Beyond 20 went about as expected for me. The first thing I did was watch a few ads to get my multiplier up to 4x. Then I blindly clicked to level up the most expensive things for a while. I have been actively grinding beyond since I finished it so I had plenty of stardust and cards to level up any slow spots. I looked at the list of objectives so I was able to complete many in advance while waiting for my missions to complete.

When I got all the new items, I bought six black holes. That made finishing the grind easy. I finished the whole thing in less than 30 minutes, not counting the level 6 achievements. That will only take a couple days with my multipliers.

So I had fun, and I'm back to grinding primary while waiting for weekly events. I've spent $20. Maybe that makes me a whale. A few black holes makes everything so much easier.

I agree. I try to spend $10 a month on games I play. Here it's almost counterproductive. I should probably use it to replace watching ads instead of getting multipliers, but I like the feeling of permanent bonuses. They can't really make the goals harder for people who spend a little money without making the delays unbearable for free to players. 30 minutes vs. 2 days isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
