the Entropy and Idea Time Chambers and the Metabit and Knowledge Time Crystals. When you start a new sim, its multiplier is at 0, but the longer you play without rebooting the sim, the more their boosts increase, up until (if I'm not mistaken) about five days for the Chambers and 21 days for the Crystals. Basically, the longer you play, the more currency you gain.

The problem with that that I was explaining is that Metabits and Knowledge aren't a steady gain like the other two currencies. You have to fill the bars at the top of the screen to get more, and with every time it fills, it gets slower and slower. Therefore, the Crystals are only so effective when it takes potential hours to actually get more Metabits or Knowledge. By not buying anything, and therefore not filling up the bars, and then waiting for the crystals to reach the maximum multiplier, you'll get a lot more Metabits and Knowledge when you do start filling them, and each one of those huge fills will only take a few seconds or minutes to get as opposed to a few hours.

(But this is soon-to-be outdated. There's an update coming soon that will decrease the Time Crystals' maximums to 14 days, along with a lower maximum multiplier. I assume it will also impact the Time Chambers, but I'm not certain on that.)
