I agree, been watching tourns for 7 years ish now and im finding the games extremely generic, 14x 116-F3 just seems boring to watch.
I understand the need for armour and hp but I think tactics take a hit making watching alittle boring.
If u had a choice, which I obviously don't, I think pro tourns should have a basic must haves to show case more skill. So if it was rule that 1 of each type had to be used in any game, 1xTD, 1xLt, 1xMed, 1xHeavy. Last 3 could be any. I just think it would force better tactics and game play viewing.

Reactive will never NOT be attractive in a comp setting, even if it's 5%, it's still a click and get rewarded ability that's exclusive to tanks that wg themselves choose, the comp meta is made by whichever tank gets to have reactive, plus whatever is able to play around it, like 215b's when MLE's were still around

Maybe tournaments could be made more popular if they weren't heavily leaning on pay to play, for this season alone, in order to be competitive, most of the tanks you were forced to have are collectors:

mild cases:
chief - most players probably own one, because of how long it's been in the game, but it's a tank that you need to spend money/gold to own
AMX MLE - it's also quite common, but still, money or you wont compete

S conq, T22, Concept, E6 arent so neccesary but they have their niche roles and those have to be bought too

Outrageous:
116 f3 - bruh, this tank has been sold a total of 4 times before (and during) the season, twice in same boxes, where you have a chance to get a certificate with another chance to actually get it, an auction where it sold out within an hour or quicker even and then lockboxes, I dont want to make assumptions but maybe someone saw the popularity and demand of the 116 f3 and decided to cash in, but apart from this, thats another tank you need to spend money on to compete

Type 5 - released mid season, great idea, with a price tag of 320$ for a guranteed drop, nobody looking to enter comp is going to spend that much for a tank that MIGHT be meta, or might not, you have to buy it to see

I know that currently you probably only need 116 f3 to play comp, but the meta just got formed, before that you had to own these tanks to be considered for a high end team

Getting into comp, disregarding time and effort, is already very unfriendly for players who aren't experienced or whales,

I see no reason why tournaments should be popular when the bar to enter is not only skill, but also loads of money.

Let's be real, top 4/8/16 contestants are only a limited amount of teams and people and many more would be needed to actually have some weight. So better rewards across the board

But maybe there are more elegant ways than just throwing more rewards at people
Is it just for the 5th pro avatar that you're playing or is it for something else? Maybe there should be more streams? Or more attention by the community in general? If yes, how can CW become more visible and more appealing to follow, not only as a player but as a fan?

I’ve been starting to get into wot pc comp and in terms of publicity it’s higher than blitz but not exponentially. It probably is due to the games past prime and number of players. What I can say is that our format and metas are wayyyyy better. 7v7 format has one cap and the ability to airstrike and autospot anybody. Additionally the super abilities are cracked. The Foch gets a super speed boost and can heal 85% of its HP in just one consumable. I’d much rather deal with 116 spam then nuking a guy to 500 just to see him poke again on full HP. Ig one positive is you can grind the meta tanks instead of having to buy them.

Regulations exist for a reason, read them, regardless, a percentage generally implies that you will lose currency related rewards, such as 25% of free xp and gold. As for camos, backgrounds, medals, etc, those are considered unique rewards, you would have to break a lot of rules or at least pretty badly for you to lose those rewards. The only cases where you lose those rewards are probably if you are the rule offending player or your team has broken too many rules.

So when does the next season start? Is this a good time to pick teams or better, where do I find something about all this on the wild wild world of the Internet? I subbed to some of the YouTube stuff. Yeah if it's not too early/late to find a team that'd be great. I've watched the tourney team search tho I haven't seen anything about it. Is there another place to look for other tourney stuff? And I have teams I want to spectate and cheer for, where do I find something?

2. The season just ended so not many teams will be playing but you can reach out as more and more start up again.
3. For the NA server there is a scrim server that might give you more info.
4. The best bet to support your teams is watch them on stream.

Arena competition is lower stakes, only like half of the pro teams usually play it and they don’t play it very seriously.

