doesn't matter when you start. the game is counting how much sim-time you used.
If you can afford not to sleep, avoid the use of boosts completely. It'll let you get more uses of nanobots in the same amount of sim-time.
Combine that with an efficient buy order and you've got a very good chance to top the leaderboards.

Hello, and please help! I am stuck at the whale (Cetacean?) in Primary. Everything there is too slow. The metabits (if that's what they're called) are running really slow. I have rebooted simulation in hopes of something working, getting similar results. Does it generally take that long to 1.5B metabits? I'm at 1.something, so 2/3rd way down.

some of the extemes, I've seen a few pictures here of people who sank ungodly amounts of cubes into time flux and finished in only a couple hours realtime but have completion times in hundreds of days.
unless you really know exactly when to flux, it's really inefficient for high score purposes.

Time flux is 1hour. Looking at my time your compared to 3 days is like 36 hours. Multiply that by the darwinium, per flux that's like 360.... And to be 6 days that's wild

I always save free Darwinium for events and use enough to speed up production for the event. So I just played as I usually do and used a total of 8 Darwinium to speed up production. I was 3rd in my group to finish but was told I was 2nd, now am 6th.

There may be some bugs involving proper tracking of sim-time
but one major bug is that the game awards the currency for finishing in a high standing immediately once you finish... without waiting for everyone else to finish.
You could in theory finish "first" but have that spot taken from you later but you've already gotten your extra 25 logits.
that extra standing award should only be handed out once the event ends and final standings are confirmed.

a good rule of thumb is to buy any upgrade once it costs two hours worth of output at no boost, or 30mins in 4x boost
There's one major exception in Tea, but most upgrades end up landing on the 30-45 minutes-to-buy regime.

That was the major exception I was talking about earlier. The unconventional tea generator is very good but if you try to buy it too soon you waste a ton of time.

Some of the "stars" of a constellation can be multiple stars (visual or real), nebula of different types, clusters of stars and I believe even galaxies. Structural star is not the term you should be using, try main star instead.
Afaik, Eridanus should be among the constellations with the most main stars, although Hydra is not only larger, but contains more objects overall. And here I'm just assuming you refer to the IAU constellations.