If you want to join a comp team or quick tournament team I recommend joining clan discords and applying to clans. Usually it’s easy to join quick tournament teams/clans as long as you are active. As far as the teams that play pro tournaments getting into them will require connections and experience playing on lower level teams (challengers and lower echelons). The more seasonal tournaments you play and active you are the more connections and recognition you will gain in order to tryout for higher level teams

Also the scrim server is also a good place to find teams that are looking for players, usually teams will be asking for a certain level of experience before they let you tryout though. By experience I mean accolades, for example a top 12 team might be looking to only let players with top 16 placements tryout for their team.

19:00 UTC+8 is the best you’ll get for APAC\ASIA.

I checked on this a while back when figuring Timezone coordination for my clans, to see if wg could further optimise the schedule for the APAC/ASIA.

Unfortunately when it gets past UTC+8, the extremes become pretty unsustainable, they’re not ideal as it is, however they’re acceptable as the range moves from late afternoon 4-5pm to 10-11 pm (not accounting for DST changes in certain states and regions). Reshaping the planet is not possible nor a good idea if it were.

If there were to be any change it would have to be minimal, 19:30 UTC+8 would be the upper limit of an acceptable timeframe, the guys in +10 (not to mention +11 or +12) are already playing late, and we don’t want to make them much later. 3hr tournaments run to midnight, that can be pretty fatiguing routine wise for people.

Did you do any kind of research before typing this? If tours are delayed by 2hrs, For Japanese and Koreans - it will be 10pm instead of 8pm, for Chinese - it will be 9pm instead of 7pm, for Australians it will be 11pm instead of 9pm. For Indians it is 4:30pm which is really not workable as it’s travel time and still office/college hours. And indian comp players have been consistently doing t8 performances so it’s worth mentioning.

I see, anyways it was just a suggestion, if I ask for 2hrs, they’ll maybe consider 1hr delay. If tour time does get delayed even to 20:00 utc + 8, it might be more manageable for everyone. Don’t think there would be much problems there.
Just considering the sheer amount of potential players, though it might just be quantity, it’s something to think about from business perspective.
Hell if India is known for one thing, it’s the huge population.

In my opinion every regular tournaments should give coins to begin with, i don't think it would be a problem regarding coins economy. About the format i would say that one of the things that needs to be changed is to make the maps random, it is very boring when you play again and again the same maps when there's a lot more where you could play.

Also yeah, i think that having more interesting rewards would motivate peoples, some gold to grab in every regular tournaments even 1v1 etc would be nice, then like someone said above some quests to get a tank at the end, honestly even if you just make a tank that is similar to a tech tree one with few differences for this kind of things peoples would still appreciate that's for sure, it would still be a new tier 10 after all.

About the coins i think it's possible to do some better options in the store(back then i used to buy the 500 coins offer that gives X5 and such, it was not so bad to grind) but there's also a 5k one that probably nobody buy because it's not worth at all, perhaps some new offers with few crates like collect them all and such maybe ?

1. having a greater emphasis on tournaments in the game's UI, right now it is very hidden and easy to miss
2. new incentives for beginner players to enter major tournaments and quick tournaments, make it more worth their time even if they might lose quickly
3. rework quick tournaments, i don't think they have changed much in a while. there has never been anything for tiers 7 or 9, the "miniature" maps for 2v2/3v3 have been the same for years, format has always been double-elimination in 4 tours, etc
4. have less daily tournaments, it spreads the playerbase too thin on smaller regions like NA. maybe get rid of the less impactful ones such as 1v1, instead just have 2 or 3 quick tournaments a week, will help consolidate each tournament to have more teams

Btw when I suggested it, I didn’t say it should replace tier 10 comp but instead only exist as an alternative. tier 10 will still be there, but the tier 8 comp could be played by people who doesn’t have meta tier 10 comp tanks since those strong tier 8 collectors are much easier to get, those pros can still play their tier 10s as usual and doesn’t have to play tier 8, plus they should reduce the prize pool of tier 8 comp to maybe only in game gold and camos, this way tier 10 comp will still be more attractive prize wise but tier 8 could be there for the less pros or those without meta tanks. One of the main reason why comp is getting less popular is because too many people doesn’t want to be trash talked by pros for not performing well, by adding an alternate tour choice, the players can be segregated, if the current pros see tier 8 comp as not worth their time, then they don’t have to play it since tier 10 comp will make more rewards for them anyways. And why tier 8 is also because that’s a tier where there are very diverse range of tanks

Tbh there isn’t a point to this. First of all the main tournaments already have decreased player counts, and I imagine that any variant of low tier tournament will suffer the same fate, especially to a larger degree. Second giving out any pro rewards for lower tier play defeats the point and would probably cause the actual pros to clown on these so called tier 8 pros you’ve described. Third as many people have said tier 8 is unbalanced. Fourth you already have decent tours in season coins and community tournaments; adding in a whole new tournament is not efficient for wargaming and would put more strain on their employees.

I partially agree, I think the meta should go back to what it used to be, tech tree tanks, that’s what it used to be years ago, why did we move away from that? Because it’s not profitable, Wargaming literally sat there and decided “oh here’s a variable that we can monetise” and it sure works, the money they put into tours is EASILY offset by the money spent on tanks by the players that are required to compete at a competitive level. No one really made to much of a fuss about the mle spam because 215b, e50m, and other tech tree tanks could be used against it. The only real match to 7 f3s is your own f3s tbh also hard to compare a single shot tank meta to a clipper meta

MLE had also been in the game for years with multiple opportunities to procure the tank compared to 4 times being offered at all and 3 being in boxes for the f3

I still believe that one of the best ways to advertise this game itself is to get high reputation streamers to play it. Advertising high level tournaments to me is also solely based on streamer commentating quality. We all know 90% of the people dont really watch the streams they just play it in the background and i dont really blame them. But we should make this game look just as exciting as the Voice Chat of top teams during these games :)

Also this is probably one of the only seasons where watching streams actually gave cool stuff to the player. The containers and keys downright awfull, dull and tepid and i would even say stupidly outdated and repetitive.

The bigest interest of the average player in this game is Gold, so this is 100% something you need to somehow implement either into quick tours, or into pro stream rewards or both preferebly.

Also theres something that i think would be cool to implement. Because the streams are on the wargaming website, pherhaps you could so some interactive questions or quizzes during the stream all the time so the player is forced to watch. And to reward it you can give him for example 100 gold per quizz/question or something and you limit the watchtime to cosmetic rewards only just like this season.

All of this is improvised and i came up with this on the spot, these are just some concepts that for sure have big flaws that i mightve overlooked, so dont come trashing the opinion for nothing

To play in a tournament, u must first join a team, and therefore, joining a team needs to be as easy as possible.
Wargaming fails profoundly in this aspect, making it very difficult for a newcomer to join a team through the process of creation, searching, and registration by the team captain in a hidden tab in the game. The solution is simple: create an "extended platoon" for up to 7 players on the main game screen, so that a group of 3 players who already know each other can be completed with 4 random players. Just like in Counter-Strike, to play a competitive match, u just click the play button on the main screen and then confirm that u are ready to immediately join a team randomly and make new friends.
To play as a team, coordination is necessary, and coordination needs to be as easy as possible.
Wargaming also fails profoundly in this aspect. It is impossible to coordinate 7 players on a map to perform functions like focus fire, pushing, and holding, among other things, through text chat. This is only possible with voice chat, and this voice chat must be in-game since there are random people on the team. There is no other way to do this other than having players pre-select languages they understand and speak so they can coordinate with each other within the game through a native voice chat. For example, I'm a player whose native language is Portuguese, but I'm the caller for a team with players who have various different native languages. We understand each other through English. It would be great if everyone spoke Portuguese for me, but in English, I can already coordinate the team and understand what they are saying. So, a pre-selection button for languages I can communicate in would be key to enabling coordination. The mistake of putting 4 English speakers and 3 Spanish speakers on one team, and 4 Spanish speakers and 3 English speakers on the other, cannot be made. The obvious solution, in this case, is to have 7 English speakers against 7 Spanish speakers.
